hi boss, ur result is perfectly okay 4 d above mentioned schools, "unless u are applying Ibadan". U can also be admitted , even when u have c6 parallel so no cause for alarm, all u need to do is to clear both ur jamb and post jamb with good scores, then you are good to go. But i think it is better u make OAU ur first choice, cos am not sure they accept second choice. So more grease to ur elbow bro, hope to see you in med school soonest.

adeaugustus: Am not a Medicine Student, but am studying Medical Science (Human Anatomy). I love the course am studying right now, dissection at it's peak, (Lower Limbs) learning(Sembuligam) Cramming (Keith Moore) Drawings(Histology) Pathways (Biochemistry) Studying (Embryology).....The pressure on it's own is good to keep us going, waking up everyday with the desire to get back into your laboratory coat, walking into the Gross Anatomy Laboratory, as the Formaline odour at it's peak ushers you in, they you begin to deal with cadavers...."Scapel, Please" Scrapping off fats... Gluteal Region is full of fat!!! Just pray you don't get a fat, old cadaver, because they're not fun to dissect!!! Lot's of cold fat....Do you visualise fun in my rants? Seriously it's fun.

Don't let people fool you about Job Prospects in Basic Medical Sciences in Nigeria, The problem with our scholars is that, they want to start earning money with their first degree (B.sc, B.tech), If that is your foresight, BMS is not for you, but if you desire to leave your footprints on the sand of medicine, the BMS is the right way to go. Before you can get a good job with Basic Medical Sciences Degree, you must have at least a Master Degree, better still a PhD. Do you know that most PhD degree in BMS is fully funded in Developed country and you'll still earn stipends for studying?? BMS is all about discovering something that would help generations to come.

While I really Appreciate the effort of our Doctors, Nurses, and other Medical Officers, because they are in the fore front of presenting medical care to patients, their effort is limited to so categories of people, but a medical discovery can save more life, even more than what a doctor will do in his life time (But, Doctors roles with patients is inevitable, they work hard to see things are done the way it should be done).

But come to think of it, 300 year one medics is outrageously high, i just pray that u will be able to cross to COMED,cos ur passion for medicine is not indoubt. But u have to be ware of those diploma students, and also remember that it is nt all about jacking, but the God's factor goes a long way. Don't leave ur tees uncross and ur i's undotted, i beleive God we surely see u through.

Thnks in advance.[/quote]No i don't stay in the USA, am a med stud at unijos med schl,but i want to do my residency(post graduate training) in the states, so that is why am much interested in USMLE(united state medical licensing examination). There are many sites where u can get info about usmle, including the pratice aids,as pastQ's etc.. But i will recomend (www.usmleworld.com) for u, cos it have been of great help to me. Finally, PRO is simply the opposite of ANTI-, so when someone says that he is pro-neuro, it simply means that he likes and would like to specialize in field of either, Neurology or neuro-surgery. Ok Doc, i guess i have been able to answer ur questions, sir.

HOW DO I KNOW? Bro, as the saying goes'Effective people are goal oriented" so with an acheivement as urs, it won't be difficult hasty say that ur a pro-neuro. I am currently in of preclinics, that is 1st year in med sch. I have been following some USMLE online fora, ryt 4rm my pre-admission years, and i can say that i have learnt alot. As it is nw, i have started preparing 4 the step 1, wc i will be writing at the terminus of my 4th year in med sch, i have been using my system to receive some online usmle lectures(but not free sha) and as well attempting some question on gross anatomy. So doc, my doors are open to u anytime,feel free to ask any question about usmle.

hardmanvicky: hw many hours can a med student read in 24 hours

It is adviceable for a med student to read at most 112 hours a week, that is 16 hours per day, the remaining 8 hours should goes 4 leisure, rest, sleep and other miscellaneous. But it depends on what ur goals are, like, i have seen many medics(especially pro-surgeon) read for 22 hours everyday. But always remember that a good rest and sleep helps to boast ur memory, so don't just get urself exhausted by reading alone. Eat well, sleep 4 at six hours, and exercise well too.
