The 8a has only a single camera unlike the 8's dual
The redmi 8a comes with a lower processor
The redmi 8 has a better display
The redmi 8a lacks fingerprint sensor
The redmi 8a has a relatively slow charging speed even with the acclaimed fsatcharging it takes 3 hrs plus to be fully charged with the inbox charger and 2hrs plus to be fully charged on the 18w charger.

Based on my experience. Xiaomi makes very durable phones that can last for years. Nokia also makes good phones but not as durable as xiaomi. Personally i would go for a xiaomi. I'm awaiting the announcement of the Mia4
