The CBN's funnctions are;

*****determining Interest rates, used to manage both inflation and the country's exchange rate – and ensuring that this rate takes effect via a variety of policy mechanisms
*****controlling the nation's entire money supply
******the Government's banker and the bankers' bank ("lender of last resort"
******managing the country's foreign exchange and gold reserves and the Government's stock register
******regulating and supervising the banking industry


Building fancy cinemas, malls, hotels and public toilets isn't exactly what a CBN governor should be planning, more ashamedly given the fact that the nation currently moans under soaring rates of unemployement and starvation!

The hotel being planned, even though will gulp billions, has no immediate impact on the economy overall, i wouldn't think a foreign investor would be looking to invest millions of dollars in Nigeria simply because their are fancy hotels there, the Net Present Value of this shytty project is most likely negative in the medium

There is one thing you must know about Igbo dominated markets,if you attack one of them ,they will gather up and beat the hell out of you if you are not Igbo.If you are igbo on the hand ,they will allow you and the store owner to fight it out without interfering.Hardcore tribalism exist in all Igbo dominated markets.In my own experience ,Alaba is the worst,Yaba is quite better.That is the Lagos i grew up in and the Lagos i left behind in 2002.I doubt if much has changed!

Nobody supports evil, but every situation has to be critically assessed before action is taken.My wife or whoever cannot just come to me that someone groped her and the first thing i would do was to reach for my gun.A married woman should always appear and behave like one, not attention seeking billy goats.

Unfortunately, most uneducated Nigerian men overseas tend to be aggressive with women. I am commenting from personal experience. The other day i was on my way home with my wife when we stopped at a spaza shop to pick up some supplies. I stayed in the car while my wife went into the store to buy some lays and coke. The next thing i knew ,she ran out of the shop and screamed." one of your brothers just groped my a'z'z". I responded immediately ,first i reached into my glove compartment then ran back to the front of the store with her where she pointed out the guy to me. I asked in a very enraged voice if he touched my wife's behind and he replied " haba which ones now, take am easy o ,na woman you dey follow like this" .From his heavy accent i could tell he was Nigerian and of Igbo origin. Before he could finish his obviously unapologetic sentence, I took out my 9mm from under my shirt and pistol whipped the scumbag in the face.

The store owners (who were Pakistanis by the way) rushed out to restrain me and pleaded with me not to hurt him any further. I contemplated calling the cops but I quickly realized that I had no case since I already hit him and blood was trickling out of the side of his head. I drove away and i felt no remorse whatsoever instead I felt good that i had taught him a lesson.

That won't be the first time someone of Igbo origin has assaulted my woman. I remember two other incidents. When i was younger growing up in Ikeja, i was walking my girlfriend home one day when we bumped into these older ibos boys who groped her in my presence and there was nothing i could do about it. I was just too scared to engage them as these boys were like 5 years older than me and they were 4 in number.

The second incident was when i was in LASU and i went to Alaba to buy a second hand Sound system for my hostel. My girlfriend of that time who happened to be Igbos also was in my company and these useless animals could not stop groping her a.z.z. I remained calm for a while but after the 4th guy touched her behind i just lost it and "rushed" the guy ,need less to say the other monkeys from the other stores rushed to his rescue and gave me the beating of my life. Luckily for me an assistant to the chairman of Alaba was close by and he came to my rescue.

They took me and the store owner i assaulted to the Alaba association's office where i explained to the chairman why i attacked the guy. The chairman also asked my GF what happened and she told him the same thing i did so he ordered that his men lock the store owner's shop up for a whole week. He was very apologetic and asked me not to hate Alaba market because of this incident. He said they were trying hard to ensure that members of their association treat customers with respect. He called us a taxi and sent us on our way.

I know many guys on this forum have experienced what i am talking especially in market areas. From Mandilas market  to Alaba to other markets where igbos are concentrated, they are known for pulling women’s arms ,tapping their a.z.z even when they are in the company of their husband or boyfriend. It is really a bad habit on their part.

They still do it here in SA and i am sure they are the ones doing it in asia.There is just no end to their madness,especially the uneducated ones.I am not a tribalist and i don't hate igbos but you can not deny the fact that uneducated Igbos are a menace even to their own people.

Sitting dejected, gazing at the casket bearing the remains of his beautiful wife lying-in-state at the Government House, Awka recently, Mr. Peter Ezennaedozie was every inch a devastated man. He was still in shock and confusion, as he could not comprehend why his four months old marriage should come to a tragic end just because his wife, Mrs. Agnes Ezennaedozie (nee Anyanwu) went to serve her fatherland in Bauchi State.

The late Agnes, who was a Business Administration and Management graduate of Ebonyi State Polytechnic, was slain in Bauchi State during the post-presidential election crisis in the North, as she was burnt with her six weeks old pregnancy in a police station.

Telling the tales of his misfortune, the Achina, Aguata Local Government Area born Ezennaedozie, told Saturday Sun, in agony, that he was even speaking with his wife, who was reporting to him her helpless situation, before her assailants descended on her.
Describing his pregnant wife’s death as a great loss, Ezennaedozie urged the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, do something about the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, noting that the northerners, having made it clear, with the killings, that they do not want southerners in their states, for the programme, it would only be fair for southerners to serve in the South, while northerners serve in the North henceforth.

He said: “It is callous killing innocent people because of politics. It is too bad for someone serving his country freely, armless to be killed by somebody, from nowhere. So I pray that the Federal Government should do something and stop this barbaric act.

“Again, I want the country to do something about this service of a thing. People from the north should serve in the North; then southerners should serve in the South because I see no reason somebody will freely go to the North to serve his nation and would be killed, for no just cause. After all, the northern corps members are in the South and nothing happens to them. We did election here; we did it in the North: there was nothing like riot here. It is only in the North, where they killed people.
Talking about his marriage, he said: “We just wedded in February. Now I lost her. She was pregnant, about six weeks pregnant. I lost everything. I lost her. I lost the baby.”

Narrating further his last discussion with the wife, on the fateful day, Peter said: “She called me on that day, telling me that there was trouble in the place; that they were rioting in the area. I then asked her, where she was. She said they had been taken to the police station. I asked her if the police station was safe. She said yes, adding that the police assured them that nothing would happen to them. I was reassured.

“But 10 minutes later, she called again and started telling me that the people are approaching the police station. I told her to leave the police station and run for her life. She said the attacker had already surrounded the police station and the police could not do anything to help them.

“They poured fuel on the police station building and put fire and when my wife was trying to run out, I was still communicating with her. So, at a time I lost contact with her, but I heard a scream, after that I did not hear anything again. I kept on calling the line but nobody picked it until after two hours; one man picked the call and I asked him if I could speak with the owner of the phone. He said the owner of the phone was seriously injured. I asked if I could speak with her, that she was my wife; the man now said there was no how I could speak with her, that she was unconscious, that they were trying to rush her to the hospital.

“So they rushed her to the hospital. After three hours, she spoke to me in pains and said that all her body was burnt. I even have some of her pictures in my phone. She received about 58 to 60 degree burnt.”

I think this will provide a long term solution to this menace.Most of us opposing this idea did not actually read the entire publication.

First, the target is not actually to stop begging entirely but to[b] remove them from the streets[/b]. The title of the article is a bit misleading. This is what it actually says in the body:

I agree with Fashola on this one. We need to reduce the menace of street begging. I remember driving from Lekki to VI in traffic and I saw someone with an inflammation of the scrotum sitting in the middle of the road and begging for alms! The inflamed scrotum was exposed and everybody including children were exposed to the terrible sight. DAMN!!! I was pissed off. In Lagos, you find cripples gliding along with cars on their "skate boards". They pose a lot of danger to themselves and to commuters.

The law has to be used to organize them or stamp them out of Lagos else, they will keep coming in their droves. Why should one state carry the weight of the nation's foolishness. An irresponsible sharia system churns out some of these amputees and they end up in Lagos. Let them go back to their home and let their system take care of them.  If it becomes a nightmare for them in Lagos, they will think twice before coming. If they decide to go to other states, let the other states deal with it. I hope they too will take a cue from Lagos.

If we want to be developed as a nation, we have to start controlling these things seriously. You cannot just sit in the middle of the road in New York and beg for alms. You cannot sit on a skate board in London and hang on to any car that goes by. Those who need help are catered for by a welfare system and are not on the streets. Alms collection points can be placed in strategic locations around the city to make it easy for those who want to give alms. Every shop can affiliate itself with some registered charity organization and help collect alms decently.

Even though you are making some good points, i think i will have to disagree with you in a few instances. Firstly, this people are unfortunate Nigerians,not Hausas etc.They are Nigerians and therefore deserve the right of abode in any part of the country they deem convenient.Secondly, what other alternative measures is the lagos state govt adopting to ensure that this people permanently leave begging without constituting nuisance in other states?Thirdly, is it their fault that they are beggars or the society turned most of them into begging?

The questions are endless and no single answer is sufficient.If the lagos state govt wants to build a society devoid of beggars, i think they know the best thing to do.Why not engage them in menial activities and evacuate the handicapped to destitute homes rather denying them of the right of abode.Ours is a developing country where a good number of people are poor, majority are jobless and even those working are not well paid.So, the issue of begging is as a result of the decay in the Nigerian system, there is no pride in begging.

what exactly do you people mean by distant relationship? For instance, i have been dating my woman for the past four years and left for my Postgrad last yr hoping to go back by February 2012.Is this long distance relationship in its right definition or are we not safe as people have said ? People here are saying long distant relationship don't work, can you please define in simple terms when a relationship is to be classified distant relationship.
