Eruditor:
On Amaechi's best day, he collected 93B in 6 months between Jan 2013 to June 2013. In that time frame Akpabio collected 135B. Amaechi employed more teachers than any state governor in Nigeria and if you have any sense you would understand that equates to recurrent expenditures unlike Akpabio's infrastructures that will never get maintained as is the custom with mediocre governors.

Amaechi might have his flaws but you cannot peat him and Akpabio on the same level with respect to management skills. Amaechi has more heads to cater to with far fewer resources than Akpabio and when you consider that in 2014, Rivers allocations from Federal government reduced by 30%, then you know what he means by the monetary challenges that lie ahead for the incoming government.
I beg leave that think Ameachi is no match for Apkabio !!

The second highest earning state in the country is claiming to be broke! ameachi just openly confessed that he mismanaged rivers state treasury. i still say if shettima of katsina was an APC member we for no hear word, he is the only governor that didn't take a single loan. it is time we make it compulsory for governors to work within what their states earn, ameachi is leaving debt for his successor and still has the guts to say "he will see if he can builds schools and roads".

Please don't judge based on party lines, is this kind of utterance supposed to be from any governor on the side of reason?
Don't mind the blind man! he thinks the world start and stops by been an APC member. He is Satanic for all I care.........full of lies and propaganda talks

Since you cannot have the state you would rather have it set on fire.................but rather God will vindicate wike and bring you down in disgrace. GOD pass DEVIL.

Before Ladol, FPSO were being constructed in Europe and Asia. Why was no noise made then?

Ladol was not set up for the FPSO in question. It is a private engineering company. It hustled for customers and the IOCs seen that it has the capacity to do the job decided to award the contracts to it. It does other jobs apart from constructing fpso.
Well if the condition is not favourable they should pack and leave. Several other companies will grab the juicy opportunity

If it is productive you want...then you should rule out all states.

My point is....states should stop relying on sales of raw materials...and instead use their raw materials and people as the basis of mini-inudstry based economies.

Even the oil producers...because oil prices are dropping...and because the West is abandoning our oil....and because cars are now becoming electric and solar.

Nigeria must industrialize. It is our only hope. Nigeria must get off oil.Oil is a curse.
True!!

Here , read this article....http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/11/opinion/sunday/friedman-pass-the-books-hold-the-oil.html?_r=0

It changed my thinking.

That is what we should be doing. I did not say that we should dash our oil to the North....or that the status quo is OK.....I mean that every Nigerian....North or South ...should get off oil.

This is not a North-South thing for me. It is about a third way....the way of industrial and innovative growth founded on science and education.

That is the only way we can guarantee true federalism.
You are also right.......but here is the Nigeria of today.

I don't know what you talking about I am talking about states that has the capacity to be productive, be in in terms of raw or human resources.
Those that are not viable should be merged with viable ones to reduce cost of governance. I made my point. Not ready for long talks. thanks

Unfortunately, we SS are not allowed to control all the oil resource (except the 13% that we get....I am from an oil producer state BTW)...so, legally much of the oil is not ours.

And I am realistic to know that total resource control might not work....because everyone and his mother are dependent on oil. (That's why many of the resource control advocates are also regional advocates.....so that non oil producing southern states can get oil money too....heheh!).

Plus...resource control means what? That the host communites or the host state controls the oil? (Question for the gods!).

But i digress.

Most states in Nigeria are not viable. And by viable....most of our states...including the oil producers....are not innovative economies that are free of oil. Like Kaduna....Kaduna produces maize...which can be used for a variety of industrial products. Benue produces oranges...which could be used for food and pharma and even chemical industries. But you don't see these states doing anything about their local resources. Likewise , many of these oil producers too should develop economies free of oil dependency...because the way I see things.....soon we will be earning less and less from oil...because countries like America are on their way to energy independence. And green energy is developing in leaps and bounds. In twenty years...the developed world would not be as reliant on oil as it used to be. And where does that leave oil producers? Empty.

Most All states in Nigeria are not viable. Which is why I want you Nigerians to force your governors to make them viable. The age of oil is at an end. Time we industrialized. Oil is not going to rise above $100 per barrel soon.

This country cannot survive on recurrent expenditure based budget, government should rather be focused on empowering startup businesses to employ people, so people have to go as long as government will dedicate funds to business startups and job creation.

You're really beginning to sound like an enemy of progress of this nation...
He should also merge states that are not viable at all with some neighbouring viable ones.........because such states are only taking from Nigeria without adding anything in return..........this will reduce cost greatly. Why keep funding a business year in and year out without getting anything in return....we should look to practicing federalism as it should...its called 'Federal Republic of Nigeria'

Some Agencies were established by Act of the parliament, and as such it will require parliamentary action to repeal or amend any relevant sections to achieve merger. It must however be noted that merging agencies and departments comes with attendant job loss which "may"/will be resisted by labour and the redundant civil servants as well as inhouse politicians.

Well, we are watching whether #BabaOneChance have the political will to even send such executive bill to the parliament and whether the NASS members will be able to amend the various acts.

Plus...what is a ''viable'' state.? If it is in terms of IGR generated.....then Lagos is the only viable state in Nigeria.(I am not a lagosian BTW).

People should force their governors and LG chairmen to work for them....because in my opinion...that is the problem with most states. Lazy governors, lazy people.
so all the SS state generating oil revenue?? what will you call them?

No. What should cause sensible agitation is what Asari dokubo did and is still doing: making billions in the name of the Niger delta struggle and using it to go create jobs in a foreign country.

Even if he had sited his investment in Lagos like LADOL, ND youths would have been employed but he obviously doesn't think so much of his kith and kin, why then do you blame a stranger for neglecting your region when you can't caution your own son?

If gej was remotely interested in breaking a vicious cycle, he would have encouraged this project to be relocated to bayelsa since 5 years ago. If he was interested in breaking the vicious cycle, he would have mandated Asari, Tompolo, Boyloaf etc to utilise the billions he's giving them to do something similar in the ND, not using executive fiat to push a private investor into debt in a bid to soften the hostile reception he deserves from his people for sleeping for 5 years on the seat of authority. Or you think its beans to replicate such a gigantic project? Who will bear the cost?

But if course he's simply the ND version of the Kaduna mafia we all accuse of selfish born to rule mentality
What Asari got is so little compared to what other people have taken from the region on in the name of playing 'Nigeria'

Everything the company is fabricating isn't coming FROM the ND, rather they are coming TO the ND. The company isn't even created only for projects in the ND.....it's meant to serve the african market as the continent lacks ready availability of such a project.

Also, it's nobody's fault that Asari sees Benin republic as a better destination for the money he gets paid from the ND. If a son of the soil who claims to fight for the region doesn't think his businesses are safe in the region, why blame the non indigene of the ND who refuses to bring his investment down there?

The project is for profit, not for charity or decoration. Tell Asari, Tompolo, Ateke, Boyloaf etc to show the way by starting the investment boom with the money they're making daily from the region. If they don't love their region enough, who should?
In any case will service most companies in ND, its right thinking for it to be situated there..

One will simply imagine how a region is creating wealth and it is being enjoyed by the "sophisticated" and the "born to rule" mentality.
To enlighten you come to south south most of the oil companies there are being managed by the "sophisticated" whereas the youths and the owners of the oil begg's to be employed.
So much injustice perpetrated in this country called one Nigeria.
Their agitation is ok, its right thinking. I was wondering which way Nigeria when I first heard that it was to be sited in Lagos, meanwhile the oil and gas production is in SS. was wondering why a service centre will be located far away from operational base, the initial move to do it in Lagos was a politically motivated one in the first place.......which has to be changed......change should be all encompassing including using good reasoning in siting industries.......this is the best decision ever

From your hell hole cave you are wiser than the investors who are staking $500 million and you can dictate the location to them without staking one penny. With this clueless order watch the investors withdraw and take away the jobs to a saner country. They will do the logistics job from there and get their margin in any case, that will make you happier i guess.
The investors stand to gain a lot anyway. Let them risk to say the aint no more going with the project/contract and tens of other investor line up to pick the job, so no biggy!. Nearness is a key factor to be considered when siting industry, it was politically motivated in the first instance, its only common sense to sit industry near as much as possible to the raw material. You don't have to cause to make a point 'From your hell hole cave you' - very uncivil way to communicate
