Popular American Televangelist Morris Cerullo and his wife Theresa recently visited Nigeria on the invitation of former president of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. They were welcomed warmly by pastor Oritsejafor, his wife Helen and other members of the church at the airport. Morris Cerullo also ministered at the Word of Life Bible church on Sunday in Warri, Delta state.

Here are graphic photos of some of the soldiers killed in military conflict in Bosso Local Government area in Niger State .The Nigerian military recorded fatalities outside its Northeast theater of operation on Saturday as armed bandits ambushed its troops in the North Central state of Niger killing 11 military personnel.

The slain military personnel were on “cordon and search” operation in the area when they were ambushed by the armed bandits.

Among those killed was an officer whose rank was not stated. Eight soldiers of the Nigerian Army and two airmen of the Nigerian Airforce were also killed. As at press time, a soldier was still missing.

After an impressive start to the ongoing Olympics game in Brazil, the Nigeria U-23 team, the Dream Team VI, battle Sweden at the Rio 2016 men's football event on Sunday. Samson Siasia’s side managed a 5-4 win over Japan despite arriving Manaus, venue of the match, hours before the game.Sweden on the other hand played a 2-2 draw with Colombia in their first match.

Nigeria's ambassador to Brazil Adamu Emozozo joined the team in Manaus and was in time to be part of the technical session. The players also embarked on a team walk earlier today ahead of the epic clash.

Recently, reports went viral of a secondary school girl who was allegedly flogged unclad by her father after she was caught having sex at her home in Uburu in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi state. Well, there seems to be a new twist to the story as fresh report reveals that her father is dead and she was allegedly dehumanized by some men including policemen and a politician in her area...

Earlier today, I met one on one with Uzoamaka Chukwu, the unfortunate 15 year old JSS 2 student from Uburu in Ohaozara LGA of my constituency who was recently made "popular" by unknown persons who brutalized and dehumanized her through torture and defilement of her humanity. I met her on the invitation of her family who seek inquest into her sickening ordeal and also justice for her.

I also insisted on hearing directly from her on the circumstances of her torture and public defilement. For if I must speak about it, I should do so on the strength of first hand information and a conviction that she is truly a victim.

Her story is heartrending and painful. And truly she is a victim of inhumanity and highhandedness of misplaced power/authority.

First, she is a 15 year old minor and wait for it...an ORPHAN! Her father died while she was only 4 in 2004 and her mother painfully followed suit two years later in 2006 when she was barely 6 years old. So she had no father to catch her in the immoral circumstance that was earlier reported. That story is on all scores a fabrication to deceive the public into antagonizing her to cover the tracks of her aggressors.

Two, her family is too poor to own that 'rich' apartment where she was tortured, molested and traumatized or the cars in the foreground of the premises. Indeed, she claims to know the owner of the house who she reports is the leader and master minder of her unfortunate ordeal. She remembers and positively identified more than four persons who participated in that show of inhumanity on her.

More disturbing of her revelations is the fact that TWO SERVING POLICEMEN were actively involved in this inhuman and illegal act of primitivity, along with a key political leader of her immediate environment. These two categories of public officers are those to whom one would have expected her to run if confronted with the circumstance as she suffered in their hands.

While condemning the grievous and indecent dehumanizationvthat was the torture and public unclading of Uzoamaka, one is more particularly alarmed by the mindless act of video recording the entire nauseating scene and posting online of such vile and murderous product by the same perpetrators.

Finally, I refuse to pronounce anyone guilty in this most inhuman criminality pending thorough investigation by security agencies, I however condemn it in the most strongest of terms.

I wish to assure the family who has approached me as their representative, and all well meaning persons, to assist them in ensuring that proper investigation is conducted into this matter to unravel the truth and to pursue justice for little Uzoamaka that I shall commit every energy available to me to ensure that this matter is not swept under any carpet and that no other child is made to suffer such indignity and inhumanity on any account. I invite all men and women of good will to support this cause. I am convinced that this is well within the mandate I bear and that I enjoy your support in this regard.

Finally, I appeal to the Inspector-General of Police as well as the Commissioner of Police Ebonyi State, Compol Peace Ibekwe Abdalla, to ensure that proper investigation is urgently conducted into this matter in order to bring all culprits to swift justice. I am going to remain vigilant on this matter and appeal to everyone else to do the same. This is about the humanity in us. It's not about Uzoamaka or whoever is involved in this debacle.

Following covert surveillance and intelligence reports on the activities of some gun runners and armed bandits in Kopa, Dagma and Gagaw villages of Bosso Local Government Area, Niger State, troops of 31 Artillery Brigade, 1 Division Nigerian Army, in conjunction with Nigeria Air Force detachment on Internal Security Operation MESA went on quick cordon and search in the affected areas to recover suspected weapon cache and arrest the suspected persons and the armed bandits.

Contrary to statements attributed to some questionable vested interests, the troops were on legitimate official duty aimed at safeguarding lives and property of citizen in the area.

While approaching and deploying to carry out their lawful duty, the troops came under simultaneous and sporadic shootings in all the three locations.

They however responded as necessary in line with the rules of engagement. Sadly, an officer and 8 soldiers of the Nigerian Army and 2 Airmen of the Nigeria Air Force lost their lives in the line of national duty. Additionally, one soldier is still missing while 2 of their colleagues were seriously wounded.

The suspected gun runners and armed bandits also burnt down 4 operational vehicles and vandalized 2 others. Bandits also carted away 4 AK-47 rifles and one Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle belonging to the deceased soldiers.

The troops also killed 8 of the armed bandits and arrested 57 others. They also recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition. The recovered items include; 3 AK-47 rifles,10 Local AK-47 Rifles, 9 Locally made Pistols, 6 Revolver guns, which fires 7.62mm (Special ammunition), 45 Loaded Dane guns, 10 Clubs and Cudgels, 41 Arrows, 18 Bow cases, 122 Cutlasses and Machetes as well as 20 Daggers.

Other items recovered include 31 Axes, 63 rounds of 7.62 (Special) Ammunition, 10 Bajaj Motorcycles, Assorted Charms and Amulets, 2 Vehicles, 38 mobile telephone handsets, a wristwatch, 5 Identity Cards, Passport Photographs, Cash sum of N23,870.00k, 5 Japanese Yen and 35 different denominations of old Nigerian currency, 15 Catapults, 8 Torchlights, 2 Gun Powder bottles, 4 empty cases of Ammunition and 41 Cartridges.

The troops also seized a military Waist Belt and a pair of military Combat Boots.

It is important to stress that the nefarious activities of the gun runners and the armed bandits has direct bearing with the influx of weapons and general insecurity in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory and the North West geo-political zone of the country.

The same gun runners have been confirmed to be the suppliers of arms to armed robbery gangs that were involved in series of armed robbery attacks along Minna-Bida road and the general environment.

Although the situation is under control, the military will not rest on its oars until all those involved are arrested and brought to justice. The military will continue to deal with any violent threat to our national security.

All law abiding citizens are enjoined to go about their lawful duties as the cordon and search operation continues in the general area and if necessary expand to other identified areas to keep our people safe.
