- what a massive shame!!!! Siting on massive crude oil deposits - with 3 national refineries - having no link whatsoever with the Straits of Hormuz, Nigeria should have no need to be hit by the US/Israel - Iran War. But NO! It has the most useless entities in the world as leaders!! |

Travel › Re: The Dark Side Of Living Abroad Nigerians Don’t Tell You by Chidegu: 12:55pm On Jan 26 |
For someone like me living in Switzerland for almost 5yrs ..I have seen that all the statements are true for some people. The question to answer is very individual. What do you want for yourself , then your family if you are married. About others - its a bonus. Sunnyshinylight: The Dark Side Of Living Abroad Nigerians Don’t Tell You
Every day on Nairaland, Instagram and WhatsApp, we see pictures of Nigerians abroad living “soft life” — big jackets, snow selfies, fine streets, clean trains.
From Nigeria, it looks like once you japa, all your problems are solved.
But the truth? There’s a dark side of living abroad many Nigerians don’t talk about — especially those already there.
Let’s be honest.
1. Loneliness Will Deal With You
In Nigeria, even if you’re broke, you have people. Neighbours, family, friends, noise, gist. Abroad?
You can stay months without real human connection. Everyone is busy. Everyone is tired. Everyone minds their business.
Many Nigerians abroad battle silent depression, but won’t say it because they don’t want people back home saying “you wanted to japa, now see you.”
2. You’ll Work Jobs You Never Imagined That “abroad” dignity fades fast. Doctors become caregivers. Engineers wash dishes. Graduates do night shifts nobody wants.
Nothing is wrong with honest work — but the mental shock is real, especially when you remember how people respected you back home.
3. Bills Will Humble You Yes, currency is strong — but expenses are stronger. Rent. Tax. Insurance. Transport. Utilities. You may earn well, yet still be one emergency away from crisis.
That’s why some Nigerians abroad can’t send money home as often as people think.
4. Racism Is Real (Even If It’s Silent) It’s not always shouting or insults. Sometimes it’s: being ignored being over-policed being treated like you don’t belong working twice as hard to be seen as “normal” You’ll constantly feel like you have to prove yourself.
5. No Family Safety Net In Nigeria, if things scatter, you can manage: stay with family borrow food get help Abroad? If you fall, you fall alone. Miss rent = eviction. Lose job = real trouble. No uncle. No mummy’s friend. No village support.
6. Immigration Stress Can Break You Waiting for: papers visas renewals approvals Living in fear of one mistake ruining years of effort. That stress is not a joke. Some Nigerians abroad are physically there but mentally exhausted.
7. You Can’t Easily “Come Back” Once you japa, coming back empty-handed feels like failure — even if you’re tired. So people endure misery in silence, just to maintain the image of success.
Final Truth Living abroad is not bad, but it is not paradise. Nigeria is hard. Abroad is hard — just in a different way. Anyone telling you japa will solve all your problems is not telling the full story. Over to you, Nairalanders 👇
Would you still japa knowing all this?
Nigerians abroad, what’s the hardest part nobody warned you about? Let’s talk — no packaging. |

seems some people are not happy that the spate of banditry has reduced. Nigeria should not be a haven for an organized crime set-up. |

the last time i checked citizens can live anywhere they choose to in the country. But I also agrre that they must be identified, submit to the legal leadership in the place and contribute to and enjoy society development. So yes fulani can live anywhere but they must agree to the laws of the land and contribute to the society |

Christianity Etc › Re: Should I Only Pay Tithe In Church? by Chidegu: 2:43pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
iamadonis2: Hello, Nairalanders,
I'm really confused on the issue of paying tithe. Its my first job at 22. I'm a very religious person and that's why I need to sample opinions if I only have to pay tithe in Church.
I know a particular guy who runs an NGO that pays the fees of school kids from poor homes. I offered to sponsor this humanitarian venture. The funds I plan to put into it will be my monthly tithe.
Simple meaning: I will not pay tithe in church. Rather I'll take the exact 10% and support this guy.
Is it proper? Should I only pay tithe in church? Please advise maturely.
Shalom! There is nothing wrong with your desire, the best thing to do is to ask the instructor himself. Ask the Holy Spirit. Let him be the instructor on how you spend your money |

Kumuyi is saint so is every one who is born again Afam4eva: I grew up mostly as a Deeper Life member and i left because of their doctrines. However, i think Kumuyi is someone that other so called men of Gd should look up to when coducting themselves. I'm not saying tat Kumuyi is a saint but as far as being humble and meek goes, he thumps all the Pastors that i've ever come across. |
Christianity Etc › Re: 5 Reasons Why Pastors Do Not Need Private Jets by Chidegu: 12:26am On Sep 21, 2015 |
naive response. since when did private jet became a thing symbolic of the love of the world. bruised by the poverty mindset some of us think private jet is something too big for God to bless his servants with. what is private jet for goodness sake? didnt jesus ride on an ass into jerusalem, something very unsual among the peasant jews. why do we see private jet as something too big a blessing from God in whose name we invoke all other blessings? would to God all christians have a jet, how easily will it be for us to prove to this world our blessings begins from here on earth . |

We just concluded our MPH first semester exam at UniBen. The program at uniben is quite bulky being a part time prog and all encompassing. One had to take two weeks off work to thoroughly prepare for the exam as well as prepare a research proposal which was 40% of a particular course. i was reading btwn 12-18hrs daily for those two weeks to enable me get fit for those exams. So MPH as it is in Uniben is not child's play at all. After paying almost 330k you dont want to fail any course and experience further delays. But all glory to God for His grace! |

I agree with you totally. But I want to add that dinning with sinners isn't a mark of imperfection, else you could say Christ was imperfect. but he was not. fabraham: He is no God my dear.If Jesus could dine with sinners during his days on earth,I wonder why we see pastors as perfect men-on-earth.Pastors are no God. |
