nnamdi640: You forgot that they receive allowances something most people in private sector don't get. I earn more than them monthly, but with their allowances, I think they are still better than some in private sector, beside their work is stress free what allowances are you talking about? The only allowance that they were supposed to get is earn academic allowance (EAA). And to the best of my knowledge it has not been paid for more than 2 years. |

mathewLonger: [As a staff of one university, to qualify for adjunct or part lecturer in another university, you must be from from Senior Lecturer and above. Lecturers below the rank of senior lecturership do not go on adjunct. To get to a senior lecturer level, an academic staff must have served for an average 12 years with dues publication requirements. So my brother you can see that there is no correlation between fresh graduates not getting job and the practice of part-time or adjunct lecturing in the universities. quote author=TopeQs post=89048492]wow....
just forget, even "senior" staffs don't know how not to show their selfish interest. IPPIS is just a way to curb staffs from collecting salary from more than one avenue, I don't know much about the senior staff but let me talk about the academic staff.
Let me paint a scenario for you, most federal Universities has a part time lecturer that has a full time job in another university, this is not bad but look at the case of some lecturers that go for part time lectures in as much as 3-4 other institutions, this way they are even making 3-4 people jobless because that could have been a job for fresh graduates.
I believe the IPPIS is meant to cover just one more visiting apart from your salary, ASUU will never tell you this but I will, those lecturers that have 2-3 part-time lecturing job will not want IPPIS because it will block the salary of the part-time job. I can tell you that I know of a lecturer that has 4 part time lecturing job in another federal university, please, how will such a person have time for his own full time job, he will be joggling within states just to meet the other while not being able to put a focus on any of them, I was taught by one of them and he never had our time, then we run marathon class so as to cover up for his absenteeism.
ASUU are just motivated by selfish interest, they will never tell you this, this is not the first time that the government is changing their payment system, and it's not like their salary will be reduced, it is just those with too much of an extra work that will be affect.
the IPPIS was introduced to create transparency, yes, there are irregularities but that can definitely be sorted with time.
it is only the government that can be castigated by changing the way they want to pay their staff, could that happen to a private firm?
ponder on this. There is nothing to ponder upon. The scenario you just posted is filled with errors my guy. Do you even know the reason why lecturers go to other universities as visiting lecturers? And do you think fresh graduate can take their place? These are questions you should've asked yourself before making your comment. |

zikter: Many people in Nigeria are so ignorant and will open their mouths and be vomiting rubbish. They like comparing things from so called developed nations but will never look deeper. What is the budget of our education compared to them? What is our fees compared to them? What is the salary of lecturers compare to them? Answer these few questions and you will understand why our public education standard is what it is. Politicians who are of no value to us keep siphoning money in millions monthly and the government turn a blind eye. But lecturers on peanut are raising genuine concerns that relate to the peculiarities of their work and the government is roaring like a wild Lion. They even provided an alternative platform but no, nobody is looking at that I totally agree with you. The level of ignorance is disheartening. The public believe lecturers are collecting mega salaries which is totally not true. |

Please try and look at things objectively and make all you research before making comments on matters you know nothing about. The likes of CBN & FIRS won't be captured on IPPIS because they are revenue generating agencies. Those fraudsters you are referring to is the only union in Nigeria that are fighting for your interest. |

Talk about accidentally meeting your lookalike. The notoriously famous $19,600 Landwind X7 from China based Jiangling Motor company finally met its twin, the $68,000 Range Rover Evoque, though in a rather unforeseen circumstance. Reports suggest that a red Jiangling Landwind X7 and a red Range Rover Evoque brushed against each other in the city of Chongqing, China.

The crash itself wasn’t very serious.Nobody got hurt and the cars were only slightly damaged. Police decided that the driver of the Landwind X7 was to blame, and his insurance will have to cover the costs.
Well, at least the Range Rover won this battle.
Court Case
The Landwind X7 came in news after Jaguar Land Rover filed a copyright infringement case against the chinese automobile manufacturer. But the chinese court declared both company’s (JLR and Jiangling) patents as invalid.
Chinese law pretty much always sides with Chinese business where there’s money to be made.
Owners Landwind is a Chinese car maker jointly owned by Jiangling Motors and Changan Auto, coincidentally both joint venture are partners of Ford, with Jiangling-Ford and Changan-Ford respectively.
Ford owned Land Rover until 2008 when they sold it on to the TATA conglomerate of India.
What are your views on this incident and Who do think is the real Judas or traitor in this copyright infringement case?
