Sports › Blatter Wants World Cup Play-offs Scrapped by chaloner(op): 10:57pm On Nov 06, 2013
Following his comments a fortnight ago to overhaul the qualification process to favour Africa and Asia national sides, FIFA president Sepp Blatter has now proposed to scrap World Cup play-offs all together.
According to Blatter’s column in The FIFA Weekly inaugural issue last month, having fewer, but supposedly superior, European and south American nations qualifying for the 32-team group stages would allow more allegedly underrepresented African and Asian teams to play in the World Cup.
Twenty teams, plus host country Brazil, have qualified for the 2014 World Cup so far, whilst the remaining 11 places will be awarded this month through two-legged play-offs.
Blatter said: “It will be drama because you have to eliminate teams now in two matches. I think this is good for television, this is good for the spectacle of football, but I think we should try to find a solution where at the end of the qualification, you are in or out, and not this play-off.
“This play-off…it gives more intensive action, but for those teams [who are knocked out] it is a hard way to go.”

Science/Technology › Study Suggests Life Began With Clay, Echoing Bible Creation Story by chaloner(op): 10:51pm On Nov 06, 2013
A new study suggests clay may have been the birthplace of life on Earth.
Cornell University researchers found that clay may have served as the first breeding ground for the complex biochemicals that make life possible, a finding that may reverberate with anyone familiar with the Biblical creation story.
“We propose that in early geological history, clay hydrogel provided a confinement function for biomolecules and biochemical reactions,” said Dan Luo, professor of biological and environmental engineering and a member of the Kavli Institute at Cornell for Nanoscale Science, according to Science Daily.
The clay absorbs liquids like a sponge and acts as the perfect place for chemicals to react with one another to form proteins, DNA and eventually living cells.
According to the Old Testament, God made the first man Adam from earth or clay. Adam comes from the Hebrew wordadamah, which means earth. The Quaran, Greek mythology and other creation stories also say God molded man from clay.
Scientists found that the clay hydrogel could have protected the chemical processes until the membrane that surrounds living cells fully developed.
The study cites further evidence, nothing that geological history shows the first appearance of clay to be at the same time biomolecules began to form into cell-like structures.
How the biological machines evolved remains to be explained, Luo said. Luo and his fellow researchers are still trying to figure out why clay hydrogel is such a successful material in cell-free protein production.

Boko-haram Attacks Mobile-Police Base In Damaturu . (the page already made the front page ........so why , this guy seems incompetent............jus saying)

Gunmen suspected to be members of BokoHaram yesterday(Thursday Oct 24, 2013) attacked two wards in Nasarawa, Maisandari and the Police Mobile Force base along Gujba road in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.
Speaking to our state correspodent on phone, a resident, Musa Ali, said that the suspected members of Boko Haram, numbering over 50, stormed Nasarawa ward and shot sporadically.
He, however, told LEADERSHIP FRIDAY & confirmed that no life was lost in the attack.
Our reporter confirmed that the sound of gunfire, bomb blasts and the battle cry of the insurgents was still being heard at the Mobile Police Base by the time of going to press. The attackers were also said to have burnt down the MTN mast in the area.
The spokesman of the 3 Division Battalion, in Yobe, Captain Eli Lazarus, confirmed the attack but kept mum on whether there were casualties. He assured the community that troops had been sent to the affected areas.
Meanwhile, the 10pm-7am curfew in Potiskum has been reviewed by the state government to between 9pm and 7am, following a shooting on a congregation at a mosque on Wednesday where a man was killed and the Imam wounded.

Politics › Lagos Stands Still For APGA by chaloner(op): 9:35am On Oct 22, 2013
All the major markets in Lagos yesterday closed shop to receive the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign train led by Governor Peter Obi and Chief Victor Umeh, who introduced the APGA candidates – Dr. Willie Obiano and his running mate, Dr. Nkem Okeke to them.
Investigations revealed that though there was no prior agreement for markets to shut down, the passion with which the Igbo view APGA dictated that line of action to them.
Speaking at different markets visited- Electrical Market, Alaba; Electronics Market, Alaba; Trade fare Market, Mile Two, ASPAMDA and Ladipo Markets – the leaders of the markets were united in saying that APGA is the party all Igbo sons and daughters should vote for as representing a unique identity for the Igbo. They also agreed that it was necessary for the Igbo to have a central body they would call theirs and would unabashedly represent their interests and aspirations.
They also commended the good work Governor Obi was doing in Anambra State and said that continuity of APGA government was a responsibility of every true Igbo man.
They were also united in condemning the deportation of 76 Igbo from Lagos and commended the APGA government, led by Governor Peter Obi for challenging the deportation, which has guaranteed that no Nigeria would henceforth be deported from his own country. “If not for what Governor Peter Obi did when the deportation war was on, it would have been bad for you and I. Dr. Chris Ngige said those deported were mad men and if Obi did not shout, one day they will deport you and I and also call us mad men,” Mr. Chijioke Okenwa, the leader of Electronics Dealers Association of Nigeria, said. Though they commended Governor Raji Fashola for apologising, they expressed surprise that Dr. Chris Ngige was still justifying the dastardly act.
In his speeches at the various markets visited, the Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh said the campaign train was overwhelmed with joy at the massive reception accorded them. He urged the people of Anambra State to vote in Dr . Willie Obiano and Dr Nkem Okeke as true representatives of the people, chosen by the people and from among them. Umeh said APGA carefully chose the candidates based on their academic and experiential pedigree.
While speaking to traders at various markets, Governor Obi, who introduced himself as one of them, called for vigilance and said they should not allow outsiders to dictate to Igbo who would govern them. He wondered what the position of non-APGA government, would have been over an issue such as deportation.
“ You all saw the position of Dr. Chris Ngige, who, in order not to annoy his masters supported deportation and even went on air to defend it, insisting that those deported were mad men. Imagine, calling our brothers and sisters mad men because he does not want to go contrary to his APC masters,” Obi said.

Career › Re: Questions A Job Seeker Shouldn't Ask In An Interview. by chaloner(m): 5:21pm On Oct 18, 2013
rodeo0070: The best interview is one conducted as a two-way professional conversation. You are not only there to prove yourself to the company, but further, to determine if you can do your best work there, if your goals are aligned with those of the employer, and if your career objectives can be accomplished through the organization.
At the end of your interview, you should anticipate being asked, “Do you have any questions for me?” [b]Never decline.
By refusing to pose a question, you show the interviewer you have not done your homework and are uninterested in the company’s initiatives. Do not pass up the perfect opportunity to prove your inquiring mind and potential role within the company. However, be careful what you ask! We’ve come up with 20 questions to avoid asking.

Tell me more about what your company does?

It’s your job to do your homework before the interview. Research the position ahead of time and NEVER ask a question that can be answered by Google.
[b] If I’m hired, when can I start applying for other positions within the company?

If you haven’t even settled into a position with the company yet, how could you be looking to move already?
How quickly can I be promoted? How long before I get a raise?
Your salary conditions have yet to be discussed and you’re already looking for more power and more money. You may think this tells the employer that you’re eager but, in reality, it makes you look money-hungry and unwilling to prove your way to the top.
I heard (gossip gossip gossip). Is it true?
Don’t ask questions about rumors, such as “Is it true your CEO was fired because she was having an affair with her assistant?” That will tell the interviewer you’re more interested in gossip than you are about how your qualifications fit the job opening.

How often do we get paid?
This makes you sound desperate, not eager. Are you interested in the position or the paycheck? At least during the interview, show how interested and excited you are about the work you’ll be doing.
What happened to the person before me in this position?
Maybe they got hired, maybe they got promoted – but you don’t know. You’re not renting an apartment and trying to figure out why the previous homeowners left. During your job interview, it’s best to stay away from questions like that unless the information is offered freely.
Tell me more about your background?
Asking your interviewer about their background can be considered too personal for some. Avoid offending or making them uncomfortable by skipping this question.
How lenient are your workday hours?
Anything similar to “How late can I be?” or “How many hours a week am I expected to work?” is foul territory. You haven’t been hired yet – these things will be learned once you’ve gotten the job.
How many vacation days do I get?
Again, you’re not even an employee yet and you’re looking for a getaway on your company’s dime?
How long is lunch?
Not only is it odd that this is already on your mind, it’s extremely irrelevant to the job position.

Do you monitor Internet usage or work email?

A company isn’t interested in someone who’s worried about these sorts of things. You’ll come across as someone who spends hours on Facebook during the workday instead of a person who uses their time effectively.
What’s the starting salary?
This is a make-or-break question for many people, and it’s undoubtedly important. However, surely that information is already provided elsewhere or it’s negotiable — upon being offered the position, that is. As tempting as it is to ask, wait!
How many sick days do you allow?
This tells your employer that you either get sick often (which isn’t good for business or their health insurance coverage) or that you’re looking to see how much hookie you can play. Either way is a lose-lose.
What does your organization do?
You shouldn’t ask questions about the company that you could learn by just doing a little research, such as “What kind of products do you manufacture?” Before an interview, your job is to learn as much as possible about the company by perusing the company’s website and reading journal articles and news reports about the company.
Can I work from home if need be?
You’ve hardly been hired and you’re already looking to escape the office?
Will my work follow me home?
Obviously no one likes to leave the office, go home and do more work. But by posing this question, you’re implying that you are lazy and unwilling to go the extra mile to complete quality work – no matter how long it takes.
Am I expected to work weekends?
Again, this makes you sound lazy and unavailable. Employers want to know you’re an open book, excited and ready to dive in head first.
What kind of health package/benefits do you offer?
You’re not an employee yet. Although this is important information to know, if you move along in the interview process as a serious candidate for the position, benefits will be discussed with you. Wait until you’re offered the position before you start asking about benefits. See human resources for these kinds of inquiries, not the interviewer.
Will I have to take a drug test or do a background check?
The red flag has officially been raised. Suggesting there could be a problem with your criminal background or that you’re apprehensive about taking a drug test as a condition of employment will be detrimental to your interview.
Do I have to be at work everyday?
Anticipate that the answer is yes from the time you interview until your first week of work.

Conclusion
Since you’ll now be avoiding the above at all costs, try something safe like, “While researching your company, I learned that ________________. Can you tell me more about that?” Or show genuine interest in a recent project they’ve taken on that you would like to hear more about. Do your research, prepare and be yourself — you’ll nail it.

Good luck guys.

The mark of the Beast
President Obama Vs
;Revelation13:15 -18
The US
Senate has passed the Obama
Health Care' bill into law. The
implementation would commence
Soon. This bill would
require all
Americans to be implanted with a
Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) chip
in order to access medical
care.
The device will be implanted
on the
forehead or on the arm. This is to
fulfill the prophesy in the Book of
Revelation 13:15-18 concerning
the MARK OF THE BEAST!
Are you still doubting the
ENDTIME? GET READY! The rapture
is near! .Revelations 13 is being
played out right before us. Many
are still unaware.
(1) Why is the chip
being implanted exactly where
the Bible says it would be. Why on
the
hand and forehead. Why not
anywhere else?
(2) Why is it being connected
to your bank account? Remember
the Bible says you won't be able
to buy
or sell without the mark. And
guess what! The chip is
connected to your
financial details. What breaks my
heart the most is that many
people in the
church will not make it if Jesus
comes now? Many are unaware
that the
end is near.
Don't tell me that its
advancement in technology or
development. If any area of your
life is not in sync with God's word
Repent
and be converted. If you miss
heaven you can never miss
hell...think about
it. Hell is not a pretty place, the
worst part is that it is for
eternity...
