I think there's a deliberate attempt using our media platforms to speak against Japa. From made up Ai generated marriage stories to articles suggesting modern day slavery for those who left. All these won't stop the rich people from leaving this country when ordinary social amenities like light, water, food, electricity and education cannot be accessed by the common man. A country where the middle class don't exist. Channel your articles towards stimulating the government to take care of its citizens to curb immigration buy paying appropriate salaries, building good infrastructure, creating sustainable jobs, building industries across the country, supporting Small scale business, upgrading our Healthcare services from tertiary health centres down to primary health care Centre and restoring the dignity, faith and transparency of our justice and electoral system. Stop the propaganda, be a patriotic Nigerian for once.
WriterNig: She's good at telling Nigerians the "truth", now it's her turn to hear the truth about herself. Two truths can co-exist.
Lesson to all Nigerians. Especially the ones who have nothing else in their skulls other than how to get a US visa.
You criticize the west and boom they tell you its because you were denied a US Visa. Like it's the air they breathe. Not everyone wants to live in the west.
Some of us are doing excellently well for ourselves here and even send money to those abroad. The richest Nigerians live in Nigeria. Only low achieving Nigerians are desperate to leave.
Kissing the asses of Europeans and Americans won't make them see you any less than a monkey in a suit. A well groomed monkey.
You think being born there makes you one of them? Lmaoo jokes on you.
They'll remind you of who you truly are in due time.
As long as you're black, you will NEVER be one of them or part of their history.
Stay back home and fix your country!.
we will stay back when the government starts to fix the country for now we leave in droves
Saga16: I'm speaking specifically about a medical doctor in UK as against Nigeria.
It's the same thing kind Sir You know the truth, Nigerian healthcare system has one advantage which is being so cheap and easily accessible for the common man. Apart from that, it is an archaic slave system where health care workers are exploited by their Toxic Seniors (Medical elders who preach that suffering must continue) and the Government who feel that Medicine is humanitarian only. Instead of Government to adjust their salary scale being used since 2009, they increased their retirement age, how callous. An entry staff in Sterling bank earns from 500k and above while a houseofficer earns 244k. That's why you see Doctors having 5 side hustles, some even go to the extent of siphoning government funds when possible and billing patients stupendous in their private practise. It pains that you sing songs against JAPA when you can highlight the reasons why people JAPA.
Saga16: If you have a brother that's a medical doctor in London, let him tell you the truth.
London is better than here 100 times You have access to social amenities, your pensions will not be delayed, your gratuity is guaranteed. Your children will benefit from world class education, their police is Truely your friend providing security and lots more. If Nigeria was better than London, even the white man will leave his country and come down here as seen in the case of US citizens traveling down to Bali because of high cost of living.
yommen: What exactly was it that the Yoruba muslim did to you? What religious war? Did Yoruba man kill you? . You Igbos are the real problems. You make unnecessary noise anywhere you are. Okay, why was it that it was you the Hausa man decided to kill in large number in the north? Why is it that there are more Igbos in prisons of other countries than other Nigerian tribes? Kindly answer the question
Unnecessary noise ke lol
Well an Igbo man will only make noise when necessary, we simply want to be independent providing for our family and community
malali: The West sells you a dream: "Come abroad, earn in dollars, live the good life." But behind this promise is a well-designed trap. They NEED you, but only to fuel their economy. They dangle opportunities while ensuring you remain an economic slave.
1. CURRENCY MANIPULATION: YOU CAN NEVER WIN
Your home currency is deliberately weakened so Western economies can buy resources cheaply and extract skilled labor.
Sending money home? High fees and bad exchange rates ensure you lose value every time.
Want to return? The money you’ve saved abroad suddenly means nothing back home. You’re forced to stay and keep working for them.
2. THE MORTGAGE SCAM: YOU’LL NEVER REALLY OWN YOUR HOME
They push 30-year mortgages so you stay locked into their economy.
After interest, you pay 3X the home’s value.
Miss payments? The bank takes everything.
Even if you pay it off, property tax ensures you NEVER truly own it.
Most immigrants work two or three jobs just to afford a house they barely have time to live in.
3. THE SALARY DECEPTION: HIGH PAY, BUT YOU OWN NOTHING
Your paycheck is taxed 30-40% before you even touch it.
Cost of living is adjusted so you never have excess money.
Layoffs happen anytime—one recession and you’re done.
Work visas tie you to one employer, so you can’t demand better pay or leave without risking deportation.
You work more, but never get ahead. It’s a hamster wheel.
4. THE SOCIAL LIFE KILLER: ISOLATION & BROKEN HOMES
Back home, you have community, celebrations, family bonds.
Abroad? Work dominates everything.
Friendships are transactional—no real connections.
Marriages become financial traps—divorce laws ensure men lose big.
Your kids grow up disconnected from your culture.
5. THE WORK VISA TRAP: LEGALIZED EXPLOITATION
Western countries market job visas, but here’s the truth:
You’re tied to a single employer.
You pay thousands in visa renewals.
If you lose your job, you risk deportation.
Your spouse may not even be allowed to work.
They use immigrants as cheap, obedient labor—then replace them when done.
6. STUDENT LOANS: A LIFETIME OF DEBT
Western universities recruit Africans aggressively.
You pay outrageously high tuition.
You take massive student loans that take decades to repay.
After graduating, you struggle to find jobs due to work restrictions.
You thought you were escaping poverty? You just bought a lifetime of debt.
7. THE FINAL BETRAYAL: THE WEST TAKES EVEN YOUR DEATH
After decades of working, sacrificing, and paying taxes, the final insult:
Inheritance tax takes up to 50% of your wealth before your kids see a dime.
If no heir is named, the government seizes everything.
Even in death, they profit off you.
8. WHO REALLY BENEFITS FROM JAPA?
The UK, US, Canada, and Europe need African doctors, engineers, and IT specialists to sustain their economies. But instead of treating them well, they trap them in a cycle of debt, taxation, and economic servitude.
For every one immigrant who “makes it,” thousands are stuck in financial slavery.
9. THE REAL PATH TO FREEDOM
Invest in Africa—stop letting them steal your resources and talents.
Use the West strategically—take the money, get the skills, but don’t get trapped.
Build generational wealth—pool resources, invest at home, and create local opportunities.
Know the game—JAPA is not an escape, it’s a new prison.
WAKE UP.
The dream they sold you is a carefully crafted illusion.
Wake up from the propaganda
If I have the funds to leave this country, I will. You know the truth A medical officer in Nigeria working in a government owned institution earns ₦300,000 while His colleague on Sierra lonne earns ₦1.5million with social amenities and work benefits. You are here saying japa this japa that. You've not been in the position of the common man in Nigeria where every single element plus the government is against you.
Heavens1stson: https://x.com/BashirAhmaad/status/1894403582306521387?s=19
lol lies this man wouldn't do this if it was Elrufai running against okonjo iweala. He will cite the following -The country is not ripe enough to accept a woman as their president. -Ngozi has no experience when it comes to the political terrain of Nigeria which is perculair from the world positions she has held. -Ngozi never condemned the activities of IPOB and supports Peter Obi who started waging a religious war in the previously concluded presidential elections. Well Time wi be the judge.
Electorate: Wether you are a PDP, APC, LP or any other party supporter, whatever tribe you belong to, let Nigeria come first before party or religion...
What happened at that airport should not be tolerated irrespective of who occupies the sit of THE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA.
THIS IS SO DISRESPECTFUL AND A SECURITY BREACH, TINUBU WOULD HAVE BEEN LYNCHED RIGHT THERE AND THIS COUNTRY WOULD HAVE BURNED FOR THAT SINGULAR ACT.
I love it when you scream put Nigeria first.... Bunch of hypocrites.
naptu2: People have asked why NAFDAC shut the entire Bridge Head Market? They ask why the agency closed shops that are not involved in selling drugs and why they refused to allow anyone into the market. They also ask why soldiers are involved in the operation.
In 2019 NAFDAC got a tip off that illegal drugs were being wharehoused and sold at the plumbing materials section of the market. They went to the market with policemen to search the specific shops that were suspected of being used to store illegal drugs (they didn't close the market, they went to inspect the specific shops).
The NAFDAC officials and policemen were attacked and mobbed by traders. They had to retreat without carrying out their mission.
However, NAFDAC continued to receive information that illegal drugs were being sold in various parts of the market.
The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, gave NAFDAC security cover and troops cordoned off the market to ensure that nobody could mob or attack the NAFDAC officials. NAFDAC officials and policemen went into the market and in the presence of the chairman of the plumbing materials section, they found that shops in that section were being used as wharehouses to store illegal drugs.
NAFDAC is currently searching other parts of the market and they have announced that they will allow traders to come into the market in batches, open their shops for NAFDAC to search and then the traders will be allowed back in if nothing illegal is found in the shop.
This is just sad No human empathy, why resort to wickedness all in the name of wealth. How do these people even sleep at night knowing that someone sick is going to die because of their fake drugs. If Nigeria was a sane place, anyone having such drugs in their possession should be jailed. I hope PSN will stand firm and ensure that all that import, buy and sell drugs are registered with if possible a monthly or unannounced visit to theit shops once in a while and if there's a case of fake drug reported then Government and health agencies should trace this drug to its source.
guideman: We're all saints today, but the truth remains that the Labour party of today in Abia state was the PDP of yesterday. Only the gullible is deceived. Who were those that looted the state treasury dry between 2008 and 2015. Who was the one always introduced as 'my personal friend '. When did these criminals invade Abia state? Who are they? Has the invasion stopped? Only time will tell.
sad but true How do we the common man survive in this country?
UzorIyke: Actually sorry to say this; I just read your comment now and was thinking that this statement was from an illiterate fellow, low and behold I saw your name there 😂😂😂 I knew it must be you.
sad to say but he's not completely wrong. Alex is better than the previous governor in terms off building roads but you see civil servants and pensioners, they are suffering under this administration with constant verification, dubious deductions from thier salaries, writing off of pensioners pension and gratuity, beaurucratic delay of commencement of minimum wage etc. Honestly If you want to enjoy this life, find a way to live outside of the Nigerian government as a civil servant.
APOPTOSIS: When those in Diaspora as well as foreigners keep seeing this... What would you expect? To clap for a country that operates like this every second of the day? Since, I left Nigeria I have never seen any country that matches Nigeria in lawlessness. Even some poorer African countries are not this lawless and senseless.
Nigeria's case is a product of GREED, and Wickedness
bro I need to live it's not getting better. Do you have any route for someone like me?
Softmirror: I like your excuse. Lol 😂. That's interesting to hear .
This is not an excuse please, I simply said my mind. The west are corrupt like us but the difference is when you are caught, you get punished ;their law above everyone but here we are corrupt, wicked and lawless. So sad. I want my country to work but with the way things are going, I will simply join the government and try to exert my change from there.
oz4real83: When govt gang up with businesses against the people, this is what you get . The Nigerian people always receive the punishments for every bad govt policy. The govt is the reason for unfavourable business environments through bad govt policies but Nigerians will be the ones to pay more, as solution to the bad policies, while govt revenues keep rising and the profit of these businesses keep rising astronomically
It's sad but what can we do Either you run from the country or you join the government
Now I think strict and stringent penalty should be enacted to curb and stop this menace of kidnappings in our dear country. The Penalty should be Death without Trial. Once caught, kill them at once. Nothing like Court trials or remand or jail. Shoot and kill Dem then dump their bodies in River Benue
well it won't If the economy is favorable and jobs actually pay well. This crimes will reduce drastically because even security operatives become lax and accept bribes, Healthcare operatives abuse their power when they are not well paid.
wonder233: Make America white again . Nigerian indigenous "white people", una don dey see how e dey go abi? First, he has blocked your worthless asses from getting jobs in America via inclusivity, second he has blocked your offsprings from being citizens even if you hustle to go and give birth there. Trump knows how to press your buttons, he is very smart, while doing these to you, he also gives you something to applaud, like giving Isreal more bombs to wipe out those moslems you so much hate. And tackling lgbtq people (werey people wey go still continue to do their shits anyway), so overall you continue to applaud the "Christian" Trump.
It's high time Nigerians are boxed into thier country to face their challenges, I don't give a shit about Trump as a Nigerian, I simply hope that Nigerians threshold for suffering is exceeded.
RhinoChest: In my earlier post, when Nelfund was passed into law, I suggested students that gain admission into medical schools, from Doctors to Nurses ought to be given scholarships, people said it discriminates other courses.
If we keep losing our doctors to other countries, we might as well incentivise students, so we produce even more. Yes, improve paying and working conditions but churn out even more doctors.
I would freely give medical students N2,000,000/annum towards their education. Upon becoming a doctor, they don’t have to pay it back, they just have to practice in Nigeria for 5 years.
Also, private universities like Covenant University should be encouraged to have medical colleges for doctors and nurses.
you have wisdom but we all know the problem.... It's simply renumeration. A medical officer in Sierra Leone earns 1.5 million naira while in Nigeria a medical officer earns 300, 000 naira before tax. If government increases the salary of Healthcare workers across all boards as it is internationally, Doctors will not only stay but even private practice will reduce but no, the government goes about making weird polices that continue to worsen the neglect in the Healthcare system.
Kobojunkie: How many times do we get to read this announcement wey dem still no go implement abeg? This don become monthly propaganda event at this point. Why are NYSC corp members not bold enough to revolt against this fraud for Pete's sake?
Daejumong: Should a pastor return money given to the church by a corrupt politician?
Some years back, a high ranking politician donated millions of dollars over a period of time to help the ministry of one of the biggest pastors in Nigeria. The pastor never queried him even though he knew it was beyond the scope of his salary!
Few years down the line, the politician was convicted of massive corruption and had his properties confiscated and bank accounts frozen!
The pastor does not believe he needs to return the money to the government! He believes it is God’s blessings and since he never knew it was acquired illegally, he has no need to give it back . The pastor in question is one of the biggest in Africa and worldwide!
Do you think the pastor is right? Is this similar to spoils of war in the Bible? Is this a case of the sinner’s wealth being stored for the righteous?
Proverbs 13:22: "A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous."
The pastor can use the money for charitable purposes, returning it to the politician is making matters worst. Also if our pastors start to preach the gospel of the spirit, thieves, corrupt politicians will either repent from thier evil ways or stop meddling in the affairs of the body of christ
buckeyemedia: It depends on what u mean by criticism? words of a spiteful bitter person, cannot be regarded as criticism.
so far it's criticism, it doesn't matter whether the person is spiteful or bitter . If the government has the interest of its citizens then it should find out why said individual is spiteful. Not to launch a man hunt with the target to silence the opinion of the said individual. Mind you there's difference between criticism and insults. I support criticism, it's painfulul especially when you are more powerful than the critic. But if you are open minded, you listen, ponder and correct your ways if the criticism is correct, if wrong you can present your facts and win.
People who lecture other regions & Nigeria on good governance are the worst governed.
I9bo man charity no dey begin for hin own house.
Only an I9bo man would leave his own house set on fire and be chasing rat in another man's house
omo I tire for you If you like keep drinking tribalism. Governance is a general problem in Nigeria starting with me and you. Nigerians are simply daft, loud and wicked.
It's sad that Dr. Alex Otti has joined his predecessors to suffer civil servants by increasing bureaucracy coined 'verification' and even owing pensioners for more than 12 months up to the extent of about 8 pensioners dieing aha . I personally don't have any grudge against him but why will you not pay pensioners their pensions and gratuity. It's sad. Are we cursed with bad governance in Abia State? Even the 24 hrs light supply in Aba is nothing more than stories sang by propagandist. Well atleast we have small roads to thank him apart from that, the governor has betrayed the very will of those that voted Him.
