Qualifing as group leaders was also in our hands in the past editions we missed.
That we messed it up before doesn't mean we'll surely mess it up always.

We already have a deficit of - 2 goals and 1 loss from 1 game, ie - 3 points. It's not kind of record that eventual group winners normally start off with.
In addition to this, our immediate past record with Afcon qualifications is nothing to write home about, having qualified once in the past 4 editions.
You get the picture now?
With 5 more games? Qualification as group leader is still very much in our hands

We wouldn't have qualified if it was only the group winners. We have every right to qualify since the top 2 qualified as a result of the nation's cup expansion.
I don't understand. Why wouldn't we qualify if it was only for group winners?

1) Firstly, I think it is time to move on without Echiejile.

2) For now, we resume in that position with Idowu and Aina. Idowu in particular was tested by the best of oppositions. I would not say he did excellently well but I would say he was not bad. Seychelles, Libya and SA cannot attack us the way Croatia, Iceland and Argentina did. I know Idowu and Aina have what it takes to hold their own and integrate more with the team.

3) In the modern game players' versatility is key. If you do not have natural left footed players that are up to the mark you have to convert other players with such abilities to play such position. You cannot compromise standards all in the name of looking for a natural left footed player.

4) Going forward, any outstanding left footed player(s) that is/are identified can gradually be introduced into the team. We should not be in a haste to throw out those we have in the position at present. Any incoming Natural Left back should prove to be better (in terms of delivery) than those make-shift Left Backs we have at the moment.

5) Yes the World Cup is over but I still re-iterate that team building is a gradual process. I see people throwing names and different names. Yes that is ok. It means we have so many availanble options but their introduction would be such that it does not terminate the progress of the team and or throw the team off balance.

The team can only get better.
Chief. You dey give me joy.

I swear.

It would have been a great injustice if they won the World Cup after such am easy route. Imagine Senegal had made it out of their group, they would probabky have gone as far as England did.

They had no actual threats on their part to the semis.
Only if they had finished first in their group. If they qualified as second, they play Belgium. If they eventually go through, they'll play Brazil and then France. Belgium, to me, had the most difficult route followed by France, Croatia and England.

From the article average age of complete fusion is 18.3years.

Some kids less than 17 have already attained complete fussion while some attain this complete fusion at 18/19.
The system is not perfect but with a standard deviation put at as low as 0.9 then the system of analysis is very reliable. Period.
It seems they didn't read the article.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Certitude(m): 4:02pm On Jul 10, 2018
TheGoodJoe:

“Maybe people are not concerned about unfairly excluding kids from competition,” Rauch says, “but that’s the inevitable problem.” FIFA had not responded to a request for comment by publication time.

One study on 86 young male Ghanaian players concluded, “There was no significant correlation between the chronological age and the degree of fusion.” Another analysis that similarly employed wrist scans among young players found that three supposed 14-year-old male soccer players had stage 5 or stage 6 fusion.

This is the point we are hammering on. The the MRI scan is very strict and most times, players who are younger than seventeen fail the test. Nigeria has been on the heavy end of this whip with a large percent of our teen players failing the test.

The article never pointed on a large or close to a little fraction of overage players passing the test.
This makes the MRI scan reliable in trusting a player is not overage. Unfortunately, players younger than the 17 fail the test like Maduabuchi Obinwa.

So when we say we trust the ages of our young players who passed the MRI wrist scan test, this article in no way disproves it.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/dear-fifa-there-is-no-scientific-test-to-prevent-age-fraud/
This article tends to show that more underage fails the test than an overage passing. It mentions that a 14-16 years old child could fail due to complete fusion or near complete. If there's anything from the article, it is that the MRI is unfair to females and some young kids.

People here told us how good a player is, and that he is next to guguru and epa but we all saw what happened.

They are here again telling us how a player would have changed the game if he was played, forgetting that they have argued he was in the team to occupy a position but when he was played in another position he gave out penalty in a tensed match.

They have also forgotten to tell us how many attacking moves Victor Moses made in that position against Argentina or is it the case of anywhere belle face analysis again?

Was it not obvious that the wing backs on that day were pegged back by Argentina's wingers or should I say our wing backs were more defensive in that role rather than been offensive, and that that was the tactics in play?

Which sane coach will tell you to expose your wing when two players are placed against each of your wing backs?

One is even comparing Ebuehi to Mbappe. Hahahahahahahahaha! A winger to a RB. Hahahahahahahahaha! grin

Saying Ebuehi would have caused the ageing Argentine defense problem when Victor Moses who is the best dribble in our team never dare tried it against Argentina. Hahahahahahahahaha! What an irony! grin

How can one even think of a makeshift player in a role he caused a penalty just previously in a very crucial match? grin Is that not gambling?

Unfortunately, they are blaming the same Rohr who dey praised to high heavens before the mundial began and had done everything to accuse, abuse and defame those who dared spoke against Rohr. Chaiiiiiiiiiiiii! grin

Anyway, I no longer take some peeps here seriously. I don't know if it's a a case of defective cognition functioning or..... lipsrsealed grin
Thanks sir. Ebuehi is a fine player but Idowu wasn't bad in that game.

Omo, did you watch Argentina vs France, and did you see the kind of trouble Kylian Mbappe caused the ageing Argentine defenders and DMs? Well, that's the kind of trouble Tyrone Ebuehi would have caused them as well. Take it from someone who knows, a few minor tweaks would have easily won us that game against Argentina:
- play Ebuehi RWB or LWB
- play VicMo LWB or RWB
- play Musa central

And see how they would've ran the Argies ragged. As regards to Tyrone having trouble defending Messi, Ehuehi is actually a better defender than people make him out to be. And in addition, he wasn't gonna defend Messi all by himself. After all, the primary responsibility for marking Messi in that game was on Etebo not Idowu.

Bottom line, Rohr goofed up big time because he doesn't know what his best team is.

O pari
I'm not doubting Ebuehi's defensive ability but I just don't think he would have really performed better than Idowu. It's not about being responsible for marking messi. Messi playing on the right would always go through his wing. Though I still believe Ebuehi is the better of the two.

No doubt that Ebuehi is faster than Idowu. There is a big chance that Ebuehi would have performed better. It might not be overwhelming but certainly a fraction better.

There is no way the slower option was the better choice.
That's if we are to view it from an attacking point. Ebuehi is a better player than Idowu but I'm particular to playing against Messi on that left side. I don't think he would have performed better.

Anybody who still believes Gernot Rohr has something to offer us is not mentally well.

There is NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING special that Rohr did at the WC which our indegenous coaches wouldn't have done.

Why on earth should a right thinking coach pick the hopelessly poor Idowu ahead of Ebuehi? I don't recall a single meaningful cross Idowu made throughout the entire tournament!. He can't take on players, can't defend, can't pass, can't control the ball, can't bomb forward, nothing!. It was clear right from the Poland friendly that Idowu was the weakest link in the team.

When Ebuehi changed the game against Iceland, I thought our coach will finally receive sense and start him against Argentina, But Rohr, the German
FOOL still started Idowu!. I nearly shed tears when I saw Idowu in the lineup before the match.

Rohr's excuse? "Well, he was born in St. Petersburg so he knows the ground best".

Such unbelievably stupid logic!.

So as the AFCON will be held in Cameroon we need to look for Cameroonian-Nigerians or at least Nigerians who play in Cameroon who " know the ground" too!.

I daresay Genort Rohr has absolutely no control over what tactics he plays. He simply does whatever the big players and media asks him to do.

After Croatia, the media clamoured for a 3-5-2 formation and Mourinho said Mikel is better as a deep lying playmaker than an AM. And Rohr did just that!. Played 3-5-2 with Mikel as libero!. Because Mourinho said so!

The earlier we send that white Salisu packing, the better for our football.

*crawls back to my cave*
Ebuehi wouldn't have performed any better than Idowu against Argentina on that LWB against Messi.

Name the nigeria starting 11 player that is a bench warmer for his club apart from Iheanacho? Leon balogun? Mostly injured and not a bench warmer so what are you saying? Sorry to say concerning the bench warmer issue, you made no point.

John stones is a bench warmer at man city and he is a starter for England,Oliver giroud is not a good choice for france striking role,he is also a bench warmer as far as i am concerned but he is playing for france.

Lucas Hernandez of france is not s starter for Athletico madrid,he his behind filepe luis in the pecking order but he his his a starter for france at LB.

Those super eagles bench warmers at the world cup who are your replacement?

Even Lindleof of sweden is a bench warmer but he played well at the world cup

I don't take that bench warming talk seriously. The World Cup highest scorer of all time was at one time of his career a benchwarmer.

reading through this thread i just feel most Nigerians are ingrates. we forget so easily and are very quick to over hype our abilities. i will not forget the general atmosphere of our football before Rohr took over. look at the teams still at the tournament check where their players play compare that with our players.
many persons here before the world cup had no problem with Ighalo making the squad so why the insult on Rohr for taking Ighalo? tactics did not take us out rather our players failed and many persons here were happy with the players selected for the world cup. please let's move on and learn to appreciate because with this attitude no coach would want to work with us.
Leave them o. We lost the Croatian game due to tactics though we gave out both goals. Our loss against Argentina has more to do with the players. That's is the moment you need individual brilliance which, unfortunately, Ighalo couldn't offer. If he had scored, we would have been criticising Rohr instead for the loss against France.

And Op I don't think the fraudster is bent on using stolen phones, they just have access to peoples online banking details prolly hacked and they are looking for a SCAPE GOAT to help them cash the money.

So let's say Mr A hacks Mr B's online banking account, he doesn't want to cash it out so he sends it to Mr C who is naive and just wanted to help . Then Mr C cashes the money and gives it to Mr A.

When the Mr B reports to his bank that his account has been tampered with, the bank officials traces where the money went to and they land on the account of Mr C and puts it on red flag.

Mr C has to explain to the police how the money got into his account. That's where the problem is.

He will be mistaken to be an Accomplice of crime.
