There was pandemonium yesterday in Owerri following a bloody clash between repented militants from the oil producing Ohaji /Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas of Imo state and operatives of Imo security watch.

According to reports, the ex militants who were on their way to the state capital to surrender their arms in obedience to the state Government amnesty programs for militants in the state, clashed with the operatives of Imo security watch, an internal security outfit in the state.

The militants and the security men reportedly engaged in a heated altercation which escalated, leading in a gun duel which claimed the life of one of the militants.

The militants later reinforced for a reprisal attack at the Hospital (Umuguma General Hospital) where the lifeless body of their member was evacuated to -unleashing mayhem in the process.

Unsatisfied with the damages they had already caused, the militants were said to had regrouped to the security operatives office located on Aba road in Owerri, where one of the security men was shot dead, another badly injured, four vehicles set on fire with another three vandalized in the process. The office which houses Imo Environmental Transformation Commission, ENTRACO, was equally attacked by the militants.

A gallant Nigerian, Celestine Nwabueke, has been praised after his heroic effort in helping a woman deliver a bouncing baby boy in a village in Borno state. According to multiple reports, the new mother -was aided the the gallant soldier with the help of other women who fled their community over fear of Boo Haram attacks..

According to reports, the woman wanted to name the child after the soldier to appreciate him but later changed her mind due to his religion and named him Abubakar.

Tragedy was recorded at Ajose street, Amukoko Apapa area of Lagos -after a primary school building collapsed -killing one person in the process. The building has since been sealed by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA.

A lady has narrated how she successfully postgraduate program despite encountering some challenges including almost being raped by two young guys. The lady who lost important school materials in the incident -revealed how she miraculously escaped her attackers and also completed her school work .

I didn’t feel like pursuing a postgraduate program because my dad died 2 months prior to the admission exams. 16 of us were admitted out of about 200 that wrote the exams and we began lectures. Then I started my dissertation. I spent five months writing, submitting, correcting and re-submitting Chapter One.

2 weeks to submission and defence, the unexpected happened. Due to fuel scarcity, getting transport out of campus was hard so I had to walk home. On my way, I saw 2 guys. My first thought was to dash past but then I figured they could easily push me into the lake nearby. As I turned to go back, another guy cornered me and before I could blink he ripped off my bag and said, “I just want to have sex with you, that’s all.

Nothing more. Just cooperate. Don’t worry, I have condoms. Just allow me. I will give you your bag back.” “Oh God”, I prayed. But this guy was not ready to let me go. He kept tugging at my trousers. We were in the sand, rolling and pulling. I struggled and tried appealing to his senses, at least so he could lose some grip and I could run. Noticing I wasn’t going to give in, he decided to strangle me.

He shouted, “Shebi, you are stubborn? I will kill you. You will die today.” As he strangled me, I just heard myself shout, “I will not die but live.” He lost his grip and I took off. I ran into a group of students who helped me. Unfortunately, my attacker had disappeared with my bag containing a friend’s laptop, the hardcopy of my dissertation and several valuables. Because I finished printing late, I did not back up my work.

I informed my department and was given 2 months to rewrite my dissertation and then defend. The near rape and death experience took a great toll on me. My mind became a battle field but a few friends and my family encouraged me. I started the dissertation all over and submitted. A new date was scheduled for the defence. My defence was successful and I even snapped selfies with my examiners. Ain't God too good?

Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari stopped his convoy to rescue rescue travelers after a very tragic motor accident. The governor ordered his aides and security personnel to immediately help the victims and rush them to the hospital. The number of causalities in the accident is yet to be revealed.

It would have been a tragic experience for some passersby and residents who were at Imo State University junction yesterday night -after a Dangote cement truck crashed in a horrible accident. According to reports, no life was lost in the crash.
