kgr8mike: Mr President, I love you. This is what am thinking: that you are a GOOD LUCK to Nigeria. I pray that this GOOD LUCK will extend to Super Eagles come 2014 in Brazil. Am trying to forget the can-do spirit you talked about. It may not be that because the likes of Sweden,Mexico,Brazil, Argentina came with that kind of spirit but it is not to him that wills, nor to him that runs but of God that says, Jacob I love but Esau I hate. I think I am only very grateful to this God that navigated us to victory. May our story remain this way. GOOD LUCK Nigeria. Congratulations Mr. President. God bless my country.
it is by God's grace that we came out victorious. God has given us the 'can do spirit' and out of it he has spoken. God, having giving us dz trophy 3 times more than the aforementioned countries b4 dz particular tournament , i think the 'can do spirit' cannot be over emphasized.

deols: If polygyny was not likely to happen, I doubt that putting it as a part of the criteria would be necessary.

I really don't know what tpia is trying to prove. The fact remains that, having multiple wives was not seen as a necessity for a Muslim Imam..

and Imams were chosen among the most educated of people.

We can imbibe at least some of that, if not all.
d tpia@ gal, is she against polygamy ;in order word, marrying more than one?
She go taya cos me i go marry 4. Make she carry her crusade go somewhere.
Islam › Re: 16th Century Ottoman Ad For An Imam Vacancy by Caseless: 8:04pm On Nov 08, 2013
If you can point to any other muslim ad where a 16th century muslim imam is required to have only one wife, i'll agree with you.
and u think as it was possible for the keepers of tha ad to preserve this, others shld hav theirs displayed too? U shld hav taken ur time to weigh the civilization in turkey then and other muslim dominated areas in the past.
Islam › Re: 16th Century Ottoman Ad For An Imam Vacancy by Caseless: 3:07pm On Nov 08, 2013
The turks took over the old eastern roman empire, but they did not abandon the cultural practices even though they became muslim.

The romans did not practice polygamy, same as the ancient greeks.

Also why the requirements for an imam included he must be educated, versed in latin, sciences and humanities, etc.
'ill-informed'!
Islam › Re: 16th Century Ottoman Ad For An Imam Vacancy by Caseless: 3:05pm On Nov 08, 2013
it depends on the culture and country.

turkey generally does not espouse polygamy.

nigeria does, because polygamy is part of the culture and the muslims who practice it do so as part of their deen.

some muslim countries also ban hijab, do you agree with that?
only turkey did this in order to gain EU's recognition and, the ban has been lifted so as to meet the demand of those rebels. Women now wear hijab to public places.
