Yesterday, Sunday 11th December 2016, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai visited some deployments of 7 Division Garrison and 25 Task Force Brigade where he interacted with troops. He addressed troops at Delwa, Musafanari, Bulabulin, Damboa, Sabongari and Biu. During the visit he addressed both officers and soldiers. Specifically he addressed troops of 81 Battalion at Bulabulin where he reiterated his goodwill message of no more time to waste and urged them to maintain the momentum and keep the spirit high. He enjoined to work hard to ensure that main residents of the community are back. He also informed them of his effort as regards their welfare such as planned rotation. In 254 Battalion he commented them for their wonderful efforts. He expressed happiness that Boko Haram terrorists are meeting their Waterloo in their area of responsibility. He directed that they must Maintain the aggression through regular patrols and ambushes. They must move into nook and crannies where the terrorists are hiding and smoke them out. The COAS also addressed the officers where he emphasized on exemplary conduct and leadership. At Sabon Gari, the COAS addressed officers and soldiers of Alpha Company where he commended them for their wonderful efforts. He also shared meal with the troops. Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has assured those injured during the collapse building at Reigners Bible Church International of the best medical attention saying that Doctors, Nurses and other medical experts have been drafted to assist in the treatment of affected persons. Governor Emmanuel who worshipped at Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo alongside his Cabinet members, emphasized that the life of every citizen is of utmost importance to his administration and that he is not oblivious of the recession but would source for assistance to ensure their recovery. "As Christians we need not question God on why disaster occurred but trust on his divine will in all situations and show empathy to the families whose love ones are affected". He stated. Clad in black attire to reflect the solemn mood which the incident has thrown the state into, Mr Emmanuel announced a - two day of mourning in honour of the victims of the collapsed Church building and urged all to rally round those hospitalised to ensure their recovery while praying for the state stating that "affliction shall not occurr the second time". He used the occasion to condemn the spate of speculation by a section of the media on dead toll in the ill - fated incident and passionately appealed to relations of the victims to remain calm to enable the state ascertain the number of casaulties maintaining that corpses would not be released until after the two days of mourning. Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State visits the state headquarters of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA to inspect the 233 bags of Marijuana impounded by the agency following a raid on the residence of a suspected notorious drug peddler ,Tagbo Igwebuike Nwafor, at Ululor in Awgu Local Government Area of the state. The suspect who is still at large, was reported to have been in the business for long. His mother, Mrs. Caroline Nwafor, said to be an accomplice was apprehended by the agency during the raid for further interrogation. Governor Ugwuanyi after the inspection commended the NDLEA for their gallant efforts in impounding the illicit drugs, and charged them to go after the drug peddler and his syndicate to ensure that they are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law... There's an ongoing pandemonium in Rivers state after governor Nyesom Wike accompanied by supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party stormed the INEC office few hours ago. According to the raging crowd, they stormed the office to prevent the "manipulation of the election results by the INEC." They were stopped by the security operatives from Abuja who blocked and prevented the governor by all means from entering the collation center. In the footage posted online, the governor can be heard angrily shouting that over many hours the INEC officials are yet to announce the results of some important areas. After much shouting and counter-shouting, the armed operatives can be heard shooting in the air with the governor's security solidly protecting him and also firing back. This allegedly happened after the people stood their grounds to prevent rigging in the just concluded rerun elections. Two suicide bombers struck earlier today win a crowded area near a market in Maiduguri, Borno state -injuring 17 people, according to reports. The blasts occurred near Maiduguri’s Monday Market, just weeks after the state government ordered the reopening of all roads leading to the market. Only the suicide bombers reportedly died in the explosions. Pictured is a female student who survived the explosion and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital... A Senior military officer identified as Alolo from Safana, Katsina state lost his life recently in a battle with Boko Haram insurgents in the northern part of the country. According to people who know him, the father of one was good at heart and loved helping people. May his soul rest in peace...
