A 911 truck conveying used metallic parts crashed at Abudu junction along Benin-Asaba higway in Edo state -causing a heavy traffic gridlock in the process.. Motorist plying the express road were diverted by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) -who are on ground to remove the fallen truck.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has charged Muslims living in Abia State to continue to exhibit qualities of good-neighbourliness and to always consider themselves at home in Abia State.

Governor Ikpeazu, who gave this charge while observing the iftar breaking of Ramadan fast with the leadership of the Muslim Community in Abia State, at the Government House, Umuahia, assured them of the continued support of the Abia State Government.

The Governor recalled that he went to Maiduguri at the age of 16 and spent about 7 years at the University of Maiduguri for his Bachelors and Masters Degrees and disclosed that he was very conversant with the tenets of Islam and has a lot of respect for the Muslim faith.

He urged the Muslim faithful to continue to practice the good deeds they imbibed during the period of Ramadan and wished them a happy Eid-El-Fitr Sallah celebrations.

He used the opportunity of the meeting to call for support for President Mohammdu Buhari and the fight against corruption in the country. Stressing that Nigerians must come together as one to promote unity and oneness.

Earlier in his speech, the Leader of the Delegation, Alhaji Musa Iheakaram disclosed that the entirety of Muslims in Abia State were at Government House, Umuahia to express solidarity with the Abia State Governor and thank him for his love for Muslims in the State.

Also in the delegation were Chief Imams of Aba, Umuahia, Lokpanta and Ohafia as well as Sarkin Hausa Aba and Umuahia and Sarkin Fulanin Umuahia.

A total of 591 recruits have passed out over the weekend from the Ground Training Centre, Kaduna having successfully completed their initial 6-month military training. The new entrants into the Nigerian Air Force constitute the Basic Military Training Course 35/2016.

The Course started early January 2016 with 596 intakes but 5 of them were dropped for various reasons and were unable to complete the training. The training objective is to inculcate basic military skills in trainees and provide them with general military orientation required for them to function in the NAF.

The passing out recruits have all been assigned specialist trades and posted to NAF formations across the country pending the time they would be programmed for specialist training. The next batch of intakes, comprising 1250 recruits are expected to commence training on 25 July 2016 in line with the NAF recruitment projection for 2016.

Addressing the recruits during their passing out parade, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar urged the recruits to brace up for the challenges ahead in their call to duty. Air Mshl Abubakar informed the passing out recruits that military service is not just a means of livelihood, but a clarion call to serve the fatherland, and which sometimes may require making the supreme sacrifice.,

The CAS, speaking further as the Reviewing Officer, expressed the confidence in the ability of the recruits to live up to expectations as the training curriculum was recently reviewed in line with emerging security challenges to impact in them the right skills and training needed to deal with any threats to national security.

The CAS also used the opportunity of the passing out parade to show the newly installed Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) camera on the ATR-42 MPA to the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, who was a Special Guest at the occasion.

The NAF, of recent, has deployed the ATR-42 MPA to the northwest in support of Operation Sharan Daji to checkmate the activities of cattle rustlers, kidnappers and armed bandit.

According to reports, the owners of four random cars were abducted by unknown gunmen along Kaduna-Abuja road yesterday. Their vehicles were abandoned on the highway as the drivers were taken forcefully in broad day light. This was revealed by Abubakar Yusuf, who shared the pictures online for possible identification of the car owners.

It was a sad day on Saturday in Yankari National Park, Bauchi state after an adult female roan antelope was killed by this two men (from left Halilu Adamu and Bala Garba). According to reports, they are known notorious elephant poachers from Dogon-Ruwa. Bala Garba was arrested in May 2015 and was sent six months in jail and now he has been arrested again over the same crime.
