DarkCaesar: He was the only one with no trophy to show for it Even Kanu entertained and still got trophies and award to show for it. Osimhen is greater than him already, there is no bad blood about that. How old are you? Okocha won the African Cup of Nations and Olympic gold! He was the midfield general of a Super Eagles team that was ranked 5th in FIFA world rankings in 1995, the highest ranking of an African team till date. |

robosky02: Nigerian journalist claims Osimhen is now greater than Victor Osimhen
Following the CAF Men's Player of the Year triumph over Mohammed Salah and Achraf Hakimi, a renowned Nigerian journalist claimed Victor Osimhen has surpassed JJ Okocha's legacy in Nigerian football.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen ended Nigeria’s 24-year wait for a CAF Men’s Footballer of the Year Award, and this has prompted comparisons with other legends of the sport, more specifically Jay Jay Okocha, who, despite his tremendous efforts, never received the award.
Osimhen’s triumph The APOTY gong rewarded an incredible year for the striker, which not many, if any, players from the country had ever attained.
As cannot be overemphasised, he led Napoli to their first scudetto triumph since Maradona called Naples home, doing it similarly to D10S by scoring the most goals in the league.
Osimhen picked up the Capoocanoniere alongside the league title in a season where he became the highest-scoring African in the entirety of Serie A’s history, and this, in tandem with being named the best player in the continent by CAF, has earned him high praise from a renowned Nigerian journalist.
.
Respected sports journalist Steve Dede, elated by Osimhen’s achievements, stated boldly that the striker had moved past the revered Okocha on the rankings of the greatest-ever players to have donned several shades of green for the Super Eagles.
“Victor Osimhen just moved past Okocha in the ranking of the greatest-ever Nigerian players,” Steve said on X.
Pressed further by Pulse Sports’ Senior Editor Solace Chukwu, who, on his list of the top ten greatest Nigerian footballers of all time, named Jay Jay at 10th, Steve Dede submitted that he was substituting Okocha on said ranking, with Osimhen making an entry at 10th.
Jay-Jay Okocha made his World Cup debut in 1994 (Credit: IMAGO/Buzzi) Jay-Jay Okocha made his World Cup debut in 1994 (Credit: IMAGO/Buzzi Mumu Journalist. Osimhen is a striker. What stupidity makes you wonder who is “bigger” between a midfielder and a striker? Bigger how? If you want to compare Osimhen, you compare him to Yekini, Kanu, Amokachi, Yak etc, not Jay Jay Okocha. That’s just plain dumb. |

Mozegee: Foolishness is a sin, comparing Okocha with Osimehin just because of mere CAF award , meaning you are just out of reality. Most of the guys that won that award can't be compared with Jay jay. When you mention football, JAY Jay name must be called. Don’t mind these useless so-called journalists talking rubbish. |

We have agro processing bisinesses begging for investments yet our youths keep rushing to pay UK government and their universities millions over certificate they might end up not using.. what really is wrong with Nigerians?. THEY ARE STUPID. MUMU PEOPLE. THOUGHTLESS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THE AMOUNTS I AM READING HERE. 15 MILLION. 25 MILLION. WHERE DO YOU PEOPLE FIND THIS KIND OF MONEY, AND YET YOU ARE TALKING OF JAPA? 25 MILLION IS £25,000! I SAW A REPORT RECENTLY THAT SAID OVER 80% OF BRITISH PEOPLE HAVE LESS THAN £400 IN THEIR ACCOUNT. HOW CAN YOU HAVE EVEN £10,000 AND YOU SAY YOU'RE GOING TO LONDON. TO DO WHAT? SECURITY? CLEANING? CARE ASSISTANT? WHY? DO YOU KNOW THE KIND OF HUMILIATION THAT COMES WITH THOSE JOBS? THE WAY THEY WILL BE TALKING TO YOU, LIKE THEIR SERVANT? WHEN YOU CAN STAY IN NIGERIA AND BE AN EMPLOYER OF LABOUR? A BOSS?USE THAT 10 MILLION NAIRA AND ESTABLISH A BUSINESS. THERE ARE SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES IN NIGERIA. IF YOU DON'T KNOW, GO ON GOOGLE AND RESEARCH. IF YOU PUT YOUR HEAD DOWN AND FACE THAT BUSINESS, IN 2 TO 4 YEARS, YOU WILL BE VISITING THAT SAME LONDON AND STAYING IN TOP HOTELS IN WEST LONDON FOR YOUR DURATION, FLEXING LIKE THE BOSS YOU ARE. - Today, Yoruba are cowards. Tomorrow, SE governors are in Lagos to beg Tinubu and Sanwo Olu to temper justice with mercy.
- Today yorubas are timid. Tomorrow during election, yorubas are beating their heads like drum and they cry victimization. You forgot, ''Today they want Biafra. Sitting at home every Monday in their tens of millions for Biafra. Tomorrow, Arewa youths give the 12 million Igbos living in the north 2 weeks to return back to the East and form Biafra. Mynd44 nlfpmod The people you are preaching to DO NOT wish to see Nigeria progress if it's not Peter Obi in charge, or some other Igbo. That's the issue. What sort of sad people are these? They are terrible, ungodly people. What you guys should realise is that these folks are IPOB followers who became ‘emergency Nigerians’ after Peter Obi emerged as candidate for president. They are today still playing the fake role of ‘Nigerians’, courtesy of Obi’s continued presence in our national space. But at core, they are anti-Nigerian secessionists. That’s why bad news about Nigeria pleases them, and good news bites them like a scorpion. |

Some real reforms are going on in Nigeria we don't have to be negative all the time. Exactly. If the report was “Nigeria’s outlook ranked negative”, they would have no issues at all with it, and would have shoved it in our faces, with glee. They are traitorous outcasts pretending to be Nigerians. |

By the way, MILLIONS of Chinese and Indians live in America and Europe, and their countries are the fastest rising economies on Earth, so Japa is not a solely Nigerian or African phenomenon. |

The same people find themselves in Dubai of all places and take to armed robbery and cultism, 5 Nigerian guys tried to rob a Dubai bank and now we have been banned in Dubai. In Ghana they are there kidnapping people and Ghanaians now hate us, in South Africa they are there kidnapping and selling drugs and doing cult activity, all the jails in Asia is brimming full with Nigerians
At some point in time you have to get past the denial and accept that the people are demonic. Nigeria has 230 million people. If just 200,000 of those commit crimes abroad, it would appear to the ignorant such as yourself, that all Nigerians are criminals. But in the Dubai and South Africa you mentioned, there are literally THOUSANDS of highly trained Nigerian professionals working in every conceivable field of endeavour. As are THOUSANDS MORE in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and beyond. So YOU can never make us feel inferior or ''demonic'', no matter how hard you try. |
