I need your honest advice, my junior colleague in the office is contemplating leaving his job to UAE to seek greener pasture. I have strongly advise him to work for more years to save enough fund and then look in the direction of Canada or other Europe countries. But he's just adamant. His net pay currently is over N152k but I'm suspecting he his being brainwashed heavily. He's a young man of just 27; just that he become a chartered accountant at an early age. I really don't know if he's making an assumption that he will get an accounting or finance role in UAE with his ICAN certificate. I pity for am, when he eye go clear, him go be like person wey one chance juju clear for him eyes. For those in UAE already, what do you guys think or have to say in this regards so that I can show him the response of those already there speaking with experience.

Oga, inasmuch as ur colleague might b making a mistake, ur post made u sound as if u are jealous or envious of him. Just counsel him neutrally against embarking on job hunting in Dubai.

Wow... I was able to read from page 1 to this point (no joke! most of my intended questions were answered along the line). My visa is out but just waiting to get a World Safety Organization HSE certification (hoping to use that to boost employment prospects. I studied electrical engineering, 1 year experience, but have teaching experience, 2years) I did last year. I hope to book ticket for Feb 14th (visa expires Feb 23rd, I hope that's safe?). With a lot that I have read on this platform (the discouraging and encouraging stories and comments but at this point, no going back right?!), I can say there's a lot to look out for in Dubai when I come job hunting. Can I begin to search for job tailoring my cv with the experiences that I have (I don't know how possible looking at not having address/phone number yet in the UAE) on the websites like naukrigolf, indeed etc)?

Page 160, the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers job post got me.
I know many applied but the email will bounce back.
Well I saw the post on 23rd December same day it will expire. To cut the gist short, the email address was a test too.
Jumeirah don't want too many people crowded for the job, Only the smart or lucky ones were able to get the email right after many tries.
The interview was yesterday 7th January. About 30 to 40 people were invited for the interview.
At the end only 6 people were selected and offer letter issued to them. They all signed.
Out of the 6 people, 5 are Male and 1 female. Out of the 5 Males 4 are Africans. Out of the 4 Africans 3 are Nigerians. Among the 3 Nigerians are 1 Yoruba, 1 Edo and 1 Igbo dude which is me.

I printed my resignation letter before I came back
And this morning I resigned with one month notice.

i would be travelling to UAE before January month end....All i read here were helpful to me from my initial stage of authentication of documents in abuja(MOE,MOFA and UAE EMBASSY) all through until my visa was out....thank you nairaland community,i would be ever grateful to those that contributed immensely to this group.

Waoh. . .Imo state with d highest number of applicants? this tells that peopl like n knw the value of education afterall. if only other state governors would declare free qualitative education, literacy level will double wht it is presently.
