Number of people I killed uncountable – Osun suspect


A bricklayer, Adamo Aliyu, recently arrested alongside four others for robbery and murder said he has lost count of the number of people he killed.

Aliyu, who lives in Ikire, Osun State, his friend, Yusuf Idris and three others paraded by the state police command in Osogbo allegedly conspired with others and killed a petrol station manager, Fatai Adigun at Aku Area of Ikire.

The 24-year-old, who confessed to killing the petrol station manager, said he was contracted by Idris’ father to kill the man, adding that the person who hired them paid N250, 000.

The artisan, who said he lost both parents at a young age, during an interview further said, “I have lost count of the number of people I have killed. We have also snatched several motorcycles around Ikire. We usually sell to other communities. I must have killed more than 10 people.

“I work with Yusuf Idris. His father contracted us to kill the man. I was told a woman gave him the job. We went to the petrol station early in the morning and met the man there. My friend, Idris, hit him with a weapon on the head and he died.

Addressing journalists, the state police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said acting on intelligence on September 3, after a robbery operation at Koteyemu/Aku area of Ikire, police from Ikire Area Command in joint operation with the civilian volunteers moved to the area and arrested a suspect, Adamo Aliyu.

Opalola said, “The police, not resting, extended investigation to some areas of Ikire where three cohorts of the principal suspect were arrested from their various hideouts within the town. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit for discreet investigation.

“The unit immediately swung into action and arrested the 5th suspect. In the course of further investigation, the first suspect, Adamo Aliyu, made a confessional statement that on 28/08/2022 himself, Damilola Kayode, Yusuf Idris and Odewumi Sodiq, respectively conspired and killed a fuel station manager, one Fatai Atanda Adigun, ‘M’ Aged 55 years along Ikire expressway in the Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State and carted away sum of N100,000.”

Terrorism charges: Kanu receives legal team in custody

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has received his legal team in the custody of the Department of State Service and expressed optimism that the terrorism charges against him would be quashed by the Court of Appeal.

The legal team on a routine visit granted by Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja was led by Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and leader of his legal team, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, accompanied by some of Kanu’s family members.

The visit was to give the detained Biafra nation agitator, feedback on the Court of Appeal’s proceedings of September 13 where the legal team prayed the Appellate Court to dismiss the remaining 7 charges of terrorism and treasonable felony brought against him by the Federal Government.

A statement issued by Ejiofor on Friday after the visit said that Kanu was in high spirits and confident that the Court of Appeal in Abuja would discharge and acquit him from the terrorism charges.

According to him, Kanu used the visit to send words of appeal to his followers especially the Umuchineke to remain consistent, resolute, unshaken, focused and prayerful with the hope that there must be light at the end of the tunnel.



He said that Kanu was very optimistic that “the trial phase is gradually coming to an end”.

The statement reads in part, “The court-ordered routine visit to our client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has just been concluded at the DSS Headquarters, Abuja, where he is still being held in solitary confinement for over 14 months.

“Feedback was provided to him on the September 13 Court of Appeal proceedings in his appeal against the Federal High Court ruling upholding seven charges against him. Kanu was elated on the performance and legal prowess demonstrated by his legal team, led by Chief Mike Ozekome (SAN).

“Kanu was enthused by the accounts of the advocacy and submissions of Chief Ozekhome, SAN during the proceeding, happy with the panel of Justices, and was completely convinced that justice is already in the offing
“He was deeply touched by the sacrifices of Umuchineke, who despite the heavy downpour witnessed in Abuja on that fateful day, still thronged the court, in a show of uncommon solidarity and support for him.
“Kanu unequivocally reiterated his abiding confidence in his dogged legal team, who have always been up to the daunting task.

“Onyendu remains firm, tenacious and holding very strongly to his conviction that his trial will surely end in victory.”

Kanu had on September 13 prayed the Court of Appeal in Abuja to review the April 8 ruling of the Federal High Court which struck out only eight out of the 15-count charge and upheld 7 charges against him.

In his appeal dated April 29 and marked CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022, Kanu insisted that the treasonable felony charges against him have no basis in law and applied to be discharged and acquitted by the Court of Appeal.

Ozekhome SAN who argued the appeal on his behalf urged the appellate court to order his release from DSS solitary confinement.
Kanu’s grouse was that the charge gave unlawful global jurisdiction to the high court and that it also failed to disclose the location or date the alleged offencees were committed.

A three-man panel of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Jummai Hanatu has however reserved judgment in the appeal till a date that would be communicated to the parties involved.

Kwara principal allegedly defiles seven female pupils, absconds
The principal of Hassanat Islamic College, identified simply as Prosper, has gone into hiding after allegedly defiling seven female pupils of the school around Tanke, in the Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Prosper, who had been allegedly defiling the pupils for a while, usually used his influence as the principal of the school to threaten them against informing anyone.

Traumatised by the illicit act, one of the pupils, who could no longer cope with the principal’s action, confided in one of the teachers of the school.

In a bid to acquire concrete evidence linking Prosper to the crime, the teacher alongside other teachers of the school, commenced an investigation and were able to get other affected pupils to narrate their ordeals in his hands.

During the investigation which took place between April and July 2022, the voice notes and erotic WhatsApp messages that Prosper sent to these minors were obtained.

“From one of the messages we had, he (principal) even went to the house of one of the victims to sexually abuse her. But he mostly perpetrated the crime on the school premises.”

The teacher said the case was reported to the police but Prosper absconded after discovering about the internal investigation.

He had yet to respond to a message sent to the phone number regarding the matter as of the time of filing this report.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Okasanmi Ajayi, when contacted, said, “I have reached out to the Divisional Police Officer as regards this case. I was told two children made statements at the station. The investigation is ongoing.”

Reacting to the development, the Project Director, RESTforHer, an organisation against sexual and gender based violence, Dr. Olatoun Adeola, said when an educator sexually abuse students, the action could deeply affect the physical and moral integrity of the victims.

“The effects vary for each person as people are all affected by situations differently. Some physical effects may be instantly apparent. Victims of sexual molestation may experience disassociation and emotional numbness due to the shock of what they have experienced.


“When we confronted him with the allegations, he denied. But when we showed the facts, he admitted and promised to stop,”

PUNCH Metro gathered that some of the pupils who were said to be within the age range of 14 and 16 had visited the nearest police station to make an official complaint against the fleeing principal.

Contacted, Prosper, who spoke from his hideouts said, “Sir, please forgive me. I’m an orphan; I am ashamed of myself and I don’t know what to do. I have left Ilorin because of this.”

PDP’s day of reckoning coming, says Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said that the time of reckoning is coming for those who continue to insist that they can take the national leadership in the Peoples Democratic Party.

The governor maintained that nobody can silence him from speaking against such injustice and demanding that the right thing be done.

Wike spoke at the inauguration of the Emohua campus of Rivers State University and the flag-off of staff quarters, performed by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday.

The governor said such persons would account for every wrong thing that they have done when the day of reckoning comes.

He said, “That is why I am telling the people there, look, it cannot work. You can’t take everything. If you take everything, it will purge you. So you better do the right thing now.

“Don’t sit there and think that you can muscle me and you can do everything; you can manipulate anything. You can think you have the number to make sure you take everything, but the time is coming when you will account for it.”

He insisted that the delivery of quality projects by him and his colleague governors will serve the PDP well in their respective states.

According to him, it will be erroneous for the PDP states that have failed to provide good governance to solicit votes from the electorate.

Performing the inauguration of the campus and flagging off of the staff quarters, Makinde made a veiled reference to the recent statement credited to the national chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, who said those calling for his resignation were still children when he and others were founding the party.

He said, “If children are doing all of these, I think what Nigeria needs are children. So, my brother Wike, you can be assured that Nigeria appreciates you.
