your friend isnt the first person to say such, some other person who told their would be wife such werent so lucky and we cant even say your friend has 100% survived, since it shouldnt end till death. There is no harm in putting the conditions in writing or a legal document, that is the only thing that would save one in court. i like paper guarantees, so i can love with my whole heart without risk.
Mehn... this your response got me rolling with laughter.

Thanks for your reply.. but dont you think what you are suggesting is analogous to choosing to drive without a seat belt simply because you believe you won't be involved in an accident? it would be irresponsible of me to just outsource my fate to optimism, when I can do more.

As a man thinks so is he?.. In the context of your argument, perhaps we should "think" Canadians would be the ones seeking PR to Nigeria by 2020. you see that's wishing and not thinking. I am not wishing for a divorce. However, it is evident that it is on the increase and in the event of it, I could lose a substantial part of my worth, it is only logical I THINK of how to salvage the hazard. You correctly pointed out that Divorce leaves emotional scars, i'd like to think servicing an ex would exacerbate the trauma.

lets not make it seem as though prayer in the way and manner it is practised in Nigeria and by Nigerians, is a substitute for doing nothing. I would first fasten my seat belt before praying for an accident free journey.
But the thing is this. If Divorce is an option to you, you will likely take the divorce option when you are undergoing marriage pressures.

My friend in the Uk is married to a full blown white wealthy British man. Surprisingly enough he mentioned something before getting married to her. He told her if she would divorce him later in life come what may then she should not bother going further with the marriage. Mehn we were really shocked he gave her such conditions for their marriage. It made my friend understand that they would have to walk through any situation they found themselves in as the husband has warned that no divorce even before marriage.
They have been married almost 10 years and are still happy. They have had problems big enough to destroy the marriage but divorce has never been on the table either.

But someone who keeps doing the wrong thing and keeps praying for something different to happen is like someone who is obese and is praying to loose weight and still eating 24 hours. No dieting, no weight loss plan and just expecting majic to happen and deflate instantly.

Anyone coming from the UK would be a bit shocked after landing in Canada, some would be very shocked..depends on your level of comfort in the UK.lol

...when i landed, i disliked Canada for the first 6 month or thereabout. Things cost more money here. From banking fees to airline ticket to broadband internet plans e.t.c Transport services in cities wasn't as advanced as the UK, even the kebab do not taste as nice as the ones sold in the UK, no greggs (for some of us that like food). The cheap megabus and national express to everywhere is absent, no virgin bullet trains, Pubs are not so good in Canada..even non existent in some places, TV programs were not interesting... No canadian version of lord sugar, britains got talent, xfactor, deal or no deal, the weakest link, the numerous documentaries on itv, channel 4, bbc e.t.c but they do sometimes show the american versions. The only reason i kept my cable on is cos of kids channels.

With time i adjusted, since i have made up my mind that i am making the country my home. Now i like the country and appreciate the personal space, but i still miss the UK alot of times.
@ Salford 1.
You just burst my bubble with this news. And i was looking forward to relocating to Canada.

Uk is more cosmopolitan from all your explanations. I love National express too. Even Canada kebab is not so good? How will someone cope. I never used to miss catch up Tv programs like catch up 40D and other catch up Tv programs. Hnmmm..it is well...
grin i would rather thank you now. so airing my views and trying to look out for myself makes me a crazy person. it is alright. thanks to @Canadianfly for being civil enough to answer my questions without calling me names.

Its not about being a crazy person. It is that you have allowed your fear about this topic become something else. Fear shows itself in different ways and from what you have been saying so far your fear about this whole marriage and divorce topic has made you build up defensive walls in your mind. And these walls may really not be needed as it could be just an over defensive mechanism you have set up for yourself.

This is like me telling a police officer not to carry his gun to work. Because if you feel like you'd get shot, you most likely will. Think positively and no criminal will harm you. Potentially being shot is the reality of the job. Just like someday potentially becoming divorce after x years of marriage. Everyone should protect themselves at all times. Men and women. Losing all your assets after years of marriage when you're about to retire isn't a joke.
This is not how i meant it.
In as much as we always expect to be happy and married there is another thing called
*CONFLICT MANAGEMENT * there would be happy times the same way there would be rough times. As far as you are living with someone they will always upset you and you will always upset them but how you manage the not so happy times is also a choice which is not to be overlooked. There are ways to manage conflit which is another aspect of emotional intelligence.

Marriage divorce does not just happen. It is actually a build up of negative events and situations that finally leads to the breakdown of the marriage. I am trying to say such can be managed positively that would not eventually lead to the marriage breakdown.

Canadianfly:
Now you have spoken. That is the only way I see your desires work. Getting a prenup in MARRIAGE. Not sure about that in cohabitation.
Another thing I will say is this, no sane person gets married and plans to divorce. My advice is marry someone who you share the same VALUES with, have a good understanding of their background, family, how was she raised? All these things play a part I believe in having a good home, devoid of divorce. Above all, if you are a Christian....what does the bible say about being a good husband? Nobody prays for divorce, but it happens because people deviate from the rules of marriage and what God says about the institution marriage.
Your partner has to know this too, so when y'all face challenges that threaten the unity in your home, you can overcome it.
As for your statement of many men living in depression, that's actually very untrue. That's what you think, because you already have this fear hanging over your head. Many married men I know living in the abroad are very content and happy with their wives. In some cases they support their wives to build her career, be it paying for her schooling, licensing exams, watching the kids while she works late at work, etc.
Finally, you have to get over this belief of "your own" and "her own". You can never have a smooth relationship with anyone if you always stop and count who has what and who brings what.

*removes my pastor hat* grin
@Einsteino.

I think the above mentioned is a good and warm advice to follow. Have someone who is compatible with your personality and has the same values as you is very important in your marital decision. So that you both share a lot of things in common so that when you have any differences it dosn't seem like from the point that you are with an enemy or an arch-enemy but just a close friend with some misunderstanding whom you can settle your differences easily and quickly.

It is also vital to have a childlike mind (childlike is different from being childish). Childlike is being tender hearted, kind, void of Malice, hatered, anger, bitterness and resentment. flexible, easily forgives and look past someone's weakness and always hope for the Best. I hope this helps.

oh yes i am seeking pr already but this finding is really discouraging. To start with, I say my mind exactly as it is, I dont colour, may not be politically correct, nonetheless i try my best to stay true to my conscience. This is not about naija man sense, it is common sense to avoid putting oneself in precarious situations if all that would be lost is a label, so yes, if cohabitation were an option, i would take it or remain single in peace. i cant understand how anyone would be happy living with the risk of losing his all if he gets diovorced. from what i read, people divorce over there for the most frivolous reasons. you needn't be a bad husband to get divorced.

i dont know much about canada but i can bet my every kobo that a decent number of Canadian men may be wallowing in an orgy of depression over this unfair law. They may all be quiet cos they want to be politically correct, but truth remains it is very unfair. i cant wrap my head to justify the spirit of it, i understand providing for ones kids in child support and all that but not servicing an ex house, especially if she left you of her own will.

so if you dont mind, i would like to know if this hazard can be managed through a prenuptial agreement? thanks for your kind responses so far.
Mehn. This your respone stopped me in my tracks and brought me out of my lurking mode.
Are you planning for your future divorce when you are not even married already? It may seem you are being very cautious but if divorce is already an option then i bet you will fall into this mode in the future.

Why dont you just believe that you would be married and do not need to divorce? I used to have divorce at the back of my mind until someone mentioned to me the dangers of my thinking process. *As a man thinks so is he* please do not under estimate the power of negative thoughts. Divorce has more emotional scars than just the actual action itself.

Just felt to say something.

Hello house.

Been reading this thread and i must commend everyone's effort who has contributed in one way or another.
From my observation so far it is obvious that there are specific profession which are seriously cashing out and i would need some help with my current situation so i am able to make the right choice as to where i would stay when i migrate.

I currently hold a Business degree and also an MBA in the same field. My work experience is not in my field considering the fact that i had to work part time for survival through out my studying in the UK. And i just have one year work experience during my Nysc last year.
Please what certifications can i do to boost my career.

Seem like IT in Canada is serious HOT CAKE shocked shocked. Please can someone advice me on the various IT certifications u can take. I don't know if there is any certification like business technology or something that can ebable me combine business and IT.

Plenty thanks in advance.
Graduated from a UK Uni too and What I did was call my department in the Uni. Say you want a transcript sent to WES. Get a contact email address, like the admin assistant and email WES address and the completed authorization form to Sunderland.
They should print, fill their bit and attach to your transcript and courier it to WES. Your Uni might charge u like £10 or something but it should get to WES in 3 days. Don't know if WES will accept fax or email but it should tell u how they want it from your Uni on your WES account, in the Required Document tab.

Thanks so much. Can i hug you for this?? kiss grin
Ok what i am required to do is fill a copy of the form scan and email to my Uni so they download and fill their own bit and send to WES depending on if WES wants it sent by hardcopy, fax or email.

Hello house good evening.
7
Please i have some questions bothering that i require answers to. I am in Nigeria at the moment and i graduated from the University of Sunderland in the UK.

I am in the process of my WES verification. When WES requests for verification from my institution, would it be hardcopy?  I would prefer if the copies sent are through fax or email. Does my Uni need to also send my transcript through fax is it acceptable?  I have always thought that only hard copies are accepted. And the form i need to fill and send to my Uni to fill, that they need to also fill and attach my transcript to WES, is there an alternative means to sending by fax instead of the hardcopy as well?

Thanks in anticipation to your response
@bigfido i cant but comment on ur tenacity. It simply examplifies what this Canadian PR journey is all about. Ur post is an inspiration to all irrespective of our stages in Canadian PR process (either u are still thinking about applying or u have landed). My take from ur inspiring post is that this journey requires certain virtues/things & i will list some of them;

1-PATIENCE: At a stage in this application, u just have to be patient. For some it is at d IELTS stage, for some it is after AOR, for some it is even after PPR. While some people get PPR in 18days after AOR, unfortunately for some it is after 18 months. We just have to be patient.

2-TENACITY:U must be tenacious & never take no for an answer. Some will be rejected at IELTS stage, while for some it is Post-AOR, for some it will be by employers in Canada. U must not accept defeat for whatever reason. I had a guy in my AOR group whose application was rejected after passing medicals, he never gave up, he submitted a new application almost immediately after getting a new ITA, it was funny that he got PPR before 90% of us who didnt get our application rejected. What we are facing in the PR process is small compared to what most of us will face when we get to Canada.

3-DOING GOOD- Imagine u didnt reply Lere, who knows, dis testimony may have been delayed. U dont know on whose behalf d Lord will answer ur prayer. A lot of people have been helpful on this group, lets not be tired of doing good because at d right time we will reap d benefits not necessarily from d person u helped but d good u do always has a way of coming back to u. Some poeple's dream wont have come thru if not for this thread. If u have landed in Canada & u feel u cant help, remember this opportunity for Canadian PR was opened by people who didnt know if u even exist at all.Let us be our brother/sister's keeper.

4-DESTINY-Since we all have different names so are our paths. Some will write IELTS & pass it once but will not be able to raise d POF for 1 year, some will have tens of millions & good qualifications but IELTS will b dia hurdle, for some they will even have very fast timelines but dia application will go into security check & take months. Lets not always compare ourselves with others, u never know what they have gone thru or may be going thru.

I hope this lifts some1's spirit

THANKS FOR YOUR POST.
I AM ALREADY HAVING CHALLENGES WITH POF. JUST HOPING ON GOD.

DeepDarkTunnel:
Good morning gurus in the house,

Just a quick question. Is it possible for one's application to be mixed up with another person's application?

I submitted my application on May 22 with all attached documents. On June 29, I got a request for more information about a period which was clearly in my submitted application and was in my employer's reference that I was working during that period. So I was skeptical. I filled the form and submitted.
Fast forward to July 24, they requested for military records (which I am sure was not in my application). When I looked at the letter closely, I noticed that in the part they asked for military records, they quoted another express entry application number which is not mine. In the same letter they said fill the attached form. I did not see any attached form to fill.
Some 6 minutes after the mail for request for more information, they sent a request for me to pay the RPRF fee (CAD490)...
So, I ask again could it be that my application has been mixed up with another person's application?

What do I do?
I think with all the observations that you have made. Gather all together and ask for clarification on what they actually want. Tell them you noticed a slight mix up. Its better to talk to them than be silent on the matter. It could be that they mixed it up.

Congrats all new Canadians in the house.. white christmas loading.

@mummyjaygals, for your december trip, the trick is layers. Invest in cardigans, jeans, thermal wears, hooded jackets and you will do fine. If you have anyone going to the UK between now and October, get them to help you buy some thermal wears and jumpers from primark or asda. Personally, I prefer the turtle neck ones for female, becos I easily catch cold. I still keep some of the ones I used as a student in UK and use them whenever I travel to the USA. For thermal wears, pls and pls ensure the ones you get are thick, not thin. Fleece jackets can be easily gotten here at the 2nd hand market, so don't bother getting those from UK. Also panty hoses, thick ones from primark.. about 5 pounds but worth their weight in gold.lol..

https://direct.asda.com/george/womens/knitwear/womens-jumpers/D1M1G20C5S4,default,sc.html

If you are in Lagos, try Yaba, Mandilas in Balogun Market or where they sell 2nd winter clothes, look for grade 1 and select your choice. We can chat more off thread.

Congrats again, I am so happy for you. I know this will be me next year. grin cool

And Jumpers you can get some from Nija then when you get to Canada you can get more jumpers and winter jacket and other proper clothing for the cold weather.

Hahaha. I read this post and it made me laugh. My dear the cold is outta this world oh. Prepare yourself.

Please my 2kobo advice to anyone travelling soon.
Dont pack all your clothes from here. You will need more jumpers and clothes that are a bit thick that keeps you warm otherwise you will have to wear layers of 4 light clothes to get warm. Get some jumpers from here.

The cold easily gets through your head, feet, hands and neck. Always cover these areas. As you land quickly get a good pharmacy to take flu jab.

Avoid too flat shoes during the winter. Wedges are mostly good if you must wear something high. The cold ground can stiffen your leg movement. Booths for male or female is fine.

For most men you don't have to cut your hair too low cos of the cold. And ladies hnmmm. You will have to be in charge of the health of your hair. You cannot be running to the saloon to do a simple hair wash.

You will need to get deep conditioners, conditioning or moisturizing shampoos. This is because the cold bites our Nija hair really bad. Stay away from greasy hair creams, use more of leave in conditioners hair cream, hair serums(as they have repair ingredients and balances moisture and dryness. Get your own hand dryers and bendy rollers. Always do protective hairstyles to prevent minimal damage.

Get tights 80, 100, 150 Denier to wear underJeans trousers, normal trousers and skirts as they will protect your legs from the cold. Get thermal vests and bottoms or even tracksuit set the thick one.

You can carry foodstuffs as far as it is properly wrapped up in a cling film bag. All those using special soaps and creams get enough supplies too. I hope this small info helps. Goodluck to all travelling soon...

Good morning house.

Please can someone help me with the right

During my studies in the Uk, i was working but my job experience under NOC does not fall under skilled labour so i am opting to use my One year Nysc as my work experience.

I worked as a Computer school teacher. Please does this qualify as a skilled job to use as my work experience fall under NOC A,B or O?

And about POF, at what point do i explain the source of funds using an LOE if its a "gift deed"? Is it when the money has been in my account for 6 months or less than 6 months.
I have heard some people on this thread say we don't need money to be in the account for full 6 months before applying. Or if has been in my account for a while i don't need the letter of declaration that it is gift deed.

Please would appreciate if someone can explain properly so i understand. Thanks.

Hello fam.

Thank you for all your effort and support.
Please i want to start applying for EE.

Can i start my degree evaluation before writing IELTS?

Can i use IQAS for my MBA evaluation instead of the popular WES? I read where someone used IQAS instead of the popular WES and she was successful with it.

I am still battling with this POF. I stated before that i had a joint account where my name and dad's name are on the fixed deposit account.

Please what if its just my name on the account, do i need to show a letter that the money is a gift from him?

Or please is there a way anyone can advise me oh how i can make this account acceptable as POF? If i have to use just my name or open a new account
(i wanted to use this account as the money has been in the account for over 6 months)

Please i am really confused. Help me out.

Thanks to those who replied my post earlier. I am really grateful.
I have a question that has been bothering me.
Some years ago while i was applying for my Post Study work visa in the UK, i had to add my name to my dad's account. So its a joint account with both our names

Can i use this same account as my POF as both of our name appears on the account? It is a fixed deposit account. I am the only one applying for EE as my dad is not applying with me.

How much is required to show for a single applicant as POF?

Please help with all your answers. Plenty thanks.

Good morning all
Thanks for all your efforts
PLEASE I NEED HELP!!!

I want to apply for Canada EE
I did my first degree and master's degree in the UK.
Currently i am in Nigeria
While in the Uk during my studies i took up a part-time job as a retail operative (sales assistant) I worked for a total of 7 years. I am 34 years. So what will happen to all my years of experience?

While checking out the NOC, i found out that my skill is not eligible for the EE application. However, i did my Nysc and that gives my NOC under skill A which is eligible for the application.

PLEASE what do i from this point? If i am to apply do i need a reference letter from my previous employer in the UK or just my Nysc certificate? And how do i get a police report since i am already in Nigeria?

Hope to get a reply soon

Thanks.
