joborskill: I laugh at the ignorance displayed by many emotionally clouded Nigerians who are against the grazing bill proposed for the Fulani cattle rearers in all states of the Federation. Let's remember that like every other Nigerians, the Fulani's have the right to live and do their business in any part of the country. It is their constitutional right as Nigerians to own grazing fields in any choice location of the country so far it is paid for or provided by the government. We ought to applaud the move made by the federal govt because it will help in ending the unnecessary violence between the Farmers and the Herdsmen. By provision of grazing fields, the fulani's will be restricted to graze on an apportioned land provided by the federal govt. It will be a crime for them to graze their cattles on people's farms once the bill is passed into law. We should not castigate every fulani herdmen as killers because of the few bad ones among them. The incidence in Agatu and other parts of the country were perpetuated by cattle rustlers and not Fulani herdsmen. Cattle rustlers are armed terrorist who steal cattles from herdsmen and graze them around the country as a cover up for their terrorist acts. The ordinary Fulani herdsmen are peaceful people and will never harm innocent Nigerians. The fulani's do not move around with weapons but sticks to guide their cattle. I observed most critics of this Bill are from the eastern part of the country. The igbos need to realize that the federal govt owns all the land and territories in Nigeria and it can decide on how it chooses to use every inch of its territory. The fulani's have every right to graze in the SE and there is nothing any one can do about it. It is their right as a Nigerian just like the igbos are the most travelled tribe doing business in every part of the country. We cannot decide to restrict all igbo traders to the east because of the attitude of few bad eggs amongst them likewise the Fulani's. Most Nigerians criticized the federal govt when they decide to create ranches and import grasses from Brazil to graze these cattles so the herder wont roam about. Now the FG is shifting plans to create a grazing site for the herders in every state which is not a bad move by all standards. We are one Nigeria and we must learn to tolerate ourselves and live in peace. We must shun the politics of hatred and tribalism. Lord Luggard saw the potentials in our diversity before merging us up to form this great country. We must not allow ethnicity to cloud our sense of judgement when the federal govt proposes law that will favour every Nigerian. We must support the grazing bill so the Fulani's can do their business in peace. BTW i am a Yoruba man from the SW. proudly Nigerian You truly need your head examined. The government will provide people's farmland to cattle herders; a complete 100% commercial business of other people. Do they share their cattle meat freely with the communities? Have you ever seen where the govt collected peoples land to build shops freely for the Igbo/Yoruba traders across the nation? These cattles are owned by Billionaires, why can't they buy hectares of lands and do whatever they want to do with the cattles? |

SirJeffry: How few herdsmen conquer an entire community when there are youths there still baffles me?
Sneak in at night to kill people, I can understand, but displacing and taking over a community comprised of able young men is unthinkable.
Nigerian youth really need redefinition. Dude, stop acting surprised. One man with AK47 can hold down a thousand unarmed people. The problem is that if the police catch you with a common local pistol, you're in for it, but these so-called herdsmen lug aroung AK47s in the broad day light, and not a single one of them is stopped by the police to querry why they carry arms. Most times you'll hear police announcing they arrested villagers with arms, ever heard them announce they arrested a herdsman with arms? |

Pidggin: Where dem keep the girls na? Look at how well fed they are. Does someone expect me to believe that these chubby, neat girls live in a forest somewhere in captivity?
Compare them to pics of women and children rescued from BH, you will notice the difference.
Is it those BH skeletons we see in pictures from Sambisa that kept these girls as well fed as this?
Whoever is responsible for their upkeep, you can let those girls go now, you have succeeded You made an absolutely intelligent observation. All the truly rescued people from the various BH captive camps that we see as shown by the army look very unkempt and malnourished, while these girls look like maidens from the legendary Calabar fattening room. This is another evidence to the fact that Chibok kidnap was an orchestrated move by high ranking leaders in Borno state, these babes are in a location where they receive quality food and care. At least I'm happy that they are still alive, but the game should be up by now, let them be released to their parents so they can restart their lives again. |

Chiefpriest1: About this bill, I think people should learn to separate politics from what is rational.
I consider myself a Christian, so I cannot support anything that would hurt those who believe in the gospel of christ.
I 've gone through the bill and apart from a little fine-tuning that it needs, I really don't think it's a bad one.
Some quick questions:
1. How many of you enjoy churches or mosques that are almost making you go insane in your area? Sometimes, it's just 5 members inside a cubicle making your life unbearable.
2. Is the bill only for christians?
3. How much do you like islamic preachers or pastors that preach hate.
4. Shouldn't religion be a private endeavour? Why should a muslim loudspeaker wake me up by 5am or a Christian vigil keep me awake all night.
5. Do you know how many Nigerians with dreams of a brighter future have been sent to their early graves as a result of hate sermons.
Ps: I have my reservations about the licensing thing because it can be abused, though it's not even the government that's doing the licensing.
I believe that there has to be a way of curbing the excesses of these zealots, but dont hate that bill because you hate el-rufai.
By the way, the senator is a political arch-enemy of el-rufai, so must know where he's coming from. Let's not always follow the crowd That number 1, my brother eh... There's this one in the next compound to mine. Their service time looks like 24/7 monday to sunday. Even when you're on leave to rest, around 9am when normal people should be busy working, you'll start hearing all kinds of clapping and shouting. I believe that we should be empathetic with our preaching of the gospel and not make it uncomfortable for other people to have their peace. I really don't see why sounds in worship centers should be projected outdoors. All loudspeakers/horn speakers on top of mosques/churches should be relocated inside. |

I am just surprised that despite creating a thread, I only got views and no comments. My Abuja experience wasn't funny, only God used my uncle to help me. Sir, about the 'Big 4', I recently applied to KPMG and I got a test invite. Sadly, I couldnt make it down to Lagos from Sokoto here. I got the invite about three days to the exam date. Writing a formal letter to my LGI and traveling to lagos to catch an exam which starts by 9am proved too difficult within the time. Do they accept unsolicited applications? Thanks for taking time to attend to my case! I wish you God's best too sir! Dude! 3 days is too much of a notice time really. Back in the days when we were in the job hunting trenches, I had an interview once in a different city from my abode then, on A DAY's notice. I entered night bus and hit the town, then discovered in the morning while dressing up, that they stole my shoe from my luggage in the bus, so I dashed into the market, got a new shoe and still made it to the interview What I'm trying to say is that, you must be prepared like a soldier, to take on any opportunity as they arrive. Most of these opportunities come only once a year, many people will not even get an invite, you have both age and class of degree to your advantage, so don't take it for granted. Even when you eventually land the job, you'll still be having dead lines that must be met, WITHOUT excuses. |

joborskill: Why do most people comment with ignorance when addressing the issues of elections in the SS region of the country? I have seen comments like APC and Buhari want Rivers and Bayelsa desperately because of Oil . Can someone be this dumb? The last time i checked, Rivers and other oil producing states and their resources is controlled by the federal government headed by the Same Buhari and APC. The federal government sells all crude or whatever resources in any part of the country, recieves the payment into the federal purse before disbursing allocations to states monthly. Rivers and other states are not independent countries. They are under the federation of Nigeria which Buhari and APC controls. So how can Buhari be interested in Rivers oil when Rivers states itself depends on Buhari's federal allocation and 13% derivation for it's survival asides its IGR? The way some Niger deltans and South easteners comment on resources makes one wonder if Lagos the richest state in Nigeria is governed by the PDP.
Teenagers have indeed infiltrated this forum with their ignorant and myopic comments which is why every attempts to enlighten them ends up in abuses and insults. The reason why every ruling party struggle to get more states is to dominate and have favorable numbers in election periods. Politics is a game of Numbers. The higher the states in the ruling party's control, the easier their chances at electoral victories or re-election. This is why PDP bragged to rule Nigeria for the next 60 yrs and even labelled themselves the biggest party in Africa since they controlled most states in Nigeria at that time and even held onto power for 16 yrs. Buhari or Apc doesn't need any state for it's resources since they are in charge of all resources at federal level, They simply need to dominate the political climate in Nigeria which is a means of solidifying the ruling party's grip on power.

National elections are usually sponsored by Governors, the more a state receives from FAAC, the more armoury in her war chest to deploy for the buying of votes. From Peter Odili sponsoring OBJ in 2003, to Ibori sponsoring Yar'Adua, to Amaechi bankrolling Buhari, money bag states are very crucial to any government. |
