We don't want America poke-nosing in Nigeria's affair more than they already are. They should mind their own business, let Nigeria mind hers. |
That's a lion suffering from malnutrition, not "a strange looking lion". If you can't release him in the wild, at least feed him. |
Fuckyoumod:If you don’t know something, you ask questions and learn. Neo-colonialism is the Operating System that runs beneath everything. Corruption is just one of the favourite plug-ins. Who do you think enabled this “deeply rooted system of corruption” you talked about? Our leaders are corrupt but many of them are products and puppets of a system designed by outsiders to make sure Africa never controls its own wealth. Why do you think UK and USA meddle in our politics? You think it’s coincidence that we export crude oil but import petrol? You’re looking at the effect, not the root cause. Who do you think benefits when our leaders are corrupt? Who supplies the weapons that fuel our conflicts? You think IMF and World Bank policies are charity? Who do you think controls pricing mechanism for commodities, impose structural adjustment programs and dictate economic models that keep us dependent on exports of raw materials instead of finished goods? And in your own mind, you are educated? In your mind you think your “education” has liberated your mind? The irony is stark. |
Onewazobia:A vast majority of "we" are ignorant to this reality, thus thinking Nigeria's or Africa's problems are solely our politicians. A vast majority of "we" are distracted by brain rots and divided along religious and ethnic lines. Also some of "our leaders" who were genuine pan Africans, who wanted to break free of western powers were murdered by the same western powers all in the bid to make sure Africa remains the continent where the rest of the world extract cheap resources, poor and undeveloped. Think Thomas Sankara, Muhammad Gaddafi, Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba etc. Then the majority of African leaders are puppets who are put in their positions by western powers and in that case, whoever pays the piper dictates the tune. Africa will never rise until foreign powers lose their influence on the continent. Africa is the only continent in the world that has every resources necessary to sustain full industrial and technological independence. We can match and surpass the levels of America, Europe, China, and that's exactly the reason why foreign powers have us in perpetual bondage. Think about it. |
Neo-colonialism is still very much Africa's reality. Meredith in his book "The fortunes Of Africa" write something like: “As the end of colonial rule approached, Europeans followed the old adage: ‘Give them parliament and keep the banks.’” Which means, let them govern themselves = "Independence" and bank means resources. How do they still control our resources? through meddling with our politics, sponsoring terrorists to cause instability, unfair trade policies, debt trap through institutions like IMF etc, Africa will never be independent without removing Western claws from our neck. Election is soon around the corner, it's not a coincidence that the killings of christians in Nigeria suddenly caught the attention of America. It’s not a coincidence that despite Nigeria having a vast arable land, we are still importing our food and exporting cash-crops like cocoa, cotton, shea butter, cashew nuts, palm products etc. It’s all by design. Nigeria has all it takes to be a world power but that will be a threat to the West and they will do everything possible to not let it happen. This video by Professor Howard Nicholas puts a lot into relatable perspective |
SmartPolician:The moment you realise that politics and religion works in tandem, that will be your light bulb moment. It's not just a Nigeria phenomenon, it's worldwide. Religion bore politics and both are intertwined. Now, the moment you separate spirituality from religion will be your eye opening moment. |
onuman:If you look at it from the context of the fact that these BH guys have sophisticated weapons in their arsenal. Procurement of arms by the NAF is largely dependent on the West but procurement timeline is ridiculously slow despite submitting tenders on time etc. Would you not think this is deliberate? Also given the fact that the West who are notorious for covet operations, still has a grip on Nigeria, don't you think BH is another tool in their tried-and-tested playbook? France and Ukraine are sponsoring insurgencies in the Sahel but you think BH are lone wolf Taliban wannabes? I don't outrightly disagree with you on the correlation between Taliban and BH and their archaic laws but in my opinion, I don't think you're looking at the bigger picture. |
Maybe the same external powers sponsoring Boko Haram are the same external powers that kicked out Goodluck Jonathan and installed Buhari on Nigerians? 🤔🤔 I'm not saying.....just thinking. |
Independence? Is Nigeria really independent? You can't keep milking a nursing cow by soft force and wish her a happy birthday every time she turns a year old. That's not well wishes, that's deceit and evil. |
Winnin009:Mystery solved - geography clearly skipped two generations. Just don't let it hit a third. Well, my dad told me never to argue about continents without passing geography class... or at the very least, without opening a map. |
Had two EGR recalls on mine in 2023. They fixed it for free and compensated me for my time ![]() |
Winnin009:Yes exactly, I would tell my child Russia today is geographically split between two continents (Europe & Asia - Eurasia) with 77% in Asia and 23% in Europe. What did your dad tell you? |
Cabals fighting back or what? We can criticise foreign powers (and rightly so) but proportionately, Nigerians are Nigeria's problems. |
It's typical and normal with Gypsy communities to marry early. It's their tradition and culture. Tyson Fury himself began dating her mum at the same age as well. |
Falseprofet2:The project obviously didn't go ahead because "Friends of the Earth - Nigerian branch" (Which was started by, guess who? USA, UK, Sweden, France) decided that it's not a good idea for Nigeria to own and operate nuclear plants because of possible "radiation accident". We have massive unexplored uranium deposits in the North by the way. Whatever the masters pressure us on, we must comply. The intention from them is clear - Africa MUST NOT rise. Also successive governments seem to shelve the projects of its predecessors in Nigeria. |
Winnin009:Ok Geography teacher. I mean Europe ( |
This is something Europe or America will never do for Africa. They don't want us to use our resources for our own good and they want those resources dirt cheap. Africa hasn’t had the same chance to build nuclear plants, despite supplying the raw uranium to the West. They benefitted first from fossil and nuclear, but now wants Africa to “skip” that phase and focus on renewables so that they can sell solar/wind technologies to us. Nuclear and gas are the only real options for constant 24/7 industrial scale power. Yes we need renewable sources too but it cannot on its own meet Africa's needs. The West should not tell us what to do or how to do it anymore. Good on Ethiopia and Niger. |
The unfortunate guy probably didn't weigh 100Kg but attempting to carry 200Kg weight on his head. That's instant stroke or paralysis, he must have ruptured a blood vessel in his brain causing hemorrhage, or he may have suffered from collapsed/compressed spinal cord. Either one of the two or both. This is a stupid, avoidable death |
Africa of course! Why am I not surprised? The colonisers really did a number on us. |
wonlasewonimi:Oh yes and that one too. Especially now that the noise around Charlie Kirk’s assassination (which I think the "suspect" in custody may not be the culprit) is simmering down bit by bit. |
Trump's plot is clear - Detach EU completely from Russia's oil so that Europe will be completely reliant on USA for oil and gas. Sell weapons to NATO-EU (who is broke by the way) to continue an already lost war, bringing more money to America's military complex. Trump is trying to kill two birds with one stone, use EU (who are already America's vassal states) to revive America's dying economy, and completely detach Europe from the BRICS market. His non-alliance with Ukraine especially, is clear as day. The guy said “In any event, I wish both countries well. We will continue to supply weapons to NATO for NATO to do what they want with them. Good luck to all”. Guy is washing his hands off while making money for America through arms sale (which I doubt EU can afford) and Liquified Natural Gas sales. |
Again, external open lab agenda dressed as "philanthropy". No billionaire should hold this much power over the health future of millions. Time we rid ourselves of these cycle of traps disguised as philanthropy. There's a reason Traore destroyed the Bill Gates GMO mosquitos in Burkina Faso. |
Well, UN and ICC has long gone past their expiry date especially pertaining to African issues. Trump has recently been talking about sanctioning ICC because of their investigation into Bibi’s war crime in Gaza but it’s Ok to weaponise the same ICC against Putin who has legitimate national security concerns. Good riddance to ICC in the Sahel states. They serve selective justice that are not in the interests of Africa. Absolutely useless institutions. |
Trump has totally lost his mind. As a matter of fact, USA did not build the Bagram Base. The Soviet Union did |
Always celebrating mediocrity "Another success story from the diaspora" Someone that could be used against the best interest of Nigeria and Africa in the near future. Laughing in Michael Langley |
Putin obviously testing NATO and he finds them wanting. He knows they can't do anything. No spine, just press release after press release. |
Saao:Brilliant logic. Nairaland is never short of smart, knowledgeable thinkers |
Jakumo:Haha I like your sense of humour |
