PoliticsRe: Should Water Be Privatised? by champredd(m): 9:01pm On Mar 31, 2008
Even if grass can be privatised in Nigeria, I surely will love it. Government properties were never well-managed or maintained, it is a culture well entrenched in Nigeria.

But I will prefer joint ventures between government and private sector in the area of providing water and electricity so that the government can keep an eye on prices.

I am strongly in support of the decentralisation of power.
Decentralisation or true federalism is the only form of governance that will help Nigeria.

That is religion in American politics, who said they did not know that the preacher has been making such comments for a long time. Even Revevrend Wright himself was said to have warned Obama to distance himself from him.

Most preachers are usually controversial, especially the outspoken ones.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Will Split Soon! by champredd(m): 9:43pm On Mar 19, 2008
Why should Nigeria Split? No valid reason as far as I can see, except for the fact that war-mongers always start by beating the drum of divisiveness.

Actually, I was thinking that Africans should hold a conference and outlaw any divisive and war-mongering activity across the continent. Because as far as we continue to allow some good-for-nothing fellows to hold us hostage and continue to fight unrealistically with no common good or commonwealth consideration there will be no development on the continent.

RomanceRe: Is It A Tradition For A Married Man To Have A Girlfriend? by champredd(m): 9:23pm On Mar 19, 2008
I will only say that it is not an African tradition for men to have many sexual partners, I just wish African women will stop blaming the men.

Reasons:

1) It's not restricted only to African men, if not well-known western leaders will not be having sexual partners outside marriage and also the divorce rate in the west due to infidelity will not be as high.

2) Some African women will go to any extent to attract the attention of a man that they know is already married.

African women must also seriously check their own behaviours.

Modern churches are quickly becoming more like the Jerusalem Temple of old. But to introduce condoms in church, will be totally crazy.

It will perpetuate the current sex craziness of world.

I don't have any problem with the ruling, whichever way it goes, but I don't like the timing of Yar'Adua's nomination of Justice Ogebe to the Supreme Court.

I don't care about the report above, but I dislilke the nomination of Justice Ogebe at this point in time.

NFA hired an under-performing coach, who was losing with the Scottish National team and expect miracles to happen when he started to coach Nigeria.

Anyway, the way I see it is that he intentionally lost the match so that he can get out quick with his bonus of $1.5m, and escape from the jaws of corrupt NFA officials who are always reported to be collecting bribes from foreign coaches.

I don't know why they have never been investigated. huh shocked
PoliticsSenate To Amend Laws Governing Icpc And Efcc by champredd(op): 7:31pm On Feb 06, 2008
Senate to give EFCC, ICPC more powers
Soji-Eze Fagbemi and Taiwo Adisa, Abuja - 06.02.2008

The Senate on Tuesday formally resolved to give more powers to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure that offenders “are effectively investigated and prosecuted.”

The upper chamber of the National Assembly took the decision after it received and considered the final and main report of its retreat held between October 28 and November 2 last year in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Approving the recommendations in the report, the senators specifically resolved to amend the ICPC Act to ensure that the commission, hitherto seen as a toothless bulldog, was able to punish offenders, while ensuring that no offender went unpunished.

However, following contributions on the floor of the Senate, the senators included the EFCC and laws on anti-graft and unanimously agreed to commence the process of amendment to all the acts.

Initially, the recommendation read: “There is the need to further amend the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission Act (ICPC) in order to ensure that offenders are effectively investigated and prosecuted.”

After due consideration, the senators also decided to amend the EFCC Act and all other laws against corruption to underscore the seriousness of the government to fight corruption.

The Senate also resolved to embark on “a progressive amendment of the 1999 Constitution beginning with the less contentious issues” as practised in India and the United States of America.

On the Niger Delta crisis, the upper chamber said the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) should be adequately funded to sustain and actualise the Niger Delta Master Plan.

Ordinary Nigerians should shine their eyes on this issue of amendment because these politicians could not be trusted. They could be trying to weaken EFCC and make it become like ICPC.

NFA is the main problem of the Nigerian Super Eagles, or how else could they have hired Mr. Vogts with no particularly good record from his past jobs as coaches, his best record was as a player.

NFA is corrupt and must be cleaned up.

PoliticsRe: Was Colonialism Good For Africa? by champredd(m): 3:15pm On Nov 29, 2007
Any bonafide African who says colonialism was good for Africa have to be examined for mental illness. This same topic was discussed on BBC WHYS a few days ago, I was surprised that some Africans due to their current position in life could ever support colonialism in any way, the only real legacy of the generation that fought it.

The main problem is that most Africans only think for today, they don't care about the even the nearest future, not to talk of the future of their children. Many of those saying colonialism was good in some aspect were actually among the generation that betray the African continent and put the future of the current generation in jeopardy by cooperating with the former colonial masters to continue the exploitation of our resources to the benefit of the former colonial masters and for the satisfaction of their personal material interest. Those who were not with them continue to sit and talk doing nothing or take up guns and become unrealistic rebels with no clearly defined goals and objectives, thereby increasing the suffering of the ordinary people (those who don't or pretend not to know what is going on).

Colonialism was not good and will never be good. Among all the countries who have been former colonies, it is only people from Sub-Saharan African countries that have ever talk about colonialism being good, we are like the Israelites in the wilderness, those who continue to talk about going back to Egypt must be careful otherwise they will never reach the promise land.

They must stop thinking backwards and start to think and work towards a brighter future and stop talking sh1t when they are abroad.

Those talking about Ethiopia must remember that they are more stable despite their wars with the Italians in a bid to maintain their independence, until the bloody coup led by Mengistu Haile Mariam in which the Emperor was overthrown and very likely by checking the surrounding circumstances the coup was sponsored by one of the world-powers.

So, to those who want to be slaves for their entire lives, I wish they will stop criticising everthing African.
