@OP,

I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED ABOUT POINT 14. IF SHE HAS STRONG MORALS, NO PROBLEMS, ON THE CONTRARY, IF SHE HAS LOW MORALS AND YOU IGNORE AND CONDONE THEM, SUCH WILL DEFINITELY PULL DOWN YOUR HOME SOMEDAY.

REMEMBER BOTH OF YOU HAVE THE DUTY OF BRINGING OUT THE BEST IN EACH OTHER.

Dragonking: 11. Football/ soccer:

“Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.” - Leviticus 23:3

God must love football, because most Premier league games and NFL games are played on Saturday and Sunday and he hasn't smote any players yet. According to the Bible, the Sabbath is supposed to be a day of rest and prayer, but most people know it as game day. In addition, american footballs were originally made out of pigskin, which is also banned.

**Hmm, that means the final World cup match between Germany and Argentina last Sunday shouldnt have held according to the bible** sad

Who told you Sunday is the Seventh day of the week. I guess you are a learner.......Recite Days of the week in its order.....

Career / Re: Lagos Tax (any Tax Officer Inhouse Or Firs Staff) by cheiwura: 8:25pm On Dec 18, 2013
Jarus:
If the pay package is not broken into its various elements - at least basic, housing and transport - it becomes quite difficult to compute the pension and taxes. The mgt or your HR would do better breaking down the staff package package in this for proper tax accounting. However, if they are not broken down, applying 7.5% on total income as Pension is not out of place, but you would have overstated the Pension, which is better than understating.

Also, for Tax, the new amended PITA makes it easy. CRA applies to the Gross Income. So you won't have problem computing the CRA, but the tax man, in time of audit, may not accept taking as relief Pension based on 7.5% of total income and not BHT only, but if you show evidence of pension remittance and all that, they can accept it.

For an annual income of 300k and below, clearly 7% is the applicable rate. It is when it crosses 300k that the excess will be subject to 11%. But I hope the 300k you're talking about is not monthly because we are talking about annual figures here. 300k per month comes to 3.6m per annum.

Thanks Jarus.
Kindly attend to this. I want to know the tax liability implication of those earning below N300k p.a. How would they benefit from CRA ? For instance, an employee who earns 15k per month as total emolument (basic- 7.5k, housg - 3k, tranport -2k, others 2.5k), annual= 180k. How do u arrive at his payable tax ? Mindful of the fact that his total annual pay is below 200k!

Urgent attention would be appreciated.

Nairaland / General / Do You Have Financial Intelligence? by cheiwura: 1:21pm On Sep 20, 2013
Hello guys,i never wanted to talk about
this.However i decided to because i realize
that some of you may find it very useful when
it comes to managing your finances.
Ordinarily, savings is taken as income minus
expense. What it means is that after you must
have spent all you need to spend from your
earnings as a business person or a salaried
individual, what you have left is regarded as
savings.Maybe wondering why,it is simple;it
is what you have not yet spent. Before i go
into details,i would like to look into the
correlation among income,savings,expenses
and investment.
Income : It talks about what an individual
gets into his hand or has in his hands
monetarily,it could be salary from doing a
nine hours job, earning from doing a business
or earning received from a form of work/
business of a type,it is definitely what an
individual relies on monetarily for his daily
bread,to keep body/soul together,to create
class for himself etc.The level of an
individual's income, goes a long way to
determine his standard of living. An individual
who earns five million naira annually, may
chose to live in an highbrow area like
Lekki,Ikoyi,Victoria Island all in Lagos,while
the one who earns two hundred and forty
thousand naira annually may live in a lesser
area. The difference between the both of them
is the power of "income".
Savings:It is regarded as whatever is left with
the individual,salary earner,business person
after expense. It is that part of income usually
kept aside for the"rainy day".It is always
useful for unforeseen
circumstances,investments, and in-built
personal financial confidence.
Expense:It is always regarded as the money
used in settling purchases/other issues.Simply
put, expense is the money you have allowed
out of your hand which by now is no longer
yours but someone else's.This could have
gone into bills,furniture,rent or something
else, the cash itself is no longer yours as it
has actually gone into exchange.
Investment:This is regarded as any venture
that is expected to bring back returns. This
return may take one year or more but the
sole essence of this is returns in one way or
the other.
Haven defined terms,i shall quickly take a
look at their detailed relationship in real life
situation.Let us consider a scenario of three
workers on same annual salary.
Sceario
Assume net salary of N3,000,000 per
annum
Assume 2kids
Assume 1 wife in all scenario
Mr A
Salary(net) N 3,000,000
Residence Duplex
Area Ikoyi
Cost N1000,000 yrly
School fees(2 kids) N500,000
No.of cars/maintenance 3/300,000
Miscellaneous N 700,000
Total Expense N 2,500,00
Total Saving N 500,000
Mr B
Salary(net) N 3,000,000
Residence 3 bedroom
Area Ikeja
Cost N700,000 yrly
School Fees(2 kids) N 450,000
No. of cars/maintenance 2/200,000
Miscellaneous N 650,000
Total Expense N 2,000,000
Total Saving N 1,000,000
Mr C
Salary(net) N3,000,000
Residence 3 bedroom flat
Area Mushin
Cost 250,000 yrly
School Fees(2 Kids) N100,000
No. of cars/maintenance 1/50,000
Miscellaneous N 300,000
Total Expense N 750,000
Total Saving N 2,300,000
Analysis
From the scenario,it is obvious that Mr C,
has more money kept aside after all
expense. But why is this so?It is clear from
the illustration, that all three men earn same
salary.Mr C's more savings is due to a
reduction in expense. He decided to send his
kids to equally standard schools but with
lower fees,rather than own two/three cars,he
held on to one that is equally easier to
maintain than that of his colleagues,he also
decided to live in an area that is not regarded
as an highbrow area, likewise,he cut down on
other things like feeding,calls,clothing etc.
Implication
Mr.C is more financially confident and has
more money to take to the next level
(investment) than his colleagues.A sudden
resignation,retirement or termination of
appointment is not likely to frustrate him as
would his colleagues.
Speaking Generally
I once told a friend that you maximize to
minimize and minimize to maximize, when
talking about the saving culture.I was simply
saying,if you increase your expense, you will
reduce your savings,if you reduce your
expense,you will increase your savings.I
believe the above scenario,applies anywhere
in the world, all you need do to increase your
savings and convert it into investment is to
reduce your expense, be you a salary earner
or a business person.
I do hope you have learnt something
today,please share with your friends.

U90 IN DIVERSIT:

I don't think you have left the shores of that our country called Nigeria. If you have, i believe you wouldn't be saying all these concerning one of the top oil producing nations in the world...... I felt terribly bad the moment i stepped out of my country, naija. Whereas, poor countries without the gift of oil do have uninterrupted power supply. During my (1 yr training) stay in Cairo, i once spoke to some Egyptian as to why they derive joy in protesting. They responded ( to my shock) by telling me that the crop of leaders they have now are not delivering on their promises. I told them to visit my country, Nigeria, then, they will know that they are in heaven. This is an African country ( like Nigeria) where constant power supply is a way of life. Here, you hardly see downstairs ( virtually all the buildings i went to had elevator ( because there's electricity). If one visits Cairo today and decides to rent an apartment the same day, it's as easy as ABC, courtesy of the gov't's housing policy. With 1 Egyptian pound (equivalent to less than 25 naira) one can board a train from, say, Lagos to Benin. I was so shock seeing all these things there. I don't know whether Egypt has oil, but i also discovered that fuel price is less than our 40 naria for privately owned cars, while cars for public transport buy at less than our 30 naira. And someone is telling me that we should celebrate 2 weeks of epileptic power supply. What a shame! SMH!!!

Peeps, for time sake, i will pause here.

It pains me whenever I remember that all what we do in Nigeria is politics of acrimony rather than that of ideology. Can somebody remind me population and economic endowment of South Africa vs their electricity generation capacity.

It is worrisome we will keep getting what we have been getting cause we keep doing what we have been doing.

Let us stop this campaingn of seeing political opposition rather than seeing critical national calamity. We are far from development if we keep celebrating 3400mw of electricity irrespective of whose light is costant on paper!

Nigerians it is high time we woke up from political manipulation. Campaigning with electricity after 50 years of independence is not a cheering news.

My opinion!
