It is disturbing because (in my own opinion) America has to a large extent played a dominant role in maintaining stability in the world. Global Terrorism has been on the front stage of World's politics for past decades. While America has been doing a great deal to ensure Non-Nuclear Proliferation, especially as it gets to the hands of "supposedly" dangerous nations, many opposing country has come to view America's stance as a domineering one, hence they oppose.
Presently, China has emerged as America's strongest opposition. In order words, a strong threat to world peace!
