Foreign AffairsRe: Mandela's Involment, A Great Example For African Leaders by CH3COO(m): 5:43am On Jun 27, 2008
Kobojunkie:
Not saying it is his duty but if you are considered an icon by persons, you are sort of obligated to speak out on issues that pertain to those people. Mandela is sort of a hero to not just south africans; many Zimbabweans also consider him their hero. So, if he has only woken up to the fact that there is a huge problem and he may need to speak out, I say, it took him long enough.
He spoke.
It's been over 24 hours now, zilch.  Talk is cheap.  If I remember correctly the British Empire spoke too, right?

Physically stronger, yes; peculiar jobs, no(unless it's gigolo), Now, tell me one thing a man can do that a woman can't do?
RedHotChic:
Hissssssssssss, as if it counts,
Lol, you asked for only one thing and I provided one. If you want another one, only men can donate sperm unless there is one hell of a freak of a woman out there that I haven't heard about.

Not always. Nigeria is a good example of this, right? How many Masters and Phd-holders in public turn jaguda or become alaarus.

It takes the action of two to make the baby but it takes the decision of one to end it.

That's why you shouldn't be bitter when it is argued that men are, on average, physically stronger than women and consequently deserve peculiar jobs over women?

Speaking of pains . . . how many men undergo broken-di*k surgery from thrusting during intercourse.  Not that I have researched it, but I do know it would be painful. Hip replacement surgery from trying different positions . . . freak accidents during workouts to build up stamina for intercourse cause pains too don't you know. tongue  And all this while all most of you do is lay there and watch the feature presentation unravel before your eyes.

That's one of the things in life that falls under the category of "it's unfortunate". In the same vein, will a man be forced to partake in the pains associated with the pregnancy that resulted as a result of his rape?
Bwahaha; double standards do favor women afterall.  I hope you're not attempting to systematically disqualify and demolish the valid concern I have introduced here. In contrast, will the man be able to forgo the emotional trauma and psychological trauma inflicted upon him during the rape and perhaps for the rest of hsi life?

What can you say? The baby is withing the jurisdiction of their body besides, you seem to look at it from one side, what about when the guys want her to terminate the pregnancy but she really really wants to keep the baby, will you also blame the guys for their request?
I'm imploring a wholistic perspective here Funmi.  I happen to think both the man and the woman should have a fair chance to determine what happens with unborn fetuses.

In which case she can still keep the baby at his expense. I have been taught to avoid unintentional reproduction and I would like to keep control of this aspect of my life as well.

If a woman rapes a man don't you think the man has a right to determine what becomes of his sperm?

I definitely respect all of these women and their rights to their domineering opinion on the subject of abortion, funny enough I still think the premise of their posts are filled with flaws.
CareerRe: Female, Wants To Be An Engineer? by CH3COO(m): 7:43pm On Jun 26, 2008
Tayod, precisely.

I know gender has a lot of bearing in engineering admissions and work environment, even in the US.  I know most schools here are fervently harping about the lack of uniformity and women, more or less female minorities, in branches of engineering mostly because it is male-dominated. In that respect, I would propose that with decent grades, few ounces of smarts, and a burning desire to study engineering, our 17-year-old female here should have no problem getting into good engineering programs as there is a strong emphasis on recruiting females and minorities in engineering progras across the country.  Outside of academia, anything can happen and hopefully she lands a job with a rewarding company.  I have had a chance to survey some women in engineering who have been sexually discriminated and harassed, severely underpaid, grossly marginalized,  . . . at their various companies. There exists those shallow discriminatory professors at many schools who feel women don't even belong in the field of engineering.

How does his affiliation with the British Empire exonerate him from hooliganism?  Am I automatically better than anyone who's black because I'm from the white race?

Foreign AffairsRe: Mandela's Involment, A Great Example For African Leaders by CH3COO(m): 7:02am On Jun 26, 2008
And why are you surprised that Africans don't know whether or not Mugabe is right?  Africa is riddled with corrupted leaders.  You are asking hooligans to distinguish between a good hooligan and a bad hooligan.  Mugabe is no different; he is one of them.  He is hooligan who wants to run shit to the ground, and apparently Mandela is now the authoritative voice confirming what we all already know?
Foreign AffairsRe: Mandela's Involment, A Great Example For African Leaders by CH3COO(m): 6:56am On Jun 26, 2008
Mandela is the only person with integrity? So if Mandela or someone like Mandela doesn't speak now, nothing in the world can be achieved? Even if he had spoken a bit earlier, what actions do you think would have been taken.
Foreign AffairsRe: Mandela's Involment, A Great Example For African Leaders by CH3COO(m): 6:48am On Jun 26, 2008
Not really. Nothing is bound to happen "just because he spoke".

I can use 'because' in this sentence, just because 'because' is one of those words that can be used in a sentence.
His father shot him because he raped his mother because he was high because he smoked weed.

What does that mean? Is it his duty to condemn Mugabe? It's a choice he made to do so and he is a voice we can all appreciate.

Wesleyana you are a very curious young woman.  Keep up the yearning.

Revolution will lead to an everlasting door of mayhem if done unscrupulously. And if we hope to avoid the type of disaster in Kenya we better act logically.
