tshtsh: Please oohh I want to ask. Did akwa ibom state government order for these 10 A220-300 or they are signing a wet-lease agreement with another airline/leasing company ? Recall they currently have two A220-300s which they wet-leased from Air sinai. If its a similar arrangement I believe the people of akwa ibom state will ask questions The 220 will be dry lease from Europe. The current 220 are owned by Egypt air and the contract ends soon. Dry lease is cheaper |

tshtsh: Great!. How many CRJ's do they have in active service ? 25 sectors with an average load factor of 60 passengers will give us 1650 (crjs) + 1200 (a220) = 2850 paxs daily and 1,040,250 paxs annually. I believe they would have surpassed the 1 million record long before now but may have been hindered by covid and the under-utilization of their fleet.
Also this explains why they have a good on-time performance. With the many daytime airports we have in Nigeria if they increase the number of sectors on their 5 CRJs to 40 daily they'd struggle make up for delays cause by bad weather, slow facilitation of passengers, VIP movement and recovery from unexpected aircraft snag 5 RJs in service with average of 70 pax |

tshtsh: So guys i have a passion for aviation outside my normal routine. Ibom air operates a fleet of 5 crj-900s and 2 or 3 a220-300s. On flightradar24 the crj 900s are not trackable so i cant comment about their routes. However two of the A220s operates 6 sectors a day ( 6 flights daily from lagos to abuja and back : lagos to uyo and back ) with a capacity of 140 seats. Thus assuming 100 seats are occupied on each sector (on the average) it will be good to assume that they convey 1200 passengers daily on the A220s. The crj 900s have a capacity of 85-90 seats and they have been operating the crjs for at least 18 months. If anyone has details about the exact number of crj900s in operation and the number of sectors they operate daily please bring forward and together we can all see the estimates. This will give everyone a better idea of whether to believe the figures or not. I believe this is better than out rightly accepting or rejecting the statistic published.
On the other hand air peace is another force in nigerian aviation space to look out for. They are always on the news for the wrong reasons (delays, cancellations, refund issues, confrontation with passengers, among others). However, the volume of passengers they convey on a daily basis is next to none. If you look up their recent acquisitions (124 seater E195s ) on flight radar you'll find that those planes are always on the air operating 8 to 10 sectors daily. There Boeing 737s are also worked 8 - 10 sectors daily . Their 50 seater ERJ145s are not trackable on flightradar24 but those machines are in the air day and night. After operating into remote airports in the day time (kaduna, calabar, akure, warri, ibadan...) these planes are used at night to fly to west african destinations (freetown, banjul, dakar, douala). So it's looking like they are getting the chunk of the domestic air travel market. That's why i'm not surprised that they are able to get funding to buy those new planes The Rjs operates 25 sectors everyday |

It’s AirPeace that uses Boeing 737 Max. Airpeace doesn't use 737 max, they operate E2 sir |

Penguin2: Because it is not one idiot in of the unlucky states with APC governor abi?
The Boeing 737 Max that Ibom uses in flying passengers can fly over 100 passengers at once. Use that number to calculate when they started till now.
Accept that PDP is better than APC a million times. Ibom doesn't fly 737 max, they operate CRJ and A220 sir |

NkanAkpanika: will it be dry lease or wet lease ? Dry lease. They can't afford any wet contract again, it drains out airlines. The cost of capital in leasing is higher as compared to a debt asset loan |

NkanAkpanika: Ibom Airlines has said it would be expanding its coverage to six additional states in Nigeria. The Airline’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr George Oresi stated on Wednesday in Uyo during an interview that the airline would expand its routes to Yenogoa, Asaba, Owerri, Benin, Kano and Yola. Oresi who that with six destinations already the company’s target would be to expand to the new routes by next year. “Currently, we have six destinations: Uyo, Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Calabar. We will definitely be expanding into a few places – Yenogoa, Asaba, Owerri, maybe Benin.
“But the next place we are working at is the North – Kano potentially, Yola potentially. But by the end of next year, we would have covered all these places we are talking about. “We just started Port Harcourt in July, maybe before the end of the year, we will do one more.” He stated. Oresi said though the Airline planned to commence international flight soon, it would first consolidate on its gains and successes, saying by next quarter of 2022, the airline would venture into regional flight. The COO said the company would not rest on its oars in accomplishing its business model or take other airlines for granted, saying its philosophy about competition remained that there would be enough room for everybody to operate and thrive. He explained that despite its partnership with Dana Air, the company would do all to maintain its scheduling reliability, ontime performance and excellent services, adding that its long term goal is to be a world class airline.

abnot: I don’t know why promoters of ibom air are fund of lying to the public . As far as we all know airpeace is the only airline that has bought a new aircraft in the last 10 years . Ibom air leased five 7-10 year old crj900s but told the public they bought those planes . Now they’ve leased 2 A220s from air Sinai but also lying to the public that they’ve acquired an A220. Misinforming the public is uncalled for . At the end of the tenure the people will realise that ibom air doesn’t own any of those planes and will have to continue meeting its financial obligation to lessors . Ibom air will get their own A220 end of next year. |
