I thought the John Terry argument was already done and dusted, No? I think it is fair to say at this current stage in their respective careers, History will judge Terry as the better player. Now that might change in the very near future but as of Now it's JT everyday.
Having said that, Dayo did actually bring up a very good point. BoaTank has actually performed better on the Big stage than JT has but then again so as Drogba when compared to Henry and no one rates him higher
PS: Dayo and A40, not every German player is greater than their English Counterpart.
SirShymexx: This is the type of ignorance I keep alluding to. When you start trying to create a non-existent form of superiority between the African and Caribbean community in the UK based on innuendos, it's problematic. I'm sure you know that the likes of: Zadie Smith, David Lammy, Vivian Hunt, Carol Lake, Damon Buffini, Baroness Patricia Scotland, Baroness Amos etc., to name a few, who're alumni of some of the best Universities in the UK and are some of highest black achievers in the UK.
Ever wondered why there are more black students (home students) of Caribbean descent at OxBridge, Warwick, LSE, and Imperial College - compared to black students of African descent? And why the Caribbeans dominate the black aristocratic class of the UK? Even on TV - can you compare the number of folks of Caribbean descent to those of African descent? You lot need to stop - both groups are on the same level, and the Caribbean community did open a lot of doors for folks of African descent. And you lot need to respect that. They might not have the quantity based on population disparities these days - but they do have the quality.
I am definitely not creating any form of superiority amongst the two groups. After all is said and done the two groups remain right at the bottom of the uk totem pole. What I stated are just mere facts. A black student of African Descent is more than twice as likely to get an oxbridge education as his carribean counterparts. Also Historically they have had the upperhand since the majority of them migrated in the 50s and 60s compared to africans who only did so in the 80s.
Now that's not to say they aren't any high achievers in the Carribean community. Ofcourse they are. Infact i went to sixth form with a few of them(Woodhouse College) and uni too. However let's not stray away from the truth. Yes i'll also be the first to acknwledge they have done a lot for the black community in the uk without which we'll probably be further down the totem pole than we currently are.
damiso: I read that's why Inner London schools over the last couple of years have improved GCSE & A level result because of the the high black immigrant population. [
Stats have shown that if you divide the Black ethnic group into two sub groups namely Black Africans and Black Carribeans, you'll get a whole new picture. I Think there was an article on that particular topic in "The Voice" magazine.
To be honest I wouldn't say I am that shocked. Using myself/my school as an example, there was a noticeable difference in the GCSE results of students whose parents were Africans as opposed to those who were from the carribean
Sagamite: The hard copy data I have differentiates. Trust me, Black African had 90% of all those percentages. Which mainly means Nigerian and Ghanaian.
We carry the black race in the UK.
Unfortunately this is very true. Most high achieving Blacks in the uk are of African descent(Nigerians closely followed by Ghanians). Statistics in the Education sector has shown that.
Nihilist: I'm remember the fat physio at Leceister Tigers academy that was rumoured to have given BJs during halftime/full time/whenever to like half the squad.
I know say you go remember that one.
Tbf to Eva though, for a 40 year old woman, She looks decent if not outwardly as many claim.
Chartey: It's not really about technical issues. It's the laws that make it very hard for African players to get clubs in the big leagues. Some laws are just silly like a player needing an amount of international caps before signing for a team in the EPL and others. Last week 30 goals were scored in the EPL, Africans scored 10 of those goals and South Americans scored only 3 yet players from S/America have a far easier road to big clubs than African players.
I'm sure you'll find the reason why South Americans have a far easier road is because they have a good track record of producing quality players. If i were to list the number of Genuine world class players the African Continent has produced in it's entirety, i'll be done in an hour. Do likewise for South America and it'll take me a week.
airmark: Google is a good search engine. Enough of feeding you with facts and still you will keep on shifting the post when cornered. That was how dayo was asking yesterday what awards valdes, abidal and pique won as best player in their positions.
What "Facts" have you fed me with? It's a simple enough task isn't it? Name these so called no nonsense defenders you keep harping on about?
airmark: *Be on and off the field due to injuries since most defenders are no-nonsense here. Ask diego costa and aguero, it's not a league you will be chewing gums and banging in 8 hat-tricks in a season.
coogar: and this is the same david silva some deluded football fans are comparing to the belgian ikedia. anyone that thinks hazard is better than silva is not only a fool, he should be crucified, burnt alive.....or both! he completely obliterated west brom with sharp incisive passes, excellent movement and a huge dose of football intelligence. football is not about dribbling and running around into dark alleys.
The same way some would have you believe Eden is a better footballer than Iniesta. He'll get close when He acquires a quarter of his footballing intelligence
Nihilist: I will always give Sergio his due as one of the world's best playmakers, because that's effectively what he is.
A Regista, a DLP, a younger, less-handsome Spanish Pirlo.
But he has not done anything defensively to be considered a world best Defensive Midfielder.
World's best playmaker bawo? When have you ever seen him totally dominate a football game? His job is to protect the back four. He also recycles his team's possesion and gives it to his more talented teammates
What else do you want him to do to show that He is the numero uno as far as the DM position is concerned? Lay a Golden Egg? C'mon brah
SIRcumalot: This isn't not english vs spanish thing it Is coaching philosophy. Terry and lampard have bad years under coach that didn't rate them,AVB and maybe Benitez. I saw Iniesta and Xavi play outside the Pep renaissance am talking about the Dutch coach era can't remember his name. And they made an impression and Messi go shine anywhere. Some players are a beneficiary of the coaching philosophy our very own Mikel is one. Herrerra is getting shafted because of these principle and Allen followed is coach from swansea to Liverpool because of it.
Thank Goodness you mentioned Rijkaard. Under Frank, Xavi was nowhere as highly rated as He currently is. On this board, only a few rated him back then(only Ibime springs to mind sef).
It's like saying Victor Valdes or Gerrard Pique is king in their respective positions.
At their prime, no one rated either of them as the best in their respective position. Have you heard anyone call Pique the World's best centre back? Ditto Valdes? Me Neither. Abeg give credit to whom it's due.
Nihilist: I will pick Toure over Busquets in my 11 anyday.
This fawning over busquets is something I don't actually get. The guy is good no doubt, but plays for a team containing some of the best players in world football.
He's very slow, not particularly good in the air, and isn't particularly strong either. He is a deep lying playmaker that plays in a possession based team.
Let us see him do it outside Barca/Spain, playing for a team doesn't average 70% ball possession per season, and actually has to defend for once...before we label him the Jesus Christ of DM jare.
Hype Hype Hype on this board.
Oya name a better Defensive Midfielder in the world atm?
No one is saying(at least I know i'm not) Sergio is the better footballer. But as far as the DM position goes, Sergio is KING.
lordfalcao: A Dmf should at least possess one trait . Which is been a goal threat (yaya toure ) Also able to shoot from different angle and score gals. In this era of football what matters is putting the ball at the back of the net and if your opponent score, you score one more.
And which of these "supposed" trait did the man who invented the DM position according to the English media possess?
Anyhoo, much of the arguement centres on who the better DM is not who is the better Midfield General
Ibime: At your age I already had First Class honours to my name, whilst you are busy struggling with National Open University Nigeria after failing to meet JAMB cut off.
That I am older than you is only of relevance if you have achieved anything in life in comparison to me.
Wetin concern my age with the fact that you are still writing NOUN degree while hanging out at Warribloods barber shop in Area? I never did that at your age dumbo. Keep it up.
Are you dissing Nigeria's Failed Education System?
cheruv: There's nothing like half Igbo.. Its either you're Igbo or not. If your dad is from Anioma, then you're Igbo but if its your mum like am suspecting, then you just like dollyak are in for a looonnnng ride This nonsense you're spitting out is what ogbemudia used to put the igbankes in the present predicament that they're. Dollyak has realized that she's yoloba and I think its time you do so too.your mum origin can never determine yours.
The Nigerian Education System has truly had it's day.
airmark: So based on your view just like me , LFC(la liga) played devil's advocate because at no point was Bisquit adjudged best midfielder in spain, while the likes of Xabi Alonso and illara were honoured in the last 5years he has been the WORLD BEST DM according to you. It sounds funny. Your point would have flown well if no DM had been given that award, but since they have given illara within that past 5 years, then your view is not sound.
I did not say He has been the world's best DM every year of those 5 years however by and large He has been the undisputed numero uno. I can also turn it around and ask you why did your much vaunted Toure not win it?
airmark: Do you agree an Holding midfielder is the same as defensive midfielder? YES
Do you agree Deep-lying midfielders are of two types?ABSOLUTELY NOT! ARE THERE TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF GOALKEEPERS?
Do you know we have Deep-lying playmaker and advanced play maker?OFCOURSE
What do you call the midfielder that is immediately in front of the two central backs? DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER. Their primary job is to protect the back 4
A40: I have been on this Forum since 2007 and I can unequivocally say that airmark is the biggest ret@rd this forum has ever produced bar none
Never have i seen idiocy displayed with this much vigor, zest and restlessness. He will win a Nobel Prize in any field of his choosing if he can channel that eediotic energy to more worthwhile causes. That is how serious his ignorance is.
This is the only reason why I have not ended this debate or should i say schooling session
I no go follow una yab airmax. We've been having a civilized(i'd like to think) debate up to now.
I just think it's a common mistake peeps tend to make. Any old hacker can occupy the defensive midfield slot hence why when teams "Pack the bus", they tend to use defenders as defensive midfielders . How can anyone watch Simeone and Redondo play and still tell me they are both DMs?
raumdeuter: 0 Pirlo when I first saw him at Inter Milan was an attacking midfielder who was converted by Ancelotti at Milan into a deep playmaker
Absolutely. You can even take it a bit back sef to Brescia. Their coach(can't remember His name) converted him because He could displace a certain Robby Baggio from the no 10 spot.
raumdeuter: Lol like saying Matic, Javi Martinez, Busquets, Coquelin, Makelele Sven Bender, are deep lying playmakers What play are they making rather they are Play "destroying"
