The minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige met with Senator Rafiu Ibrahim who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance & Other Financial Institutions and other senators in Abuja on Thursday to deliberate over banks' license withdrawal. The minister had threatened to withdraw the operating license of any bank and telecommunication company that failed to yield to stop mass sack of workers in their employ. He said; “We did that in the oil industry and we succeeded. Even if you are going to layoff, there is a way to declare redundancy, there is a process. Section 20 of the Labour Act says it. You must call the unions and discuss with them. You don’t just treat them as slaves in their own country and you want us to keep quiet.“We want them to maintain the status quo. As far as I am the minister of labour, I will protect the interest of workers; same to the telecommunication companies, they are also talking about compiling lists without discussing with anybody.” Source; http://www.nationalhelm.net/2016/06/mass-sack-chris-ngige-meets-with.html

Going into a battle constantly and facing death without knowing whether you may come back alive -is surely a scary and uncertain way to live. Little wonder why these soldiers were overjoyed after a successful clearance operation of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno state. The troops were excited after fierce onslaught on the deadly militant sect. Source; http://www.nationalhelm.net/2016/06/soldiers-rejoice-after-military-attack.html

In continuation of the concerted efforts of clearing cattle rustlers, armed bandits and kidnappers in the north western geo-political region, troops of 1 Division in conjunction with other security agencies have been making tremendous progress. It is inline with this that troops of 223 Battalion, 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army embarked on a patrol to Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. During the patrol, the team encountered and engaged notorious armed bandits that have been wrecking havoc on the communities. The troops killed 9 of them, while a few escaped with gun shot wounds. The team recovered 3 AK-47 rifles, 4 AK-47 rifle magazines, 5 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a machete and 24 motorcycles after a thorough combing of the general area. In a related development and in a sheer act of bravery, local vigilantes at 'Yargada village, Gusau Local Government Area apprehended another armed bandit. Buoyed by this success, the troops morale is very high and are determined to continue to enhance the general security of their respective areas of operation through patrols, raids and clearance operations. It is in the light of this that we solicit for more cooperation and support from the public. You are please requested to kindly disseminate the above information to the public through your medium. Thank you for your kind cooperation. Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman Acting Director Army Public Relations Source; http://www.nationalhelm.net/2016/06/9-armed-bandits-killed-by-soldiers.html
