First class graduate, youngest HOD in the building department over 5 years ago.
Had a project close to his house around last year November and invited him to come see a cantilever we were trying to project and he came and lectured I and my colleagues intensively with joy and laughter and fun.
That accident happened on Easter Thursday or Friday along ore-benin express way abi ijebu ofe-ore. Only three persons survived on their bus.

2020 just before end sars protest, I was inside Keke with one guy and police patrol car double crossed us and the Keke guy parked. These guys searched me and found nothing on me, they searched the other guy and found lighter and rizzler on him.
Seeing that the guy wasn't looking quite well off, these bastard officers tried to handcuff me and the guy together and I refused saying I didn't know the guy. They did all they could, slapped me, tried to push me into the car and I refused. Me I don't smoke and you want to implicate me with someone you saw lighter and rizzler on. O boy I nor gree oo. Dem point me gun, do everything, I nor gree.
Eventually, when they saw that true true I couldn't budge, one of them had to pet me and told me to gently follow them to the station and I ended up following them to their station. These guys pulled my clothes to my boxer and searched me and searched my phones for any incriminating thing and couldn't find anything. Then they now told me to give them anything on behalf of the guy they caught with rizzler and that was how I gave them 2k then and they released the guy from handcuff and myself.

God go punish these foolish bastards...If na now self, if police catch me with lighter, make them born their papa well make them try this kind bullshit with me make I know when lighter become contraband for naija.

You can still work your nysc to serve and still teach at the school where you currently teach. It'll be a win win for you

Bro you are not tackling the issue. Was house rent this exorbitantly high 2-3 years ago? Comfortable self con used to be 180-200k where I stay just around 3 years ago. But now, a comfortable self con is between 350-400k in average and some places is over 450k. 2 bedroom flat that used to be 450-600k is not 1.2-1.7k.
Free the corper girl and address the issue of skyrocketing prices. She may have siblings or parents or a boyfriend or even a business sustaining her lifestyle. She didn't cry for you or for the government to pay her rent. She is only crying for the government to do better so people can have a better standard of living.
I remember in 2021 when we buried my late dad, I was earning just 60k as a fresh graduate who was yet to serve by then. From that 60k I was able to save to foot some of the burial expenses. My one month salary was able to buy 2 bags of rice and 1 20 litre gallon of groundnut oil. Cow head with the neck then, we bought at 65k. A carton of beer then was 2400. Ambulance was 8k.
as at December when my bro did an occasion, two bags of rice were 200k, 29 litre gallon of groundnut oil was 57k, a crate of Heineken was 14k, cow head with the neck was 280k, etc.
So why leave the serious issues at hand to tackle someone who paid rent of 1m with 33k allowee. After all, she didn't tell you she paid her rent from her allowee savings.

But the reason why it seems people no longer take police seriously is that these people kill innocent civilians and tag them unknown gunmen or ipob or whatever bad name to justify their wickedness.
Take for instance, the guy that police threatened to kill and tag ipob and used the threat to extort over 60m from him. Imagine what would have happened if he failed to comply. They would have killed him and tagged him an ipob criminal.
There's another case where these men killed our village brother in cold blood in broad daylight and took his corpse away. Few days later, we read in the news how police hunted down an unknown gunman and in the process, they exchanged gunfires and they neutralized one while the others ran into the bushes with various degrees of gunshot wounds. Bro, police people tied a red cloth around this guy's waist, drop a machete and one old locally made pistol on his dead body. This was someone they shot point blank to the head while he never had any weapon nor fought or argued with them. His only offense was that he saw people on muffty arresting and taking away his brother and came down from his bike to enquire what was going on and these people shot him point blank in the head.

And from these sales, they will still buy other food items expensively. If I am selling red oil a gallon for 5k when rice was selling for 34k per bag, why will I not increase the price to 30k now that rice is 100k per bag for me to be able to afford to buy rice after selling my red oil.

In my experience, I will say, I was opportuned to meet and have wonderful friends, though just about 4 and we've been solid on good friends turn brothers for 10 years and counting.
From our very first year in school to six years after we finished school. We've always been there for one another and through collective efforts, we've all grown from just mere young undergraduates to fully grown men already planning marriage and whatever next phase life throws.
We've been that close to the point that despite coming from different states, we now live in the same estate, each in his own apartment.
The trust is so strong that I can give any of these guys 10m for a business and if he comes back to tell me that the deal failed and the money was lost, I won't even doubt him.

By making sure I do what I love all the days of my life, surround yourself with enjoyment and money and you don't need nobody, there's more to life than having useless friends who don't contribute jack sh!t to your life, what's having so many friends gonna do for you anyway? And why do you need many friends, so you can have people to talk to endlessly? Me wey talking dey even hard me, if you talk too much I cut you off, stop placing importance on the wrong things, enjoy the one life you have and bullsh!t every other things.

Sorry about the death of your mum. But sorry to ask. While you reflected on those people who never turned up or sincerely sympathized on your mum's demise, did you also take out time to ask yourself if you were helpful also to them in their own times of need.
If you have friends you turn up for, then it feels like betrayal when they fail to turn up for you in your own time.
But it will be selfish to not extend care to people and expect people to extend care to you when it is your turn.
While we clamour for good friends, we should also create time to be the good friend first.
