Congratulations to you. Thanks for sharing at least I have learnt few things from your post. One win is a win for all. PopularGingo: soo I'd like to share my testimony regarding IELTS.
Last year I registered for the exam in may, I looked up sample questions and videos for listening, reading and speaking but totally ignored writing because confidence and the fact that I lived and schooled in the UK for 7 years. I went into the exam hall with the mindset that its just english and i've never had problems reading, writing or speaking. when results came out, I was humbled. I had LRWS - 7.5, 7.5, 6, 8. worst part i didn't know about EOR then so I focused on work and finding money to retake the test again.
In december, I made up my mind to retake the test in March. I struggled to get the funds and this time i started practicing all aspects and reading day and night using Liz, ieltsonline and ielts advantage. I focused on writing because i felt that was problem area, of course it didn't help that all my friends had failed writing too. Exam day came (23rd march), I wrote like my life depended on it recalling every point i had made in regards to getting at least a 7 for writing.
April 6th, result came out LRWS - 8.5, 7.5, 6.5, 7.5. I was weak, I mean i thought i wrote enough to get a 7. I made up my mind to remark, waited a week and paid the fee. this morning, i woke up thinking where i would find money to retake IELTS again. my mind was just focusing on the fact that it took long to get result meant it won't be changed. Lo and behold, this afternoon, while making my hair i got an email, writing has been upgraded to 7.5. i'm over the moon.
Moral of the story: if you believe in yourself that you've put in the effort and still get marked down especially in speaking and writing, please apply for EOR ASAP. Be confident in your abilities.
Sorry for long story o, I'm just excited and i thought everyone should here my story and hopefully i can encourage someone. Both exams were written with MOD Lagos |

I believed in the Nigerian dream until I graduated from school. However, I was never interested in any 'back-door' process.
It all started with a visit to the Travel section of Nairaland sometime in 2017, I found and read through the process for Australia, I left it for a long while came in October 2017 during my search I found the process for Canada. I researched about life in both countries and their processes and settled for Canada. I read page 0 of part 2 and 3 and started following the thread from part 3. In February 2018, I decided I was ready. |

Chaii! Congratulations! ytp: ....”you have 33 minutes left, you should be on task 2!” At this point, I was inundated and confused because another failure could be lurking around the corner....I had stopped writing.Breathing in and out, I gathered strength from within to start Task 2 at 31minutes to go.Why should wallowing in self- pity strike after exams again? Needed to write for 26 minutes as it is a must to reserve 5 minutes to count my words.By the time I got the last paragraph, the word “dissolution” was spelt as “desolution” but I couldn’t figure it out after several attempts.Had to leave, I was blank, clock ticking and my darling 5 minutes had turned 4 minutes. Counted and recounted my words for the whole 4 minutes. After the exams, I found solace in the word count because I never made it for the previous attempts.
DonTee07 and Wasseynewest, you showed me one of the essence of existence - to be compassionate. DonTee07, I slid into your pm after you offered to review a co- nairalander’s writing and no offence was taken. For four weeks, you were relentlessly on my case irrespective of place and time. The encouragements, criticism, banters, showering admiration on my handwriting and why I should lure the examiner with it in the introduction....can never be forgotten. When I mentioned my “desolution” case, shoving it aside by saying band 9 essays also do have errors doubled my hope.I’m bereft of words,my prayer for you is between me and the almighty. As for you Wesseynewest, what you sow shall you reap. How many whatsapp group do you administer? You are one of a kind...selfless, down to earth, pragmatic, balanced and your voice/voice notes are the bomb! The last one the night before the exam was the icing on the cake. I had been a nervous wreck since Wednesday night,so while everyone was trying to check result Friday morning, I was pacing around the house. Ate 5 mangoes before 8am,and took tours around the house for the umpteenth time.By the time it was 1pm,assumed BP had dropped. Smiling sheepishly, I started inputting my data but the two eyes were closed immediately after submit.Releasing one of the lids, I looked down at the writing row... there was a slant on top so definitely not a 6 something, the second lid automatically opened.
First attempt L R W S: 8,7,6.5,7 ( @ Ifeoma, Joo2018 and co were encouraging) Second attempt L R W S: 8.5, 8.5,6.5, 7.5 ( @ Pyruveluv, you helped with my EOR without knowing me, may you always find favour. I would rejoice with you too. And by the way, you can tear the damn TRF with you.Good riddance to bad rubbish! EOR with BC took 11 weeks and came back negative) Final attempt : L R W S: 9, 9, 7, 8. God sent all these people to me including the person that encouraged the use of Write&improve. After 3 attempts with 6.5, I slid into somebori’s Pm.CRS now 451,hoping for ITA before my birthday 19th May....my hard earned 5 points must not vanish.May the odds favour us all. God bless Canada God bless Nigeria too sha! |

Edmontonlad: I feel like I have gotten PPR already and I never even write my test. Please allow me to celebrate about our little achievement.
So last two weeks Sunday, I and wify left for Lagos to start weac processing and her transcript. We met one elderly woman opposite the weac gate and we paid the fees she told us even though she was acting so unconcerned and hurry-up-and-pay-kinda-attitude. We spent about 28k or so because wify used GCE. We Sha left and concluded all the weac issues. We were told it will take 3 weeks for weac to process it. We proceeded to her school which was close. We met a nice and God sent woman in the transcript department of YABATECH and she helped us. She told us it will take 3 weeks to prepare the transcript before wify did different programs in ND and HND. I tipped her though. Na she dey call for updates about my wify's certificate and transcript.
Now you are wondering why I wrote this even though I have not written my ielts exam Abi? I read a post here about the delay we might experience due to the upcoming WEAC exam and it could delay the process. I was tired and had to make sure we finish our part and live the rest to God. We did a calculation that by end of June we will get ITA. We prayed to God to touch waec and YABATECH to send the documents on time.
Guess what? We received our waec tracking number last night and got the YABATECH tracking number this morning as we used UPS. We paid N13,500.
So, we hope that if it gets to WES by this weekend, we start counting 35 working days from next week. Our June target is still on track. Our test is next month and God's willing, we are going to WRITE IT ONCE. YES, ONCE!!! BELIEVE, WORK HARD AND GOD WILL DO THE REST.
Since I found out about Express Entry, This thread has become my second bae and ielts materials my third bae. Wify is the PA inbtw. I sleep and dream of life in Canada. We are newly married and we have decided to chill with baby making till we get to Canada. I am one of those that has made inquiries about accommodation. No day we don't discuss about life in Canada.
Point is, which ever level you are, celebrate it. It's not easy. I believe in the end, we will all be alright.
Start your process if you have not. Get all the necessary documents ready.
@IFEOMA77 has been of great help. We appreciate you. Our ielts Prof Wasiu, we appreciate you too. To all IELTS AND ECA CLINCHERS, good news will be your portion, to ALL OUR PPR CLINCHERS, GOD HAS DONE IT. Now go and prosper in your new land. Don't listen to any negative vibes. Thanks to everyone who has answered any of my silly questions. Daalunu! |

The decision to migrate was made in early 2017.
Evaluated my master degree with IQAS and hubby's ND/HND with WES.
We wrote IELTS 9 times (mine 8 and hubby 1)
I passed IELTS at the 5th attempt with LRSW - 9777
Unfortunately, this placed us at 439 and went for two more with 0.5 deficiencies in writing.
I then took the last test on 1st December 2018 and had LRSW - 8.5, 7.5, 7.5, 7.5. This breakthrough in writing came when Dr Benson offered to teach and review my write-ups. Our CRS score then moved to 445
I never got tired of writing the exam as it was the only mountain before me that needs to be leveled for us to have ITA.
My utmost thanks goes to the God Almighty !!!
I also thank my friends Oby, @Zinggi and @Wasseynet for always being there to listen to my silly talks and unnecessary worry at odd hours of the day (you all will rest now).
Thank you so much Doc Benson for bringing the breakthrough in my writing.
To as many as are looking unto God for PPR, the Lord will grant it. |

This is the most elaborate, concrete, and factual response. Well done Marshall! For all of us, who haven't tested civilization. Let us go first, we will give you feedback in 10 years time. ladymarshall: Others have answered you but let me add my 2cents too. I too like this kin discussion
Immigration is not modern day slavery, it is a survival strategy. People have always migrated for better opportunities decades and centuries before us and future generations will continue to migrate. The Irish migrated to the US when their economy were in shambles; the Germans escaped in droves to the US during the second world war, the Chinese, Mexicans, Southern and Eastern Europeans migrated to the US for better economic opportunities during the 19th century. More recently, young and middle aged Greeks migrated to Germany, Belgium and other wealthy countries in Europe when they could not recover from the 2008 economic crisis. Currently, the Romanians, Bulgarians, Syrians, Turks see Germany as their beloved paradise because of the economic shit their home country have become and the oppression Erdogan is giving Turkish journalists and academics. I joined an Italian online group in Canada and you would be surprised how similar their discussions are to our sister thread here, and yes they are also bringing in their own people to Canada. The black Germans run to US and UK after high school due for better jobs and social life. I can go on and on of how people seeking to improve their lot in life through migration to relatively better places.
"Who will build this country if you all leave, have you ever thought of that?" What a question? Those that remain will build it, you for example. Some of those countries mentioned above rebuilt their country, while still benefiting from their diaspora populations. We in the diaspora will support them with our money and diverse knowledge. In case you don't know, remittances from the Nigerian diaspora amount to 25 billion dollars annually and contributes to 6.1% of Nigeria's GDP.
For some of us on this journey, our minds are prepared, we do not expect Canadians to roll out the red carpet and welcome us with trumpets and basket flowers. Who said it will be easy? Is Nigeria easy? Is anywhere easy? We know it will be hard and there will be discrimination but isn't it the same with Naija. Can a Mr Oduduwa buy land in Ahiazu Village, Imo state? Can a Mr Musa just go to Bayelsa to buy one of the oil wells? Or course, Canadians will trust their own people first. But we will hustle there too as it shall be permanent, what the lord has done for us Mind you, the attitude you discussed among Nigerians is not peculiar to them. Even white people envy themselves. I have lived and worked with them. They are just much more subtle and quiet about their negative energy than we are. Following this, I would like to implore all in this journey to widen their horizon beyond Nigerians and Nigeria when they get to Canada. If Nigerians are keeping information from you, seek it elsewhere, ask that Jamaican, Chinese, Indian or American colleague, do not underestimate the opportunities and connection you might get from people of other nationalities or even Canadians. We are not joined with other fellow Nigerians with the umblical cord of Nigeria outside its shores.
I would have responded to your point on relocating home and my kids returning (connecting with) to Nigeria, but I do not want to go philosophical. Lest I cause an intellectual furore with my sagacious ruminations on the concept of home, fluid identity, creolization of culture, roots versus routes, etc. Mind not my hurly-burly
Finally, honestly your courage in returning is impressive and good work you are doing. But you have American passport abi. And if anything happens, you can sharply travel for medical checkup and treatment. And maybe your children are studying abroad or even stayed back in America. Na so all our leaders dey do na, medical check fiam, all their family, overseas, even while "serving" their country Having travelled wide and seeing first hand the discrimination that comes with having a green card yama yama Ecowas passport, let me too go to Kuvukiland Cannyland and get my navy blue passy, then maybe I will return to beg naija for forgiveness on this grave "betrayal". Up blue!!! |

Congratulations! konti: IT’S PPR indeed the Golden mail has landed. This Canada waka started in 2017 when hubby wrote ielts in December shortly before I had my first son. I wrote mine in March L7R8W6S7.5. Crs 380. A friend invited us to this group and we realized that the ultimate score for good crs is 8777 and the younger the applicant, the juicer . The responsibility fell on me to become the p.a. I had to brace up to tackle listening and writing. Fast forward to June 2018, second ielts attempt L8R8S7.5W6.5. Oh!!! I wept, we proceeded for remark and after about 8weeks of anxious waiting, it came out unchanged. Before I knew it, I took in again(chai, who send me msg na ) i started attending class in order to defeat writing. After the rigorous exercise, September came and I had the worst result ever L8.5R6.5W6S8, I was broken, discouraged and tired. Thank God for a supportive spouse who kept speaking positive words in my ears. Infact he proceeded to book 2 consecutive exams. Come October 13th I smashed L8R7.5S7.5W7 . We couldn’t ask for refund because the result came out a day before the next exam. I went in for the oct27 and I waved goodbye to ielts in style L8.5R8.5W7S7.5 . With a good ielts score+below 30+masters+3yrs work experience, crs 474. We dived into the pool in Nov and here is the timeline. Ita Nov 15. Aor Dec 20. Biometrics Jan 30. March 12, I Put to bed. March 14 I raised cse for newborn. It wasn’t up to 24hrs, I got double ADR. They requested more info of the company I referenced, my pay slips( I had 7 days to submit this)The second adr was for my baby. I submitted the first adr. Tackled the second within 2weeks( baby’s passport, medical and payment and updated Pof) I submitted these documents on 31st March and my ppr landed on 4th April. Whoops!!!! This journey was indeed an emotional roller coaster but God came through for us. Our VO is Ottawa. |

Nna mehn! Your gist sweet o. Congratulations! Selzsky: Post AOR—— I initially didn’t want to join a group ‘cos it’s not funny, waking up in the morning and finding over a thousand unread whatsapp messages. But, umunnem na umunnam, I now had to, ‘cos no man is an island on this journey o. I first joined the mixed whatsapp group...Indians and others but biko, my worry levels dey learn work for where those people own dey. Chineke meh!!! My MEP/BIL didn’t come at exactly one month, it came a few days after and this group did not help me. Sometimes I will not just check the chat for sanity purposes. Now, when I got MEP, because I wasn’t based in Lagos, I didn’t go for Biometrics immediately. I went about 2 weeks after. (Dec 3). That went fine. Then “de-main, de-main” waiting commenced. I decided to use that time to process for a new Intl passport as my current was due to expire June of 2019. Heard there was scarcity of passport in Lagos but luckily there was none at my location so, had that done and raised a CSE uploading the new copy. CiC acknowledged. All this was in Dec 2018/Jan 2019. The wait continued and in Feb or so I raised CSE to know my visa office and discovered it was Ottawa. I decided I wasn’t going to order notes or whatever but the silence was deafening. I joined our Nigerian/nairaland Oct whatsapp group through daks02 just to be sure say nobi only me waka come o. I appreciate members of that group and they have kept me company and increased my knowledge base further till date while cracking my ribs at times. By March 9, 2019, I decided to order my notes to know how far. Only the notes now arrived few days after I had received PPR. I didn’t bother calling although I would have, if I had hit the 6-months mark. One sure thing was that, 3-4 days in every week after AOR, before commencing my office task, I logged on to check my profile....(SMH). Like a hawk, my eyes were following everything. Then from nowhere, April 2, I saw that application/profile updated (d ghost). Next day, April 3rd, RPRF request. I just dey happy for my spirit, then I go con calm down again when I remember say, this relocating matter is not for the faint hearted sha o- as per job hunt and all. I made the RPRF payment April 6. Logged in again April 8th and noticed another profile update (my 3rd ghost visitation). So I hurried quickly to my email and there again sitting confidently was my Ready for Visa Mail. I was numb!!! (Numb as par say, e don set o, shebi this thing wey u dey find, u don see am o, beginning of next phase) loooolllll....the happiness set in days later. |
