Pls between murano, greengo and other dark green varieties, which one is best wrt yield
I think greengo. Because of it's gynoecious flowering pattern ( excessive female flowers).

I'm still learning to get the feeding pattern right though.

With the right amount of fertilizers, pruning, spraying, weather, That cultivar has a lot of potential for abundant yield.

Dear Farmers, how much is a bag of Cucumber today?
are you experiencing bitter fruits ? My few cu999 stands all produced bitter fruits. Under the harsh weather, Greengo although is sweet but cu999 is bitter despite irrigation.

I don't have cucumber at moment. Irrigating time depend on the number of stands you have on field, if its 5000 stand 35minute in the morning and 35 minutes in evening should do.
Please sir, why morning and evening. Why not once. I irrigate once a day. I want to learn

Thank you so much for this.

Most of the holes are around the emitters. Any way to patch them without cutting off the emitters?

Antibettings:

Check the video before, I used one joiner there. You can get it and cut where it's bitten then join together again

If pest is much, you can start immediately they start germinating to protect the new leaves from damage.
Sir please, do you think seedlings can handle systemic pesticides? Or will have negative impact on crops.

Additionally please. When should I start applying insecticide after transplanting? I only transplanted on Friday.
Same thing I also want to confirm. I usually start my pesticide spraying at day 10, the day I also start fertilization.
Is it too early? or FarmTech, Farmerakinloye6 what do you think sir?

My ogas in the house..... Does anyone have practical experience planting cucumber on wetland (called AKURO in South West)
I have access to a large expanse of wetland that can only be utilized during DRY season, dec-march.
I'd love to learn from those who have successfully planted cucumber on such land before
*MODIFIED*

Wetland? Never heard of this. Does it mean the land is always wet?

For me I use urea on the 15th day

And npk 15,15,15 after every 10days that makes it 35days.

But I would like to join the big boys this season by using mop on the 35day or 42day.
Even me oh. On my next planting, sure!!!

mastervick4glo:
please what is fertilization for cucumber

Sorry for the late response sir,

From what I'm seeing,
Different cucumber farmers use different kinds of fertilizers. They apply at different rates, quantities and at different intervals.

But I think the simplest and most common format is;

Apply 5g of NPK 15 15 15 per plant every 14 days.

You can include good foliar fertilizers.

1. Those fruits lying on the ground are more susceptible to rot because of constant contact with wet/cold soil. In addition to a good fungicide treatment, the application of calcium (foliar, top dressing, or fertigation) will also go a long way in hardening the flesh and endoderm of the fruits.

2. I use double rows per bed to maximize space, shade the beds (reduce soil evaporation during dry seasons and control weeds), and maximize fertilization. Although it requires more intensive pest and disease management, the result is justified.

Thanks so much sir.
But this melting I'm saying, even fruits ( both emerging ones and matured ) high elevated at the top will just melt from the inside. No single spot on the outside.

If you sight the fruit from a distance, you'll assume its a very strong green healthy fruit until you come close to touch it, then you'll discover it's just a bag of water, if you press it too hard, it will jus puff and spill on you
A colleague of mine also experienced it many in his farm.

My feeding program is quite different o...
By Monday I will be applying MOP which is a potassium based fertilizer and SSP which is for phosphorus.
Other fertilizer l plan using later is calcium and magnesium sulfate....
Henceforth, I will keep fertilizing on weekly basis.
I've already applied manure twice.

Proper feeding always prevent fruit abortions

Exactly. Well done.

Ok. But sir, I don't know your program though, I thought first side dressing with npk is usually day 10 or 14 ?

Yes. Saw a few. The moisture from the rains is too much hence the few rot.
How prevalent is yours?

I saw a lot. Wasted so many cukes. Results from my findings says it's soil borne fungi attack. Like you said; as a result of the rain.
1. What's your take sir? How can we tackle this during rainy periods?

2. And please sir, do you plant in singles or doubles? I'm reviewing to work on my spacing.
