Crime / Siblings Bravely Fight Off Carjacker Who Stole Their Father's SUV by Cargist44: 7:17am On Dec 26, 2019
Not everyone is brave enough to fight off a robber who has come to steal from them, let alone a 16-year-old girl. However, one teen has gone to become a hero after standing her ground to protect her two siblings after a carjacker had jumped into their car and driven off as they were waiting inside the car for their father who had gone to buy pizza.

Imama Muratab and her two younger siblings, Hasnain 9 and Ayesha, 5 were waiting inside their father's SUV on a Sunday night in Chicago when the frightening incident happened.

Naijauto gathered that their father had left them inside the car and rushed to get their dinner, pizza, in West Rogers Park. The carjacker saw that as an opportunity and jumped into their car after coming down from a stolen Toyota Camry which had stopped beside the car.

Imama told local media that her siblings were sleeping while she was starting to doze off when the car robber jumped in.

She said,

"This dude just jumps in the car and he looks back and I realize it's not my dad, so I go, 'Who are you?!''
He starts driving really fast, going in like a zig-zag pattern."

According to her, the man screamed, "Get out or I'm going to shoot you."

Imama had wanted to get out as the man had screamed but she wasn't ready to leave her siblings behind.

She said,

"I was just scared for my life, I didn't know what to do,' Imama said.
I was in panic mode, like, I wanted to cry but I knew I had to do something that can help.'

The teenager began to scream and at the same time, tried to choke the man when her screaming woke up her brother and sister.
Her siblings joined her in hitting the carjacker and Imama saw her father's phone and took it. She started to call 911 while her brother used his iPad to continue hitting the carjacker.

The carjacker only drove four blocks before stopping. He got down and fled in the Toyota Camry that he earlier came in.

A CCTV footage from a fuel station captured the carjacker with his gang members inside the stolen Toyota car barely an hour after the incident.

The police surrounded them after they were caught but the driver fled. The remaining four were arrested and indicted for criminal trespass to the car.

Romance / Randy Couple Were Filmed While Having Sex On Upper Deck Of Traveling Bus by Cargist44: 7:18am On Dec 25, 2019
A couple who got so 'Hot' that they couldn't wait to get home before pulling their pants down has been captured as they were having sex at the upper deck of a bus travelling in broad daylight in Prestwich, Greater Manchester.

The randy pair were seen having a steamy session at the back row of the 135 bus passing through some schools on a Tuesday afternoon on December 17th.

A gas engineer named John Dolan, who filmed the couple said, he was inside his van and waiting for his pals when he noticed a movement inside a moving bus. He looked up from his phone and beheld the sight.

Dolan said,

"It was mad - very strange. It's just wrong.
It looked quite vigorous. They slowed down a bit when the bus stopped but were still at it, then carried on again as it pulled off.
I can't imagine if an old lady got on the bus and saw them. She'd probably have a heart attack.
I just hope they're a couple and not doing it on the sly because now they've gone viral."

Naijauto gathered he quickly captured them and sent the clip to his wife, who expressed how disgusting and embarrassing their actions were.

He went further to say,

"There's a sandwich shop round the corner and I was waiting in the van for my mates to come out.
The bus pulled in at the bus stop and I looked up from my phone because I saw movement and thought 'what's going on there?'
There was another woman crossing the road at the time with a smirk on her face. She must have seen it because she looked about embarrassed.
It's funny the bus driver didn't spot them in his mirror or on CCTV.
There's kids on that road. There's a high school about a minute down the road and it was heading in that direction.
I sent the video my wife and she said 'that's disgusting'. Obviously I'm a lad and I find it funny."

A spokesperson for Go North West, a bus operator service, said,

"We're aware of the incident and we have informed the relevant authorities."

I hate to be exploited in my life. Just like the day we went Quilox last year and we were told a bottled water was 5k. Even though no be me dey pay, I first calculated how many bottles of 3 3 Lager Beer & plates of Peppersoup the 5k would buy me at Mulikat Beer Parlour at Ojodu-Berger; I then began to contemplate on which of the deities I would invoke to burn down the entire club including everybody there. grin

A few days ago, I was reading an article about the late Forrest Mars Jr. (whose networth was $23Billion in 2015) & his brother John Mars (whose networth is $28Billion and currently the 32nd-richest person in the world).

Excerpt:

A few years ago, Forrest Jr. was spotted in National Airport by a business acquaintance who called to gain his attention: "Forrest! Forrest Mars!" Forrest strode over and rebuked the man: "Don't ever call out my name in public!"

As philanthropists, the Marses set no records for generosity. In 1993, when its revenues were estimated at $12 billion, the company gave only $600,000 for distribution through the Mars Foundation.

Travel plans are to be kept confidential. If David Badger, Mars manager in charge of sales in Russia and Eastern Europe and the first husband of Jackie Mars Vogel, plans to fly to Stupino, Russia–where Mars is building three plants to produce Russian favorites Snickers and Mars bars, as well as rice and pet-food products–he knows not to mention the trip to his colleagues. The headquarters staff is aware that a casual question about an executive's travel location would be met with an admonition. That people disappear for periods of time to unknown locations is only one of the reasons the McLean headquarters office is nicknamed "The Kremlin."

The contemporary Marses rarely spend a lot of money on themselves. Forrest Jr. lives in Rosslyn's Weslie condominium, where the price of a two-bedroom apartment is about $500,000.

Neither Forrest's nor John's dwelling is the sort where you would expect a billionaire to live.

A recent tour of John's up-for-sale house, which was comfortably but not extravagantly appointed, required prospective buyers to make a quick two-step around an awkwardly placed refrigerator before entering the tiny kitchen.

If you like, call it poverty mentality - I don't fvcking care! grin

Car Talk / Court Orders Coscharis Jaguar To Replace San's ₦24m Jaguar Car by Cargist44: 7:09am On Dec 20, 2019
The Igbosere magistrate court in Lagos has ordered Coscharis Motors Limited, a leading automobile sales, and servicing company, and Jaguar Landrover Limited to swap the Jaguar XJ 2.0 Sedan Mr. Olusina Sofola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, bought from their company to a brand new one.

Mrs. M.O Osinbajo, the magistrate supported Mr. Sofola's claim that the Jaguar he bought as brand new for ₦24 million in December 2016 was purchased with manufacturing defects.

In their defence, Coscharis had asserted that the said defects which the car had within the three months it was bought by the SAN was as a result of his carelessness.

Sofola told the court that the Jaguar's Chassis number was SAJAA12NIFPV79999 while the engine number was 040914054912204PT. He also stated that the car came with 3 years warranty.

He said he observed that the car's bonnet wasn't closing properly the day it was delivered to him, being December 7, 2016. He lodged a complaint to Coscharis and was told to bring the Jaguar to their Ikeja branch office to be fixed.

According to him, he complied and it was taken to their office, believing that the issue will be fixed once and for all. But not so.

He said,

"A few days after, I noticed that the car’s instrument display was showing ‘maintenance due’ sign and the dashboard and other parts of the interior of the car were peeling and were very sticky to touch. immediately,I complained to an official of Cocharis, one Mr Umukoro, who promised to sort out the issues and who further assured me that the defective parts would be ordered and re-installed in the car."

Naijauto learned Sofola returned the Jaguar to Coscharis office in Awoyaya for repairs after a week of acquiring the car.

Sofola went further to narrated that some pebbles cracked the car's windscreen in February 2017 and he took it to Coscharis Ikeja office. There, he was presented with ₦1,097,035.17 as a quotation to replace the windscreen and other damaged car parts as well.

He said,

"Upon the return of the car to me, I noticed that the interior part of the car earlier complained of were worse than when I initially complained of them and upon closer inspection, I discovered that someone had attempted to paint the interior parts or panels complained of to make them appear new.
I also noticed that the windscreen for which I paid N1,097,035.17 had a white spot on it, which did not clear when the screen was washed.
I had to return the car to the Ikeja office of the 1st defendant, which insisted that I return the car to its Awoyaya office, which I did and I was informed that the Ikeja office was wrong to have painted the interior part and that there was an error in the installation of the windscreen."

According to the SAN, Coscharis office in Awoyaya promised that the faulty car parts will be ready in a week's time after an order has been placed.

The parts got to be replaced in May 2017. When the car was returned to him, Sofola observed that the car had a leakage, making water to enter the car whenever there's a downpour.

Again, Sofola complained and was told by Coscharis to return the Jaguar. There, the company told him the leakage was because the windscreen wasn't properly installed.
He said he left the car at their Awoyaya office for four days, yet the leakage persisted.

Sofola said,

"Between 2016 when I bought the car and July 2017, I had to return the car for repairs for over 10 times and as a result of the unplanned and excessive distance travelled while going back and forth to the 1st defendant’s office, the car’s odometer had already reached 5,000km.
I have since inception been deprived of the optimal enjoyment I expected in a brand new car which I bought with a large sum of money.
PAINTThe car has also spent approximately 30 days in the possession of the 1st defendant since it was bought. I have had to find alternative means of transporting myself about, causing me unnecessary financial expenses.
The manufacturing defects in the car could have been avoided if the defendant had been cautious enough to check and ensure that the parts were intact and the car was fit for its purpose and use before putting it up for sale and eventually selling and delivering same to me,"

While pronouncing the judgment on November 28, 2019, Mrs. Osinbajo, the magistrate, stated that there has been a breach from Cocharis and Jaguar to deliver a sound car to Sofola.

She said,

"The defendants are ordered to replace the Jaguar XJ 2.0 Sedan automobile with Chassis No. SAJAA12NIFPV79999 and Engine No. 040914054912204PT sold the claimant with a brand new one of the same specifications."

There was also an order that both auto companies pay Sofola ₦1million.

Food / Man Roasts Pork In An Old Datsun Car During Australian Scorching Temperature by Cargist44: 9:14am On Dec 19, 2019
An Australian man has set the internet buzzing by cooking pork meat inside his old Datsun Sunny car on an extremely hot day in Perth.

Stu Pengelly observed that the heatwave in Australia has become severe so he decided to see if the temperature can cook pork inside his car.

He placed the pork in a baking container and put it on his car seat, leaving it to roast for 10 hours.
Naijauto learned that he monitored the heat inside the car with a thermometer throughout the day. The temperature was said to be 30 °C at 7.am. It rose to a whopping 81°C (177° Fahrenheit) by 1.pm.
,

Pengelly was able to cook roast pork in his old Datsun car

Pengelly shared the pictures of the roasted pork cut into slices on Facebook.

And according to him, "It worked like a treat!"

He said that the doors and windows of his car are tinted, which even prevented the car from getting hotter than it was.

Other Facebook users reacted to his post, with some describing how they had cooked in a heatwave and others humorously asking to be invited to his next pork roast.

Pengelly, however, used his experience to advise people on the dangers of a heatwave.

He wrote,

"Do not leave anyone or anything precious to you in a hot car, not for a minute.
And if you do see kids or dog in a hot car, don't hesitate to smash the window to get them out as soon as possible."

Weather forecasters say the temperature in Australia keeps getting hot since this month, adding that the heatwave could get to 122° C

Nairaland / General / Car Exploded As Driver Lit Up Cigarette After Using Air Freshener by Cargist44: 7:02am On Dec 18, 2019
A lot of folks are oblivious to the consequences of having an aerosol can and naked flame in a confined space. What’s even worse is when the confined space turns out to be a car in traffic.

A driver in New York traffic had blown up his own car by lightning a cigarette just a few moments of spraying excess air freshener inside his car.

Reports gathered by Naijauto says, the motorist didn't ventilate his car after spraying too much air freshener and had gone ahead immediately to lit a cigarette. The gas from the air freshener can was said to have ignited causing an explosion that blew up the car's windscreen and windows while bending the car doors.

Not only that, the explosion was so powerful that it also blew apart some windows of businesses closer to the scene of the explosion.

Fortunately, the driver only sustained minor injuries and was attended to by paramedics at the scene.

The police told local media that the blast which happened in Halifax could have worsened while advising people on the need to adhere to safety rules.

Car Talk / Man Killed By Lexus IS300 Controlled From Remote by Cargist44: 7:49am On Dec 17, 2019
A New York man has been killed by an empty Lexus IS300 car that was remotely started.

21-year-old Michael Kosanovich was reported to be standing between two 2002 Lexus IS300 cars when one of the vehicles was started by the owner with remote control.

The car was said to have rolled forward and in the process, pinned Kosanovich between the two Lexus cars. Passerbys rushed to rescue him. They tried to push both cars apart, however, as the cars were being separated, the car lurched forward again and crushed him a second time.

The incident happened on the 6th December and according to the NYPD, Kosanovich was rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries on his legs and torso. He died the following day.

Naijauto gathered that the 21-year-old man has gone car shopping and has considering buying the 2002 Lexus car which he was inspecting when the incident happened.

A representative of Toyota Motors said,

"Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Michael Kosanovich.
Although many details are unknown at this time, we have reached out to local law enforcement to offer support in the investigation."

Toyota told newsmen that they didn't install a remote control in the 2002 Lexus IS300 car. This implies that the remote ignition was an aftermarket modification.

The instruction manual that came with the system warned users of its usage.

It said,

"they should never remotely start the engine if they are unaware of the circumstances surrounding the vehicle as it could pose a threat to the lives of anyone in the car's vicinity."

Family / 3-year-old Scratches 10 Audi Cars In Showroom, Parents Asked To Pay ₦10.4 Millio by Cargist44: 7:39am On Dec 17, 2019
A Chinese couple who took their 3-year-old child along on a trip to a car showroom in China on November 24th had been put in a financial nightmare after their daughter got creative on some of the brand new cars on display.

Naijauto gathered that the child had used a small stone to scratch the body of some brand new Audi cars and SUVs as the couple was shopping around the showroom.

The incident occurred in Guilin, China. And while the names and models of most of the affected cars weren't listed in the reports gathered, it did mention the Audi Q3, sold for $34,700 (₦12.5 million) and the 2020 Audi Q3, which is worth $68,200 (₦25 million).

The car dealer demanded he is compensated for the damages done on the cars with the sum of 200,000 Yuan (₦10.4 million). The parents of the child objected as the money was much and they couldn't afford it.

The car dealer, on his own part, said the damaged cars can't be sold as new cars again even after repainting them. Their prices have now been reduced and if he goes ahead to sell them at their normal prices with buyers being aware of the damages, he will be labeled as a fraudster.

As both parties couldn't settle the matter, it was taken to the court on December 3rd. There, a decision was reached and the couple ended up paying 70,000 Yuan. That's ₦3.6 million.

While in court, the couple had given some reasons why they shouldn't pay for the damages such as The child is still young or The child doesn't understand .

The court said they're not valid and they advised the parents to always monitor their child and teach her how to value the things she sees around her

Celebrities / Arnold Schwarzenegger Spotted Cruising Around On His Electric Hummer H1 by Cargist44: 8:15am On Dec 12, 2019
Y’all heard the gist of the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk driving his recently launched Cybertruck prototype around Malibu, California, and how it erupted a debate on social media platforms.

Was his Cybertruck road legal? Did he even notice he knocked down a cone?

Well, it appears the Tesla boss isn’t the only one driving around California in an electric trunk.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was spotted behind the wheels of his electric Hummer H1

Arnold Schwarzenegger was also cruising in style too. He was spotted behind the wheels of his electric Hummer H1. And he sure bragged about it on his Twitter handle, @Schwarzenegger . Yea, Arnold may be from the older generation but he’s quite active on social media. He’s even a TikTok user, as the video of him cruising around on his electric Hummer was shot with the TikTok video app.

He posted the video on Twitter with the caption,
‘’Speak softly and carry a big stick. My electric Hummer may be quiet but it’s ballsy’’.

Naijauto learned the former California governor has been a fan of military vehicles but recently started advocating for environmentally friendly issues despite "hypocrite" controversies. With this, he got his Hummer H1 transformed into an electric ride, all thanks to an Australian engineering firm called Kreisel.

Nairaland / General / Apapa Gridlock Is Back As Imports Surge, With Road Rehabilitation by Cargist44: 7:44am On Dec 11, 2019
Apapa road users have gone back to experiencing the severe gridlock that always builds up along the Apapa access road. This development is coming after the commuters had a brief break from congestion, as a result of the Ijora Link Bridge and Kilometers 2 Apapa/Wharf road that was rehabilitated and reopened in December 2018.

Commuters who plied the Ikorodu road to CMS on Saturday lamented that it took them three hours. Even other Lagosians who left their houses between Friday and Sunday also experienced gridlock.

The traffic was worsened by the Federal Government's 72 hours partial closure of the Mile 2-Tin Can road to enable contractors to work on the Mile 2 Apapa/Oshodi road. Again, coupled with the fact that the road experiences heavy traffic during the festive period.

With the closure of borders between the country and her neighbouring countries, Naijauto , gathered that the number of cargoes has increased since August.

Following the border closure, the nation was warned of imminent congestion because of the cargo volume increase.
Ap Moeller, the largest cargo station in Lagos ports gave the warning via a statement titled "A call to action as container volumes rises".

It says,

"This positive development can be attributed to various positive government policies such as improvement in the implementation of ease of doing business policy, the Agriculture Promotion Policy and closure of land borders to curtail smuggling activities, among others.
However, if these containers are not cleared by customers soon enough, this volume increase could lead to high yard density which could impact berthing of vessels resulting in vessel queues.
We are anticipating further improvement in throughput ahead of Christmas and year end."

The GM vehicle import terminal, Tunde Keshinro, also confirmed the surge. He said that the importation of vehicles via the port has increased by 25% since August. A development which, according to him, needed the intervention of the government before it gets out of hand.

Another association that added its voice to the gridlock at Lagos ports is the Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders. Their National Coordinator, Osita Chukwu, was of the view that sending some cargoes coming into Nigeria via the eastern ports would help to decongest the ports while making the cost cheaper for eastern importers who spend a huge amount of money when they're transporting their goods.

Crime / Lady’s New ₦14m Audi Car Snatched After 36 Hours Of Facebook Post by Cargist44: 6:25am On Dec 10, 2019
Everyone loves posting on social media and sharing with friends about almost everything that's happening around them.

A young Londoner woman has gotten the wrong reaction after she took to her Facebook wall to share some photos of a new Audi £30,000 (~₦14 million) car she just bought.

She had posted,

‘'Just picked up this beauty’ after driving away from a dealership with a £30,000 Audi"

However, 36 hours later after the Facebook post, her new ride was hijacked on her driveway.

Naijauto gathered that the young lady who was in her 20s was returning home and wasn't aware that three masked hoodlums were waiting to ambush her in her home in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

From the CCTV footage which captured the incident, she was in the driver's seat on her driveway and going through her bag and phone when two men in black outfits sneaked into the open gate.

As she alighted from her new car, the two men quickly came towards her and attacked her. The young lady let out a scream and they had her pinned to the ground while the third thug jumped into her car. She fought back and tried to drag them out of the car but she was again overpowered which resulted in another manhandling.

Car Talk / Car Swerved Off The Road, Flew Over Several Cars At Dealership (video) by Cargist44: 7:09am On Dec 06, 2019
Don't drive whenever you are dizzy else you'll face the consequences that are bound to follow.

A video making the rounds online has shown the moment a car flew into the air and over dozens of vehicles lined up for sale at a car dealership, before crash landing and hitting two parked cars. The crash was said to have occurred at Crystal Ford Lincoln, an auto dealership in Citrus Florida.

The car, a white Toyota Camry, had swerved off the road and then went over an embankment before flying into the air and over several cars without hitting any of them.

According to the sales manager of the auto dealership, Bruce Azevedo,

"You could feel it. You could feel the, I don’t know, in your chest the compression when it hit.
And then as we spun around to see it, I saw it take out the Navigator. Which if the Navigator wasn’t there it probably would’ve went into the showroom."

A Citrus County police say the driver was hospitalized after the crash but he's expected to be alright.

Car Talk / Angry Londoner Throws Eggs And Paint On Motorist's Car For Inconsiderate Parking by Cargist44: 6:50am On Dec 06, 2019
A London motorist got furious with the way a fellow driver parked his Lexus car at a parking lot that he threw eggs at the car and splashed white paint all over it too.
The car got more than it bargained for when its owner parked wrongly at a parking spot in London

A man identified as Alasdair Duncan sighted the messy condition of the car on his way to work in Ladbroke Grove, a road in London.

An angry note written by the furious driver was also left on the black Lexus car.
The note said,
"Consider others when you park!"

From the report gathered by Naijauto , the Lexus car was parked in such a way that, only four feet was left behind it. With this, no car can fit into the four feet space left behind the parked car.

Alasdair who posted a picture of the Lexus car on Facebook was of the view that the act was an overreaction, though he agreed that the car was poorly parked.

He said,

"It’s a bit nuts, isn’t it? Somebody is not very settled in themselves. It’s a weird thing.
Perhaps they know the person, perhaps there’s some history. You don’t know if it’s the same person who left the note who [threw the paint] although we presume [it was].
The paint was wet when I saw it, so I guess it was a fresh action. The paint had no sign of drying."

On his way back from work around 1.pm, Alasdair noticed that the car hasn't left the spot and the owner was also not in sight.

His post on Facebook has gathered over 335 comments as at the time of this report.

A user commented that,

"Who carries paint around with them? Just in case?"

Another wrote,

"I'm not sure bad parking justifies criminal damage."

Well, be considerate whenever you're parking your car at a parking lot. You can never tell the action that might be taken against your car.
