When a girl dates a man about 10-20 years older than she is, it is considered an aberration. If for a moment you think that it is simply because the age gap is much that people believe it is wrong then think again.

Actually, society likes what is traditional. The second reason society fights this kind of relationship is because they believe the young girls are cruelly taking away what rightfully belongs to others. This is why you will hear statements like, “This small girl is dating this old man when there are women out there that are this man’s age who are looking for husbands.” They say this forgetting that men are not possessions that particular people can lay claim to. 

Thus, if you find yourself genuinely interested in an older guy and you hear some crass statements. Don’t let that bother you and know it comes from either of these perspectives.
