alutacontinua: Wanted neuro too but it'll be too demanding. Unlike a lot of people on this thread, my life can't revolve around medicine, i need to enjoy this life, i cannot be cutting skull and scalp all the days of my life. At the same time, i cannot do something too simple, i like challenges, anything 'not too challenging' makes me feel useless...hence, the decision for 'cardio'...would do it for a few years and take to something else later. IF GOD WILLS!

I like challenging stuffs too, though i have interest in those four but still think cardio- is the best cos i love the human heart, want to write USMLE when i get to part 5 but don't know how true the "2015 deadline for intake of IMG residents" tin is? So am in a state of "lord have mercy" right now. About leaving medicine for something else, why would u want to do that? And if i may ask, what do you to leave for, after the supposed"few years?

The other time I had fever and had started swallowing anti-malarials (trust Nigerians to always go with anti-malarials to any continent in the world) before the doctor told me there are no anopheles mosquitoes around here (like i did not know before). It just felt like the malaria is part of being a Nigerian....


Thanks dearie, i have all the kaplan videos, na to start to dey watch dem remain...i watched a few for my class exams, though! >260/99...OMG, if I should score that, i don't even know what i'll do! That would be super-awesome.....specialty of intent, thinking of something along cardio...there's something about that organ called 'heart' that fascinates me. Anyhow, i'll update you guys when i'm about writing and trust me to come tell you the score, even if its 180. GOD FORBID!

Good morning medics, i was down with typhoid and malaria but thanks to God that am now ok. Missed u all. I refused to announce the winners because of poor turn-out of voters. @lomaxx, i want to be like you when i grow up! About your friend that had 256/99,"that is too wonderful a score for an IMG from a third world country" that goes a long way to telling whom you are, as aluta has rightly said 'pares cum paribus facilimi en congregateur". @aluta, you will be ok dear. I learnt alot about USMLME in my pre-admission days, and all i can say is that, those 'Board review series' is the bomb, start the "jacking" first and then relax with videos. I recommend kaplan videos cos those guys are wonderful, also endeavour to make the Q-bank on www.usmleworld.com ur best friend and finally pray hard. Although, i don't know your specialty of intent, but paying a visit to this site will go a long way to helping you get a match. www.matcharesident.com

Am an International medical student and my keen interest is to specialize in radiology upon licensure by MDCN. What is radiology residency like in Nigeria. Is radiology the most competitive residency?

Don't worry bro, cos that article by Dr Gboy is about what is obtainable in the US med schools not nigeria. About your question i haven't heard of radiology residency here in Nigeria, even if it do exist i don't think it's competitive cos of the pay here is not thesame as that in the states. @Dr Gboy, u have said it all, kudos for that wonderful piece. Congrats @ the newly admitted medicos.
