This applies to PR holder who can fly in to Australia at short notice. Most employers give at least 1 week notice before interview. And besides, you can come out plain that where you are it won't be possible to make it to Australia hence you can request for either phone-in interview or skype interview. Even in Australia, you might be in a state and they call you for job in another state; you have the right to tell them whether you can make it or not and they will understand. I got a job with an Oil and gas company in another state and guess what, the interview that I was supposed to attend physically was done over the phone.
ok thanks very much for the detailed explaination

No, I didn't know anything of such by then. But of course, I got my skills assessed as I was planning to apply for PR.
hi,you mentioned indicating Australia permanent residency on the CV and routing our Nigeria number to an Australia number on skype, what if the person receives a call from an Australian Employer while he is in Nigeria, with the employer thinking he is in Australia and tells the applicant to report to the office the next day for interview.what is the way out

My occupation is Telecommunication Engineer and I had about 6years work experience then in Nigeria. I was sponsored on a Skilled Temporary visa-457 after the job offer about 3years and 11months ago by an Australian Employer. Initially, everything looked like a joke but then it was REAL. It was when I got here that I applied for Skilled Independent PR and now few weeks more to be eligible for citizenship.
ok thanks, that is a good news happy for you.was your skill assessed by your assessing body before you applied for the job
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by chase123: 12:46am On Jul 27, 2015
NNBB2012:

Yes, it was full time and the employment letter sent via e-mail. Visa was processed for me,ticket purchased and hotel accommodation reserved for me for 1 week.
This how you can set-up a skype account:

1Sign in to your account.
2 In the Manage features section, select Skype Number.
3 Click Get a Skype Number and follow the instructions to complete the purchase

thanks. Am a bit confused. Did you get employer nomination visa, that is,did you obtain a job offer from an employer in Australia while in Nigeria that enabled your visa to be processed, or you obtained a permanent residency visa before you got the job in Australia, please clarify this. What occupation were you assessed for, and how many years of experience was indicated on your CV. Sorry for so many questions. I just want to clear my confusion, expecting your reply

NNBB2012:

It is very simple. All you need to do is to update your CV and add Australian PR on it. Do not put address. Get a skype account with Australia number and route it to your mobile in case an employer calls you. The job that brought me to Austalia I got it while in Nigeria with my Nigerian's address and mobile number.
hi NNBB2012, I do not know how to thank you for this wonderful insight you revealed, thank you so much. tell us how we can route our nigeria mobile number to Australia number on skype. Again the Australia job you got while in Nigeria was it a full time job or part time job, was employment letter sent to your email or by courier after you got the job. thanks very much again for the wonderful insight, expecting to hear from you.

NNBB2012 I need to understand something from ur response. U said he shud start applying from Nigeria, how will they fairly consider him since the address on his CV will still be Nigerian with no ties to Australia n no way of showing ur now a PR holder how will he be considered for a job from here? I know people get jobs from here but I have no clue as to how they do it
hi chuckdee, how do you do. Since you know people who got Australia jobs from Nigeria, ask them how they did it and please let me know

Thanks! everyone for those helpful suggestions. I am working on them aleady.

Because my visa is 'Label free' (I suppose that is what is usually given to most PR visa holder, please correct me, if I am wrong). i'm hoping transiting through some countries wouldn't be challenging. Do immigration officers and airline officials usually reckon with the visa label free visa?

In a nutshell, can anyone share their travel experience with their 'label-free' Visa to Australia.

1. are there things to watch out for?

2. any airline of recommendations?

3. Are transit Visas needed, if so, which countries in particular?

any suggestion in this direction will be much appreciated. thank you.
congrats maolmash, happy for you. Were you assessed as a teacher or another proffession. Please let me know. Thanks

the first IELTS I wrote was in Lagos. I can't really remember if the examiners in reading/listening/writing were Nigerians but the speaking person was a white lady. hence my confusion so pls don't be surprised by my question

pls explain how a Nigerian will preside over speaking when its an Australian/British that will talk to u
it happens in Abuja. All the IELTS examiner who rate and score candidates on the speaking test are all Nigerians who are staff of British council.my IELTS examiner for the speaking test was a Nigerian. Am surprise at your question. Haven't you written the test before, you should have known by now the examiners are Nigerians or is there other centers in Nigeria where the IELTS examiners for the speaking test are native English speakers

Ifexsco

So how do you explain someone who could barely make a 7 all round or an 8 all round in IELTS, taking PTE, and passing well? There is something fishy somewhere. And it's not just Nigerians...the Asians are also complaining. There was a guy who was struggling to get a 7 in writing. He took the PTE and scored an 80 or so in writing....after taking IELTS 3x. The equivalent of an 80 in writing is an 8 in IELTS....and there are many other examples too.
yes Bossladymo I agree with you.if you watch real IELTS speaking test video uploaded on youtube which was conducted and taken by foreigners in non speaking English countries. You will be surprise to see an IELTS candidate with LOTS of grammatical errors in the speaking test scoring Band 7 in the speaking test unlike in Nigeria here where a candidate who has good command of English language but with FEW grammatical errors is given band 6 or 6.5.you can see for yourself on youtube

Well Stated, IELTS has rubbished a lot of ppl including me. Take PTE and you won't regret it, they treat Nigerians unfairly, our English Language capacity is far better than most Countries, but they kept failing us in an unfair manner and using it as a Pawn to generate revenue.

You will do extremely well taking PTE and u will pass with flying colours, a lot of testimonies about PTE on this thred.

hi,just want to correct you.it is fellow Nigerians who are IELTS examiners at British council Nigeria that treats Nigerian candidates unfairly. They are the ones who preside over the speaking test and do the scoring, they also mark the writing test not the british.Listening and reading is marked by the computer

I'm one of the silent readers on this thread, I have a B.sc in Special Education, currently serving, how can I apply to live and work inAU? What are the chances of getting a special Education job? I graduated from UI.
Special Education teachers are highly needed in Australia.check the Australia institutue of Teaching and school leadership(AITSL) website for further information required for your skill assessment, they are the assessing body for Overseas Teacher's who intend to migrate to Australia

please I need help on my issue as a student of sociology graduated 2011 from a university of education, I have bsc \ edu. in sociology and since 2and half years bn working as a teacher in a private secondary school. I want to live and work in Australia as av severally tried bn to USA but denied of visa. please help for God sake if I am qualify under d skill shortage wanted in Aussie. if yes what will I do? if no what is d advice and I want to be there to make my living more successful. pls I am on knee o for good and genuine response or advice's. thank as I wait for responses.
. First you need to have your teching skills assessed by Australia institutue of Teaching and School leadership(AITSL), they are the assessing body for Overseas Teacher which is indicated on Immi.gov website under the Occupation list.for u to have a positive assessment from AITSL you need to obtain 8 band score in the listening and speaking test,7 band score in the reading and writing test of IELTS,then u provide evidence of teaching practise programme while undergoing studies in the university and your university transcript, certificate with other personal information documents.check AITSL website if you don't understand anything and contact them for further clarification .once you receive a positive skill assessment from AITSL you go on to apply for permanent residency visa to migrate to Australia. Which you good luck

Thanks BossladyMo. I need to retake IELTS/PTE Academic to achieve at least equivalent of 7 in each band.

Pls i have some questions;

1. Do I need to process claims for points for work experience or should just apply for my EOI. I have been working since year 2000?

2. Can I lodge my EOI after writing my English test even when Special condition now applies to my nominated occupation in Southern Australia?

Thnaks
how were you able to get a positive assessment from VETASSESS when your IELTS result was not band 7 in all the papers

Well, it's actually a provisional visa...but they mostly categorise it under temp...it's the grey area between perm and temp. The annoying thing about the visa is that you can't get any financial institution job with it...neither can you get a permanent govt job.
ok
