CDG looking so fly, I wanted to start crying again at what we call International Airport in Lasgidi
CDG terminal.
It's Paris Baby! Charles De Gaulle AeroPort welcomes us.
992finland:Hahahahaa aa. .. Dude! It's not foreign moon oo. It's the same sun that rises in the East of Nigeria. Matter of fact, Frankfurt/Paris is exactly same as Nigeria time. |
EgunMogaji:That facility is massive man! It's a city on it's own |
Sunrise, as we bid Frankfurt bye, and burn the clouds towards Paris... #Excited!
edehgeorgeC:Ok bro. Recommend an Android App that can do that seamlessly. |
Sorry guys, so many pictures but I can't upload because of this site limit thing... Meanwhile Frankfurt was mad fun... Hope I will be coming yearly from now on. So, we are heading to the airport soon to catch a 6.50am flight to Paris! I was thinking we will do a train trip to Rome so we can enjoy more views of the Alpine mountains but the duration is damn too long! More than 12hrs - No way I can be that patient. I'm sure Paris will be bad ass! Can't wait to take those iconic pictures at the world famous Eiffel tower! |
EgunMogaji:Oh Men! We didn't get to stay down for long at Schiphol but I already love that facility. Our tranfer lag was about 2.5hrs, and by the time we went through the long line of Passport control, and the long journey to our boarding gate (walking like from Stadium to Maryland in a winding, painstakingly beautified building), Of all the three- Schiphol, Charles De Gaulle, and Frankfurt International, it's the best for me. I don't know when it was built but it sure looks newer than the rest. I was also impressed by that intelligent conveyor belt that moves baggages in trays according to their content. |
Another fine monument on the same site overlooking the Rhine river valley
So, after that long cable ride, you will arrive at the top of the mountain where they have this gigantic 100meter monument - the statue of Willem I, the great German Emperor who led them in the 1870 war against France. After defeating France, the former independent German provinces were unified and thus, the birth of German Empire began. It shows that wars across Europe in the 16th to 18th centuries played significant roles in the formation of the various nations. In Africa all we do is fight civil wars that is highly destructive and creates division among us. This monument is called NIERDERWALDENKMAL, you can Google it for more info on the history behind it.

willy2000:Oh yeah... they are at work. I see. It feels creepy in this big city already, and you want me to enter a small Bayern village? Guy, you don't like me ooo... |
willy2000:Oh... for real? It was like 1.5hrs drive with the driver doing 150-170km/hr so I thought it's a different state. Anyway, I am still angry that for over 50years, our politicians still can't fix roads on our major hubs. |
992finland:That's the full continental breakfast. It's filling enough to take one through the day. Most of their restaurant menus are just not palatable to our taste buds, so we went to the shops and packed plenty of mixed nuts, biscuits, juice etc... |
DisturbingEU:Any way my Tour guide explained that Frankfurt Ostend, which is the East side where we stay is the upper class environment, so it's natural to have mostly whites. |
DisturbingEU:Hahahaaaaa... my brother! You live here or you are schooling? |
City views from the clouds, inside the cable car
Took a cable car ride from the valley to the top of the mountain and experienced the mesmerising panoramic view of the city. Also along the banks is expansive vineyards for grapes they use in winery
Our destination is the town, Rudesheim. Going to the one of the UNESCO's cultural site situated on the bank of the Rhine river
Nice country side...
We took a ride from Frankfurt to Hessen, just like Lagos to Ibadan distance. Just see how smooth the roads are, and you will cry for Nigeria afresh...
Chowing down my breakfast. We will explore the city further today before checking out tomorrow.
Breakfast at the hotel. That's the only meal they serve here. Meanwhile I observed the scarcity of black people in this city. Unlike Amsterdam, immediately we arrived Frankfurt Airport, there were practically no blacks. Even when we went to the main shopping street at Zeil, something like Idumota/Broadstreet, we could count blacks on our finger tips. Then, in this hotel, with over 50 guests that came down for breakfast, we were the ONLY blacks. We are already feeling like exotic species here. Lol

Men! Sometimes you don't know how Lagos madness and anyhowness messes up with your mind until you are in a different sane environment. So, this traffic light is in front of our hotel, and we wanted to cross over to head for the restaurant, in my 'spirit of Lagos', I dashed to cross in the middle of road and wifey gently pulled me back and pointed to the lights. Immediately, it occured to me that this is not Lagos ooo, better leave the madness behind ![]()

greeners222:I'm not sure I had more than a mil sitting in the account- but of course you'd provide a 3months statement so they'll see the history of the account. And Yes, both our Passports are Virgin. I went there with the attitude of I'm the one doing them a favour of spending my money there, and if they refuse, I move on. Afterall, I first tried UK and they refused. |
View from our top floor room, you can see the yellowing of the trees as autumn season is in bloom, preparing for the full winter expected from next month. It's crazy how these Europeans run things. Imagine this whole Hotel has no restaurant? We were referred to a Restaurant across the street to grab something. Got in there and everything is written in German. Fortunately the waiter speaks English, so I said, guy abeg come and explain these menus before I order nonsense. Lol At the end of the day, we settled for seafood/Spaghetti/steak, the only thing that sounded familiar. The bill? Nah guy, we can't continue like this- almost €50, I don't need to punch calculator to know that I must explore this neighbourhood later to find cheaper options. For now, na to go and sleep first, and attend.

Live in Frankfurt City center. Our Hotel, Hampton by Hilton. Meanwhile, when we got into Frankfurt airport, we didn't go through any more Passport control/Immigration, much to my surprise. We were welcomed to proceed into the city and enjoy our stay. The cold is bad ass right now though, currently at 6°C.
Boarding gate for our onward flight to Frankfurt. With a Shengen VISA, your first entry country must be the particular one that issued you VISA. But because KLM must touch base in Amsterdam first, the route becomes Lagos- Amsterdam- Frankfurt. Lay over time is just 2.5hrs. Some airlines layover time is almost 18-24hrs, that's madness.
Terminal building that is light years ahead of MMIA.
Schipol Terminal building |
Arrival at the Schipol Int'l, Amsterdam this morning. Here, we passed through the Passport control and got stamped in. From here we can now roam all through the Shengen cities without qualms...
Leaving Lagos night - away from all the madness that Ambode's Lagos currently represents. Surprisingly, the city looks well lit at night, seems Fashola's PHCN is doing better now or are these the 'I better pass my neighbour' generators he promised? Lol

. Anyway, hope you have fun and be warm.
