Good evening everyone.

Please is it possible to defer admission and resume in the next term after getting visa for a particular term.

For instance, is possible to get Visa in spring and defer to fall without entering the USA?

Hi Guys,
This is my first time of applying for the us embassy interview. As the date im seeing on my dashboard is August 2022. So I decided to pick a date in August 2022 and I later apply for emergency request yesterday and I also apply for the surge dates in Lagos also. This morning I got a response on my dashboard that my emergency appointment in Lagos has been denied. I decided to check my dashboard and I realized that the date I chose as August 2022 has been canceled. And I was trying to check available dates. And I put in my visa fee receipt number and the response I got was it has been used. I'm so confused. Has anyone experienced this and am I required to pay another visa fee. Kindly help on this. I'm so confused

Calm down.
What this means is that they've approved your Surge application.
They will send you email shortly.
Cheers

Lol. Cannot happen, people will always need medical care. Health workers will always be in demand worldwide.

It is already unattractive, that is why we invest plenty money to write their exams and practice there. Don't be a bad belle.
Writing exams to practice is not a measure of standard. It is simply a regulation. People write exams to practice in Nigeria too, no matter where you're coming from. Don't you know?

Nigerian government can stop this braindrain by making our medical degree unattractive to the west. They can incorporate some aspect of traditional medicine into our medical school curriculum, that way the west won't value it.

Nigeria is the best place to study medicine right now. You get free education, travel abroad and get paid the same wages with people that spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for their medical education. This is just so sweet.

In all you do,do not apply unijos. My guy with 310 was sent to geology while someothers were admitted with lower scores.
Unilorin competition is fierce and she might be sent to other departments.
You're right.
Unijos will not look at that score twice.
Seriously, I don't understand what is happening in Unijos currently. Since the coming of this VC, things has really changed, coupled with the fact that post utme was scraped. During my time, once you have a decent score in post utme, you're very sure of admission... People with 72% even got merit. But now, everything is chaotic. You need to have an extremely good results, before you will get in, unless you're an indigene or catchment area. Stay away from Unijos if your score is less than 320, if not... You will cry.

Why not try UNN since you want dentistry? With 286, you'll be offered dentistry there. However, travel down to the faculty at UNTH, Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu and ask them. I'm sure you'll certainly smash the postutme and score up to 290 or 300 in it. You have a big chance there.
Please don't go to UNN for anything, please.
The medical school there is a complete joke.
They over admit students across all departments.
I was there last week, during their lecture hours, you will not believe that more than half of the students were outside while lectures were going on. Medical students at that.
When I made enquiry, I was told they admitted more than 400 students for a quota of 150, imagine! Don't go there, you won't learn anything.

Education / University Of Ibadan And UNN Warned Against Admission Irregularities by charleymed(m): 10:56am On Jan 01, 2020
The Joint admissions and matriculation board has come hard on universities admitting candidates that performed below the admission cut-off marks on their portal, bypassing the central admission processing system of JAMB.

The JAMB registrar warned such institutions to desist from acts as the should only admit qualified candidates, and all admissions must pass through the JAMB CAPS. The registrar also warned candidates to desist from accepting such fraudulent admissions, as such admissions will not be recognized by the board.

Two prominent universities that have been indicted for "warehousing" admission on their portals are, The University of Nigeria Nsukka that admitted almost 500 candidates for MBBS, and university of Ibadan that has been admitting candidates that scored far below the cut off marks.

The statement of the registrar :

JAMB WARNS VARSITIES AGAINST IRREGULAR ADMISSIONS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said it had cautioned some universities offering admissions to candidates on their school portals, without following the guidelines on the Central Admission Processing System.

The board stated this in a presentation by its Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, in Abuja, obtained by our correspondent. It listed the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; the University of Ibadan; and the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun State as examples.

The board warned the universities to “desist from such illegitimate actions.”

JAMB said it would not regularise the admission of such candidates not admitted through CAPS.

The registrar said, “On the warehousing of candidates into school portal, JAMB has found out that some institutions have devised a method of offering admissions to candidates outside CAPS, on their own designated portals. The device is a ploy to lure innocent and more qualified candidates away from their preferred programmes.

“These are tricks meant to usurp the rights of the candidates and they are improper and should be disregarded by the candidates. Such institutions are putting into jeopardy the future of these candidates.

“We have the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, which has a quota of 200 for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. After admitting 106 candidates on CAPS, it released 448 on the UNN portal, whereas there are 342 qualified and not admitted on the CAPS.”

It added, “Also for Law, it has a quota of 250 and admitted 125 candidates on CAPS, whereas it released another 240 names on the school portal.

“We also have the case of one Hannat at the University of Ibadan, who applied for Human Nutrition but was transferred to Agricultural Extension. Her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination score was 242 and the post UTME was 72. She had an aggregate score of 66.25, but the university then admitted people below her.

"We like to inform candidates that anyone who accepts any offer of admission made outside CAPS, that is, not on the JAMB’s candidates’ profile, does so at their own risk. There shall be no regularisation of any irregular admission. JAMB has given caution to the universities to immediately withdraw and desist from such illegitimate actions.”

What do you mean by retraining?
Explain it to everyone. Which country are you talking about?
Stop saying rubbish. If your friend is not up to date and decides to go for extra lessons, that's not retraining, because it's at his own discretion and not bounding on everyone. That's what I'm trying to explain to you. There's no country in this world that retrain doctors, please. Get your facts straight or better still, mention the country and the type of retraining he is undergoing.

AjalaDtraveller:
I have one experienced medical doctor friend here. He works in the warehouse. He is passing through difficult exams and certifications and he said he needs to pass them to be retrained, although it's shorter term than for a fresher. But it's really been tough for him. This is someone who was qualified to work before. Yes you may relocate but you have to pass through this hurdles to finally get the licence to be able to practice in first world countries. Its not as easy as people think.
License examination is required by all countries of the world. You can't practice in any country without due licensure and evaluation. A doctor migrating from the US to practice in Nigeria is required to write the Nigeria licensing exams. So, stop making a big deal out of his situation. The mistake he made was migrating before getting his license, he was not duly informed.
And please, there is no such thing as retraining of doctors. No doctor is retrained, anywhere in the world. Your speed is dependent on how smart you are, really smart doctors clear the licensing exams in 5 months, some even in a lesser time. It all depends on your drive, your friend could be having a problem with the exams, because it has been long he graduated and his knowledge isn't up to date. That is why it's better to leave when you're young, and not only when things are going bad for you.

Hardebaryor:
Good evening people.

I wan to ask the following questions;

1. If one does not meet the proposed merit cut off mark for one's applied course (mine is MBBS in particular), is it only those who are maximum of 1 point short of the cut off mark that may later considered?

2. This act of consideration of some candidates who are very close to the cut off mark is it every year they do it?

3. In case of doubt, one may want to change to another course to be on a safer side, willthis act of changing one's course hinder one from being considered for the original course he applied for? I mean if they want to consider a candidate for his original course because he is close to the cut off mark but he has changed his course to another one, will that stop them from giving him his first applied course.

4. In the year 2017, the cut off mark was 71.88, does anybody know of candidates that later got MBBS though they are close to the cut off mark but a little more than a point. As in do you know anybody in MBBS department with a score like 70.5. Likewise 2018, when the cut off mark was 76.5, are there candidates that got in with 75 (ie they are 1.5 marks below the cut off)?

I ask the above questions because I am 1.125 below the leaked cut off mark for MBBS today. I had 77 and the leaked cut off mark is 78.125

Pls help a brother
