Two young men would have been lynched today by angry residents at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) over alleged theft. According to reports, the guys came to snatch phones from students. They were stripped half-unclad and beaten mercilessly before being rescued by soldiers.

A man has got himself trending online for the wrong reason after letting his little daughter do the unthinkable while posing with him. According to an online report by Ogechi Henry, a young man who hails from Awo-omanma in Oru East LGA in Imo state was thoroughly beaten by the angry youths of Umuaku village in Ogbaku, Mbaitoli Local Government Area after he was caught stealing electric cables.

The community youths led by their leaders taught the electric cable thief the lesson of his life. Their communities have in recent times witnessed massive theft of the electric materials ranging from cables and all sorts of wires, thereby paralyzing the community not to have electricity.

A Nigerian lady has revealed how a thief who allegedly abducted her phone demanded a ransom of 10,000 naira in cash for the release of her mobile handset. According to the Facebook user by name Queen Rose Francis, she thought her phone was stolen until she discovered it was "kidnapped". In her words, 'my phone is not a president yet it was kidnapped'.

She posted as follows on her wall on 4th June 2017, at about 7:51pm: 'JUST LOST MY PHONE THIS EVENING...#sadmood'.

While sympathisers comforted her via comments on the said post, shockingly, the next day, 5th June, she made a post on her wall, claiming to have been contacted by someone, whom she described as a phone kidnapper, demanding the sum of #10,000, for release of the mobile set.

According to her post:

" I thought my phone was stolen, but now i know it was never stolen, it was actually kidnapped, in fact d kidnapper has finally called me today on d line I was using to call my own phone yesterday demanding a ransom of 10 thousand naira before my phone can be returned, this one na original #gobe o.

I don't know what this country is turning into, my phone is not a President yet it was kidnapped..."

A young thief got more than he bargained for after he was caught stealing a generator set in Sapele area of Delta state. According to reports, the young man was apprehended while stealing the third generator which he planned to sell N5000...

He was beaten by angry residents who made him parade around the area unclad with the stolen generator on his head.

Meanwhile, another generator thief was caught during an operation in Delta state on Sunday morning when most people had gone to church. He was beaten mercilessly, stripped unclad and tied by the people who nabbed him.

Tributes have been paid to former Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote after his sudden death at the age of 30. The Ivory Coast international suffered a heart attack during a training session with Chinese club Beijing Enterprise on Monday.

It has also emerged that the partner of the father of three is expecting a baby in the coming weeks.

Tiote left Newcastle in February after nearly seven years at St James' Park, during which time he made 156 appearances and scored one goal.

A friend of Cheick Tiote has revealed his final WhatsApp exchange with the former Newcastle midfielder who died on Monday. His friend Yusuf Abubakar shared his final conversation with Tiote on Twitter - exchanged just hours before news broke of the star's tragic death.

"The words of Tiote when we chatted today," he posted on the social media. "May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace Aljanah."

Tiote was plying his trade in the second tier in China for Beijing Enterprises. He had played 17 times for the club before his death.

Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho is pictured with his best friend/manager and friends ahead of his medical with West Ham United. Manchester City have reportedly accepted £24 million from West Ham United for the Nigerian forward .

According to Own Goal, Iheanacho is expected to undergo a medical tomorrow. The Nigerian will team up with West Ham on a permanent deal, with Manchester City having the option of buying him back after two years.

The 20 year old went down the pecking order at City following the arrival of Brazilian Gabriel Jesus.

His deal will be officially announced tomorrow.

A disabled young man who looked mentally unstable broke into the security that barricaded the Benue state governor; Samuel Ortom from the thousands of crowd at the venue of the flag off campaign for the Benue State LGs chairmanship and councillorship elections in Gboko. According to Pat Hyua, the young man cried out: "gomna wam, gomna wam"!!! (My Governor, my governor).

The governor, clearly filled with love and sympathy, ordered his security details to bring the young man to him as he embraced him before taking pictures with him.

Thereafter, the disabled man, was spotted dancing alone round the stadium after the gesture by the governor...
