The Nigerian Nigerian economy of the 60's was agrarian and principally driven by exports of agric products likeCocoa, Rubber, Groundnut etc, that not only provided employment but also provided source of revenue for, thankfully, the good governments of those days, who were able to do wonders with such funds establishing universities like Ife, Nsukka, Zaria and Benin. The system of government then, at least until 1967, was decentralized with each regional economy on its own, with little spill to other regions, even though it's the same country.

In the military eras of late 60's to early 70's, the economy was more or less passive. In fact the CBN governors then hardly did much, very passive position it was. Even Adamu Ciroma -yes, that same NPLF man today- was fetched from being MD of a newspaper to become CBN governor. Chief Obafemi Awolowo was made Finance minister and I'm still struggling to know what qualified him for that job. Although his vision and wisdom was not in doubt, but being a lawyer, journalist and politician, not with Finance/Economics background, I don't know why him. So these appointments of the 70's tells a lot about how our economy was managed then.

The truth is bitter. Face reality for the good of Imo state. I hope Rochas can move into places like Orlu and Okigwe to improve on the infrastructure it will be good for Imo state, SE and Nigeria at large. Goodluck as you meditate on the way forward.

[/b]If you disagree quote me where I did so, It has always been in me to study out of my state to enable me learn new culture, people and environment. I am particularly grateful to the University, Imo people and the residents for peaceful co-habitation in all this years, I see IMO problem as my problem or that of my state and that is why I commented vehemently because I want change in Infrastructural development, culture and individuality, upon saying this I can never compromise, either misleading information or praising mediocrity. I must always stand out distinctively to correct devoid of bias, prejudice and self-inclination. However, I wish IMO good and progress because It's success is of Nigeria and Nigeria success is for the betterment of all concern. I've nothing against IMO STATE, I have nothing against any tribe, I wish all well, peace and progress. May God bless everyone, God bless IMO STATE and Nigeria.

@onye_ngbu. . . Why are you afraid of the truth? I said; the green and clean photo are very old, the fly-over photo is over 2years old yet the project is not fully completed. Can you point out where I lied? I can't lie because I've got nothing to benefit.

Good to see that even the native of the state are begining to see things the right way, they don't want fake and deceitful photos rather practical and real completed developmental project photos . Many of those photos are lies, fake, political and very deceitful. I'm not here to talk tough but to point out misleading  information. Some of the photo are real while some are political and campaign photo used by Ohakim and co to deceive innocent people. You may have done it innocently with a pure and sincere heart to project your state but we know the truth enough said! @BiafraFirstSon. I won't tell you my state to avoid tribalism, I don't involve in tribal abuses.

Let the truth be told,  These are both old and new pix's taken before and after ohakim  adminstation (using Google images can verify the dates of some of the pix's or were like the ones taken for the imo state investment summit 2010 guide book cos i was there)  Showing them now is simply means that you and some person's who post and support them do work for the government,  Just trying to gain recognition as being active. I am yet to see new pix's of what this new government has done. Pls try and focus on other ways of promoting the achievements yet to be done by this government.  Thank you

I have consistently implored chamber1 give up this campaign.  He has not showed us any meaningful investment in imo state that can absorb the army of the unemployed youths in the state, he has not showed us any rural roads reconstruction which am sure they are in a pitiable conditions. As a matter of fact Imo state does not start and end with Owerre, the same owerri is quite small that a drop of paint or block will be so noticeable that everybody can see it. In my candid opinion I think imo state govt should look beyond owerri if they can't expand the town further to befit state capital, they should look in areas like Orlu and Okigwe those areas has been left to decay as a no-man's land.

A good number of your people from your state are also enjoying prosperity of life and good education in my state too, many have not even been to their home town before because of good life offered to them, my state has offered your people with scholarship, security, education and many poverty alleviation programs. You thought I'll tell you my state of origin so that you'll quickly engage me in tribal talk. For your information, I'm not a tribalist and I'm not against progress too. My point is for people to know the reality on ground not just some fancy cheap billboard photo. It's very funny that you've labelled me with all manner of names and tag me evil, and enemy of progress just to prove your point and project yourself higher. We're talking about your fake advert and photo of Owerri so stick to it. If you don't like it I'll tell again that many of this your photo are political photos enough said!

Well i'm in my finals at the state university and have lived there for close to 4yrs now.I left the state 3month ago and traveled out of the country.I will be there early next year and hope those undergoing project are completed then,especially that of Amawaya and mechanic villa since we have alot of hostels there.Well good one bro.I love Owerri it's very lifely,though i am based in lagos.

I said; Remove the the fly-over photo, there is no such completed project here in Owerri. We don't need to see painted picture of how it will be, people want to see real things. Many of those very clean and green photos are political and deceitful, Hate me for saying the truth for all I don't care. People should stop acting out of emotions and sentiment here, say the truth and say it the way it is

Is this fly over completed now? This  picture looks like the huge bill board displayed around the construction site. I was in Owerri sometimes February while it was still under construction and i actually satyed in one new private hotel very close to the construction site.

hey fellow nairalanders, pls i have a similar complaint, i scored 260 in jamb and 272 in post ume, i chose mathematics/computer bt checkin the admission list, i find out dat my name isnt on it, i also checked the scores of those on the admission list and found out dat my score is higher than all enlisted for the course except some1 who got 294, pls im so confused, what do you all advice me to do,

owerri is a neat and decent city , not much industries there but you can tell they have a high percentage of middle class citizens, few very rich dudes loots of young women  and little or almost no poor people(except for almajiros that are slowly invading the city), if nigeria was a better place , one can easily be working or doing  buisness in ph,aba,onitsha and after work take a train back to cities like calabar,owerri ,enugu ,yenogoa.
