Who is watching U.S men's basketball team play Germany...they are going at it...almost last qtr..

They got robbed. Should have won the game. That last play was a foul on Edwards any day any time. Not sure why the refs didn't call that. Big respect to them, but any one who has followed their journey wouldn't be surprised.

Don't forget Chidera Odom (still playing professionally AND under 30 years old) that withdrew from the team early last year due to repeated unprofessionalism from NBBF that she refuses to continually tolerate. Most of these women hold non-Nigerian citizenship...

Nonetheless, they made it to the Olympics as one of only 12 qualifiers in the world. They earned it and should enjoy it. 3 losses and out should be expected just like the last time.

Anyone who's paid attention wouldn't be surprised frankly. It's Afrobasket and the qualifiers over again. We've got no perimeter shooting, no height, bang average defence, terrible free throw percentage and reliance on Amy to perform magic.

I again repeat, we have a personnel problem. This is a German team without the Sabally sisters btw.

I intentionally chose not to speculate even though I could have because I don't have all the facts. Her absence could be for many reasons part of which the NBBF's negligence which I didn't rule out. No where did I suggest she was prevented from representing Nigeria. I only dispelled your claim that she could have been reluctant which is factually incorrect.

I get your point, but you sprinkled falsities here and there to make it. First, the last team is factually better than this team. Yea they didn't win any games last Olympics, but that's largely due to team time together and preparation. Despite this they gave the USA a run for their money. By qualification for the world cup in 2022 they had become very competitive and beat France I think, but sadly didn't make it to the world cup due to NBBF's and Sport ministry's incompetence. All of the starters in the new team (save Ezinne) now were bench players of the last team, that shows you how good they were.

Also, Michaela has had issues with game time truly, but that she hasn't seen minutes particularly the last 5 games is false. She's been most active in the team lately and was one of their best players the last 2 games. With Mabery gone to Connecticut she's projected to be the best starter. I won't speculate on reasons why she didn't make the team, it could have been for many reasons, but people are free to make up theirs especially knowing the NBBF'S precedence.

...Making false bold claims is wild to me, saying the former squad is not obviously better that this new squad makes me laugh ...At the last Olympics every other team in our group went on to finish on the podium, that says alot about the group. Also there was the lack of preparation and the news of switch of the Ogwumike sisters that the federation did not manage well at all..The following year,the dtigress went on to beat France in the OQT, coming back from a 20 points deficit to beat the no 5 team in the world. Then the Federation happened to the ladies. As regards representation, Anyone that played the game knows that players dream of 2 things..1) Making the WNBA /NBA, 2) Playing at the Olympics, wonder why all the superstars tend to show up for the Olympics for the U.S.A mens national team, however, when it comes to basketball world cup they tend to opt out. Hence, for not wanting to rep, then something is wrong somewhere, as she is almost never going to get the call from the other side and she is steady reping 234. As regards MIcheala at sky, i see her limited minutes as a function of the coach not knowing her personnel. T-spoon, is a first time head coach and the squad is new, hence all of the trying different mix. Remember, T-spoon had Chennedy Cater coming in from the bench, her most lethal weapon, it took so much noise to make Chennedy a starter, she had Dshields and Dana staring, now both have been shipped to the bench...Micheala has be delivering everytime she stepped on the court, high energy player, she can post up, can shoot it too, and she play their last 4 games giving a solid minutes played to point ratio...Abeg bro what time is our match and link to watch...

.......If you do not see that the last olympics squad is stronger that what we have, then you do not follow the team or there is more at play, hence you trying to down play the former squad, a team that took France down a year after last olympics,note, we were in the worst possible group for the olympics, go back and check our group, and check where the teams in our group finished, 1st,2nd and 3rd respectively. I leave you to go do your own finding. As regards Micheala not having a single minute in the last 5 games, means only one thing you do not know what you are talking about plain and simple... there re no 2 ways about it, you know not what you talk about...btw i watch the chicago sky games, i follow the team, go and do your own research and come back to your post,Also, there are high chances Micheala would be moved to starting position after the break, and there is a reason for that.... as regards Chidom, yes she will be missed, the funny thing is Chidom was not even the focal point of the previous squad.....Even the blind knows that this squad is weaker. ....well well, now we know, sad much, N.B.B.F fumbled again and again and again...no Kiki, no Micheala.....Already looking like a repeat of last olympics...0 in 3, as we would be going to the olympics with a much weaker squad than we had in 2021, ....to compete at this level, you have to come with the best you have, i honestly believe, we can do better than what we are doing at the moment. It seems the people in NBBF just see these games as childs play, hence their usual lackadaisical approach to things.

If anyone has the link to watch tomorrows friendly,they should drop it here...let see what our ladies are capable of..

This is great, but still think we have a personnel problem. Do you know why the Michaela Onyenwere purported invitation fell through? Someone like her would have added a lot more to the team. Not inviting her is a big miss in my opinion.

... Michaela would have just fitted right in...she has the normal hussling spirit that is the identity of the dtigress. Won't be surprised,if she shows up to be honest,by weekend,we would know hw far.

Our former coach, Otis Hughley Jnr, has been appointed as the Coach of Senegal's women basketball squad. You can see why I was pushing for a better coach to be appointed for Dtigresses after the Olympics. Senegal under Otis Hughley will challenge Nigeria at the next women's Afrobasket in 2025 and also vie with Nigeria for a world cup slot going forward. Hmn.

They were talking about her as she was the player micked up today, and the male commentator made a remark talking about her dad ran track for Nigeria at the Olympics. It sounded like he said she do be repping Nigeria at the Olympics.

Getting players is not our problem. Nigeria has many talented basketball players all over the world especially in the USA. I believe we should also be looking at College players and lower division basketball clubs in Europe to spot gifted players with a Nigerian heritage or origin.

Our problem is we don't know how to craft out victories at the Olympics and FIBA World Cup levels. Otis Hughley tried his best for Nigeria but we were not able to medal at Tokyo 2021 Olympics. We need to fight harder this time around. We just need the right mindset. Cheers.

.....Do not expect too much Sir, for where we are, we are overachieving. We are, i think 11th in world ranking, that is a serious feet, considering the unseriousness and lackadaisical approach of the federation, their in-fighting, we still find a way to stay on top, it is a major feet. Also this team is just coming together as the federation keeps finding a way to disrupt what we have going as against using a plug and play approach. I hope the ladies surprise me, however i know this is no Afrobasket, this is the Olympics. If we really wanted to medal, we will go for serious talents to rival almost every team except the U.S, however, federation is on isha Allah and vibes.

Yes, She ( Akhator ) had a baby not too long ago. She talks more about motherhood via her Twitter Page these days. I did not know she has been playing professionally though.

...Might not be the same player that she used to be, however, she is still very much better than most of the bigs we have at the moment, i catch their games on youtube. her baby should be close to a year if not..

Personally, it is Evelyn Ojeimen ( Nee Akhator ) that I want to see in camp. However, I don't think she has been playing professional basketball for some time now.

...she is very much active, she played o the same with Amy Okonkwo last season (Landerneau, France).

Compared to those we have on the Roster, Michaela is obviously a great addition. I've watched most Chicago Sky games this season and she's not been bad. But we don't have anyone like Kiki in that team. The sheer potential she has for the future is enough reason to cap her now.

...I get you as regards Kiki, unfortunately,the federation is run by some unserious people in my own opinion.

Still hopeful about Kiki. It has more to do with the future of the program than now. Michaela hasn't really had a lot of game time this season.

..Same here as regards Kiki, Michaela has not had much playing time, however, she is that ready to go player,I watch their games(Chicago Sky). A babe usually stream the matches on playback and twitter. Micheala is in fine form,she will definitely be a great addition.

There are unconfirmed rumours that Michaela Onyenwere of the Chicago sky was invited. Whether the invitations means she'll get a guaranteed spot remains to be seen as I don't see the Sky release her before the All star games. We'll find out more in the coming days.

It appears there's a total of 25 players battling for 12 spots. I'm uncertain if this includes the home based players that were invited to camp in Abuja a few weeks ago.

..if she was actually invited,then they she will definitely be going to camp late as league is still on,which is almost like a guaranteed spot. For Kiki,it means she was either not invited or could not make it due to whatever reason.
