This thief was allegedly caught stealing around 2am this morning at Overcomers church in Orji, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State. People had to appeal to the mob not to set him ablaze after beating him mercilessly before the police came and took him away. Here are photos from the virgin girl ceremony held in Ogu town, Rivers state on Saturday, December 3. Iria ceremony is a Wakirike tradition where a teenager must go through before giving out for marriage. According to reports, the tradition has been practiced ever since, before ever a girl child is given out, this is a task that her parents will do then as a grown-up girl, she can then be free for any man to have her in marriage. The Chiefs will bless them and give them gift during this event for encouragement. They elders critically screened the girls as culture demands; the correct traditional dressing, moving style in steps, height, skin appearance, hair style etc… but be in line with the tradition. According to reports filtering in from Yobe state, soldiers brutally dispersed Dariqa Muslims conducting Maulud celebrations in front of Emir of Fika Palace yesterday in Potiskum... The crowd of Muslims gathered in front of the palace of the Emir of Fika, Alhaji Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammad Idriss, to celebrate the event as done before in previous years. Soldiers from nowhere immediately stormed the venue to disperse the crowd who all took to their heels with many abandoning their footwear and other items to avoid being caught up after the pandemonium broke out. A 10-year-old boy, Musa Amadu has suffered first degree burns on his hands after his Qur’anic school teacher scalded him for refusing to run errands. The incident took place at a Qur’anic school in Kura town, 35 kilometers from Kano. It was gathered that sometime in September, the school teacher, identified as Yawale, asked the pre-teen child to wash his cloth, but the boy took excuse that he was sick. Dissatisfied with the response of the boy, the school teacher heated water to a boiling point, beat him to a pulp and dipped his both hands into it as punishment. The school teacher, who was allegedly sitting in for the head teacher at the time of the assault, was arrested by the police. Doctors at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital have already amputated Musa’s badly damaged fingers, but was not allowed to go home as his parents were unable to settle the medical bills. It's a moment of joy for Nigerian boxer, Oluwafemi Oyeleye, who recently signed a contract with Floyd Mayweather promotional company, after coming out victorious on his professional debut. The 2015 All Africa Games gold medalist, won the fight against Brian True at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on Friday. Oyeleye, who won gold in the 69kg welterweight category in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, recently signed a promotional contract with Mayweather Promotions, a boxing promotional firm founded by five-division world and eleven-time world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2007. The 21 year old boxer who won 166 fights as an amateur moved to the United States last March in controversial circumstances after failing to secure a spot on the boxing team to the Rio Olympics Boxing Trials held in Cameroun. Eight staff of Yobe College of Education, Gashua, died on Saturday in a motor accident along Bayamari-Dapchi federal highway, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. It was gathered that the eight non-academic staff, including the driver, were travelling from Gashua to Damaturu in the college bus to attend a promotion examination. The survivors of the accident said the vehicle had a burst tyre, which forced it to somersault several times, thereby killing eight people while five others sustained injuries. The provost of the college, Alhaji Muhammad Gishiwari, who confirmed the accident, said it was a huge loss to the college. Meanwhile, Gov. Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe, has described the death of the staff as a great loss to the state, their families and the country.
