I am tempted to disagree. A blog is a webpage that is regularly updated while a website is a series of related webpage. Also a blog is used to educate, entertain and inform your audience while a website is an official online representation of your business. So if you are an individual, a blog might work for you. You can rant and say what you like on your blog but if you are a corporation or a brand, you are better off having a real website and not a blog as a website. Yes, you can have a blog within a website but a website should never be given up for a blog if you are serious about building a business. I am presenting running a free course on how you can use a blog within a business website to grow your business. Visit www.vtnssolutions.com/blog/ to get started. |

Bros, Something is really wrong. Only your home page is showing when a search for your brand name is done. This is usually not a good sign. Have you checked your webmaster tool? Is there a message from Google. If there is none, then make sure your robots file is well configured but as at now, it looks like you have been flagged by Google. |
Hi, just wondering. Have you written a new post after that and has it been indexed? |
Lol. Google has a lot to worry about than to not index a page from a website. If like you said all the above are negative, then I advise you create a new sitemap. Make sure the new post is actually reference in the sitemap, then resubmit it using your webmaster tool. Then use the fetch menu. Another hack, you can use, go to one of your older post and create a "relevant link" to your new page but note my word "relevant". I will suggest you do this as a last resort |
henryobinna:I don't think you need to do anything special for Google to crawl your site. If they are not, you will need to analysis your website to be sure nothing is amiss. Here are some things you can do: 1. Check your robots.txt file to make sure you are not blocking anything. 2. Check your webmaster tool. Do you have a message from Google? 3. Is your whole site still indexed by google. Do a search for your brand name. If you are not on the first page, something is wrong If all the test above is negative, then just give it some more time. |
Ok. I get you but just as a side note. Blogs that do well are usually focused on a single niche. Great work and keep it up |
I don't run a personal blog. I run a business blog. They are two different things. |
Check your robots.txt file |
You have raised many issues but I will simply go to your many question which is "how do you measure the rate of a blog success"? Now I may not know the whole answer because ofcourse it depends on certain factors so I'm going to assume the following. 1. The blog is a personal blog So how do you measure the success? 1. How many repeat visitors do you get? 2. How many comment? 3. How many people will click on an advert cos of you. 4. How many people are willing to give their emails in exchange for an offer on your site I could go on but I hope you get the gist. |
Great but am trying to get it. Entertainment and Technology? How do you intend to marry them? |
Sorry to disappoint you folks but Google is killing page rank? |
When I did this post http://www.punchng.com/i-punch/how-organic-web-traffic-can-stunt-business-growth/ and did the followup http://www.punchng.com/i-punch/how-organic-web-traffic-can-stunt-business-growth-2/ little did I know that such a thing could happen on our own ground. Is there anything to learn yes. |

saints2:I do online marketing ie SEO, PPC, Email, Social media |
No, your post can't always appear on the top places in search engines (the world can't be for only you) but you can make your most important pages appear by. 1. Follow standard onpage optimization practices 2. Build links to the site |
I don't agree with your Backlinks part of the reason for guest posting. Guest posting should be done to do everything apart from gaining backlinks. Whenever you guest posting, ask yourself this question. If this guy refuse to give me a link, would I still want it? If your answer is Yes, then you have stumbled on your goldmine. If your answer is no, then you need to think again. The reason guest posting was penalised by Google was because it was done solely for backlinks. Do I guest post? Yes but on carefully selected platforms like punch( where no link is involved) and leadership magazine where links MAY be given. |
You really will want to check out www.foodprofs.com |
Blogging is not a means of earning money online. The true purpose of blogging is to attract the right kind of people to see your offer. So want to make money online? Sell a service while using blogging to draw the "right traffic" in. |
Hi, Offer free membership but restrick some services. Ask people to upgrade to be able to use those services. 2. Get involved in email marketing. Sell products your members will be interested in. Don't abuse the privilege thou. 3. Just be creative |
And I shed my tears for everyone requesting this software. Pls, after using the software, kindly share your experience with us. Tell us 1. If you intend got the traffic 2. How long it lasted for 3. If the traffic gotten has translated to dedicated readers for your blog? |
Hi, Just visited your blog and you seems to have started off on the right foundation. I have bookmarked your site for a guest post but I need to be very sure you got it right. One advise for you as you move on. "Never compromise quality with quantity". This has always been the bane of Nigerian bloggers. Good luck |
Thanks for such a great post. Just a little addition. The main advantage of SEO is increase in targeted trafffic not just increase in traffic |
chukwumanj: I just finished reading that post. Oh, I mean I just finished reading every bit of it, and I mean it when I tell you that it was just way too good, too good that marketers should pay to lay hands on such information. The truth is that when I first saw how organised it was, I almost swore that it was scraped from the internet, and sorry for the doubts bro but I had to google a whole paragraph of it only to find out it's actually your own intellectual property. That was just awesome. Any sane businessman who reads this should consider engaging with you on his SEO marketing, and thumbs up for that, indirectly I have absorbed more info I would use in charging clients for SEO marketing. Thanks for the info ;-)Hi, Thanks. Hit me up anytime for further discuss on this or any other online marketing issues |
