the last time I posted on this thread was on Saturday, so I don't know how you can say I went on exile since Tuesday. The same Saturday that I said I was still writing my Project, I understand you are suffering selective amnesia and have acute joblessness, that is why you think everyone should live and die on this thread. I have had moments of long absence here and it is not because of anything other than the fact that some people have lives outside NL.

I am still in school, writing my project and contrary to your beliefs, I am glad Ighalo has gotten his scoring boots for now. After all, just last week or so, I was telling AIG that it is not enough to say "drop Ighalo and Kelechi" especially when you have no replacements for them.


I am allowed to have a player I prefer and I am allowed to complain about a player when he is messing up and there is nobody I have not insulted at one time or the other on this thread, even the Kelechi. The difference between me and the Kelechi haters is that I won't wait for Ighalo to have bad game and rise from the ashes and I won't hide when people like you think they can dance on my head. See, I am no coward, which is more than I can say for those who hate on Kelechi.


Ighalo has hit his usual green patch, I hope he retains it and 5 goals is a great boost for his tally. At least everyone can calm down for now.

If I remember correctly you are the advocate of 'manage what we have'. I believe you have at least rudimentary experience in coaching and I am sure you know that 99% of coaches have a standard formation which they always fall back on especially when the national team is involved. Moreover you do know that virtually no successful national team plays with a false 9? The training you have to undergo to field a false 9 is impossible to achieve in a short while,I remember when we tried it in our medical games and the movement of our 'false 9' confused even the CBs and we had 4 weeks to train with a proper coach and the dude was talented.

So first off, who is currently the striker who can precisely fit into a 4-2-3-1 which is virtually what we play nevermind the 4-3-3 you see? Don't say we can switch to a 3-5-2 because you know that is just a backup and the coach draws his list with preference to players that can execute that 4-2-3-1 formation, so please point out another player that can function there. Musa isn't exactly the type of player that can function maximally without the ball, you can see that most of his goals from 2014 are all as a result of playing the ball to his feet in space, do you have space as a single striker against 2 rough African CBs? Please do not even mention Iheanacho. Back in those days we had coaches who were actually tacticians, you can see Keshi switching tactics to play Ameobi as a CF today and then Martins next week, right now all we have is a German stiff-neck who arranges his team in the same 4-2-3-1 formation everyday then goes to sleep on the sideline, even if Rohr was appointed in the 2000s he still would have phased out Uche and other small out and out strikers then who could not play without the ball.

Then who exactly can operate as our false 9? Again don't mention Iheanacho it has already failed before, ok maybe Musa, but he is not creative enough for that role at all, who else? Even if we crack that part, a false 9 formation only works well with CFs disgusied as wingers, when Messi was playing as a false 9 he had Henry and Villa at the wings, original CFs, so which of our CFs now can play the the Villa/Henry role well? Will our false 9s be effective enough to create chances for the CFs? There is a reason why Chelsea's false 9 approach with Hazard as the false 9 and Willian(another conventional winger) as one of the supposed CFs who should benefit from the pockets of space left by the false 9. So saying get rid of Ighalo without a proper replacement is going to trigger a chain of events that currently we cannot afford. So until we get rid of that imposter parading as a coach and hire an actual tactician who can use our players well enough just get used to Ighalo or Ighalo type strikers

Hope you had it in mind that the false 9 is different from a non striker playing 9. I felt chief meant the latter. Any of our forward would do better than Ighalo. As for hiring a tactician, you can apply.

Nacho only trumps Ighalo at finishing. Because he can slip a final pass doesn't mean his link up play is superb.
Ighalo at his best is mobile and quick and of course can drop deep. Let's not forget that Ighalo too like Nacho thrives in a 2 striker formation, only difference is he can play the lone striker role better.
Oh and when I talk of holdup play, your mind seems to jump to the likes of Giroud, etc.
Suarez and Aguero both improved their hold up play after few seasons at epl. They can hold up play, beat a defender when
necessary...something Nacho can't do at a consistent basis.
75 percent of Nacho's best games have been as a SS.

You think the other countries ahead of Nigeria on points do not have it in their hands to qualify too? Nigeria as it is are competing already from a deficit of 3 points and - 2goals.
We would have had our work really cut out for us if only 1 team qualified. It's not about making bold claims. This is football.

How is it Nigerian perspective that anyone can come out top in that group. My brother, there's still 15 points to play for. What's the difference between losing your first game and losing any other games. A team can lose two games and still come out top in a qualifiers match.

Sentiments aside, it is very difficult, almost impossible to top a group after loosing your first game to direct rival in a round robbing format.
Take for instance the last world cup. How many teams qualified top from their groups after loosing their first game?

How would you compare Qfs with world cup. A world cup group game has each teams playing three matches each. After losing your first, it becomes difficult for you to come out as top of your group. Here, you fate is in the hands of your opponents. In a QFs, you have six group gamed each and a chance to redeem yourself against whoever gave you your first defeat. Five games are still left and you are seeing us dropping if it were to be one team per group. This ain't about appealing to emotions; save that line until it gets to the time calculator is needed (lets still assume it's only one team going through). As for now, anyone can top that group.
