I have a robot that does that but haven't updated it since, some people are of the opinion that blocking ips isn't the best option has it will affect my site traffic but rather to instal some anti-spam, I guess I will have to do it my self then

There could be bugs in your code.

I just thought of something , I won't delete those comments again, all I will do now is frustrate that spam bot with my own. Blocking Ips isn't a good idea, I agree with you on that

I have a robot on my server to block unwanted IPs, but its been almost 2years since I updated it, do you think that will work cos I don't know what the robot was looking at while I was been attacked

One thing I noticed is, there is an hacker kind of site that uses naitalk too, infact there is a naitalk. too, is there a way they maybe trying to force me off the web

The comment box is ownly meant for registerd members, however ino one registered so how commemts kept showing for each posts is what I don't undersatnd,

As for the captcha, I hate it with great passion, if I visit a site and I see it, I just move on to the next, that's why I didn't want to use it for mine

I have writen a script now to delete the comments, even with real ones

As I am typing this post to my website is being attacked from a place in Japan, what these sily guy(s) are/is doing is to eat my bandwidth, they keep posting rubbish into the comment box I attached to each post, they found their way into my database, even though I have changed my cpanel pass but this is still going on. Have mailed my host, but I just want to see what I can do before they do something

You only loose data when your server crashes and you have no backups, ddos do not cause data loss servers, they only swallow the available bandwith on the servers link or IP. Another solution to ddos, it to block all originating countries but that would also chew alot of system resources - which take us back to the upstream protection from the data center and not the server.

To the question about ddos protection (if you own a server) - their very little you can do, if the attacker can eat your entire bandwith but if it's minor attack. You can protect your server with mod_evasive, fail2ban, CSF or much dedicated and less crowded cdn providers such as incapsula - whom made an excellent presentation on TTFB (time to first byte) and search engine rankings - another area cloudflare fails. Other CDN include - amazon , cdn77 just to name a few.

Dump cloudflare if you use it.

If we look at it this way, nairaland can't even be blame for the attack but their host, once you hack the host what else remains.
