how did they use their members to destroy private refinery? You guyz will just talk without understanding anything. Is it Pengasan that stopped the balablu from fixing the refineries after two years of removing subsidy. We are all hypocrite in Nigeria as long as we are not affected by that matter.
Maybe its not Pengasan that stopped Tinubu from fixing refineries " Directly". ...Buh you see all of them pengasan, nupeng, marketers they are part of the rot/corrupt system diverting our fuel to neighbouring countries and creating artificial scarcity

They are All in it, even the so called Union are doing Nigerians any favor, what they are after is their pocket

Or misunderstood it Sha.

Just show me where it is on the post that they signed any agreement or terms before employment to not join any union or association!

Because it seems my eye is paining me!
have you not worked in a Formal organisation before, You dont sign any agreement

Upon letter of employment you will know All you need to know about the companies, your package and others ... if you resume that Acceptances

Let even imagine you didnt know prior to employment, you can always Resign at anytime if it's against your person..

In those 6 houses you stayed...

You didn't need to "drag" anything with the landlord. Because some of the rights are basic, fundamental and enshrined in the Constitution.

Now if you do not know about those rights and the landlord takes advantage of you that's no one's problem.

The telling you to be home by 10pm are specific terms to your tenancy contract, which is in essence telling you to sign away your basic fundamental right to free movement. Normally, if you don't accept to the terms of his saying you should be home by 10pm at the initial agreement period then he has no right whatever as your landlord to control your movement.

Because the Constitution guarantees your fundamental right to freedom.

Is it now clear?
lolzz! you ended up slipping into what i am saying ... Nobody is forcing anybody here

if i didnt accept the landlord terms n condition how i for move in ... what are you saying huh
Same thing with Dangote he give you condition before employment ... take it or leave it weytin court wan do

If you give me terms n condition and i feel it infringe my rights ... its my choice to take it or leave it ... court can't force employer to rewrite terms n conditions just to favour you

That's the point.. imagine you are in dangote shoe too.. people just wanting to exploit you all in the name of union.. they just seem to be neglecting a very paramount aspect of economic growth.. and to extend it further, capitalism.. if it is for prospective purpose that can be understood. But Dangote pays, and they look after their employees very well in terms of their packages.. it make no sense trying to unionize when they organization itself on it's own takes very good care of it's people.. majority of responsible corporate heads will act the same way if the shoe falls on their laps..
You know i am amazed at likes of gloriousgbola n co. citing fire where their is no smoke

let judge Dangote base on existing businesses.. how are the workers treated, are worker in dangote cement texting SOS to labour union every month end

The whole essence of unionism is to mitigate unjust treatment, so where there is none of what use is union ... union go just dey chop free dues

on every truck i heard Nupeng collect 100k or is it 1m ... that is why they are fighting Dangote

Ofcourse, I acknowledged that much bolded...

Workers have certain rights just as well as employers do.

It's also like a tenant and landlord contract. Both has rights. Sometimes the tenant or worker is even more protected under such laws/conditions and are not "subservient "

The truth is most people are either ignorant, unwilling to go through the legal process, or don't just have trust in the judiciary to pursue such rights. That's why employers take advantage of them.

But those rights are there and inalienable and fundamental.

If a staff of uni illorin chooses to be a member of a legal association like ASSU then there is absolutely nothing unilorin can do about it bro. It's their right and the school can't take it away from them!
Good, its even good you brought the landlord and tenant scenerio

All my life i have rented and lived in over 6 houses .... never did i dictate the term n condition to the landlord

The landlord state there terms n conditions, there one that said i cant stay outside more than 10pm ... me wey be nightcrawler i bounced i didnt drag him to court instead i find a house that aligns with my choice

Employee is subservient to organisation Rules that applies to "All" ... where court have strength to protect workers is cases of " Victimization" .. thats it

i never sleep with folake4u i don know somethings if i cum sleep beside her nko i go be constitution undecided

so why did they joined ASUU back? U think if there is no union in this country to challenge these people, u will enjoy ur work? Nigeria rich and government are whicked when it comes to employees. They can allow u to work under dhuress and get peanut.
Sorry bro i am not naive, Unilorin is back to ASUU cos ASUU lifted the suspension on unilorin they went to the VC in 2020 and that one interest align with ASUU thats is all to it ... Not becos unilorin is suffering anything

As a matter of Fact the selling point of Unilorin that made them Outstanding was the uninterrupted calendar year .. they advertised " We are not under ASUU" that was why my Father sent me there

Stop telling me about Union in the textbook, Nigeria unionism is scrap, these people just extort n use people to cash out on both side

what enjoyment, you funny ! if we interview 10 workers today how many can corroborate your claim Nigeria workers are enjoying

70k minimum wage thats the best union could fetch ... that's the enjoyment rite,

Well they are also labor laws...

And these workers also have an employment contract.

It's not simple a matter of "exiting" if not satisfied. It's a matter of legal rights.

The worker has certain rights due him just as the employer has rights.

That's why they is the judiciary to settle such issues.

To me personally, workers joining a legal association that isn't proscribed by law is their legal rights and as long as the association isn't a threat to company's business they have a right to belong.

I think it's oppressive and discrimination if dangote lays them off for wanting to exercise their rights.

Anyway that's why we have courts to interpret and give judgment in cases of dispute like this!
You keep saying worker have this Workers have that ... Right is not only attributable to workers

I believe workers rights are subservent to Employers term and Conditions, you cant approach university of ilorin and start claiming right to join ASUU it doesnt work that way
Every player has Right, therefore Organisation have right to be under union or Not, the decision promulgates options workers have

You cant talk about right before " OPTIONS " .. No one is dusputing you have right But Nigerians fail to know where your Right stops where some else Right starts smiley
where your freedom/right infringes others right or terms n conditions .. it becomes invalid cheesy

The union exists to protect workers from management excesses and to ensure workers have a fair wage and to prevent victimisation

I will give a very simple example.

I worked in a Nigerian run oil company

They were able to cancel union in some parts of the company

One year management made a bad financial decision

The group ceo met with us and promised no one would be sacked

The next thing the non unionised guys were laid off with one month severance pay

I was exited four years later. I was paid severance pay equivalent to my years of service

An even funnier story is that the ceo of my unit who had always bragged about how he had always been a contract staff and had done so well without a union was exited with a miniuscle exit package of 10m. The person after him the coo who had been a full staff and had been in union before took an exit package of over 80m.

That is just one aspect. When you are unionised you can only be immediately sacked if you are in gross misconduct or theft.

Don't let any of these paid shills or naive children deceive you

There is strength in numbers

You can break a single stick but it is much harder to break a bundle of sticks
Your instance is within the ideal hemisphere, all private

You see the moment it involves, FG, labour and outsides forces Forget it ... dem go carry una cash out

Asides FG i dont think there is any private employer in Nig. that employ more than Dangote, you want to tell us to be weary of a Dangote that has being in existence for over 20yrs citing " imaginations"

In the last 20yrs how many scandal does dangote have dealing with his workers, dangote cement factory is not under union ... my lil bro worked there what did he miss, please let's stop over glamorizing this corrupt union

What if those company rules...

Violate constitutional fundamental rights like freedom of association for example?

The court can compel dangote to take them back if there has been a breach on their rights.

Internal rules or not!
No company rules violate your Fundamental right in real sense ... You have exclusive right to resign or dont apply there

if i say all my workers must wear hijab,.... your main fundamental right is " choice" either work with me or say No and exit ... no be everything be fight

In this case court cant do much , because the affected employees are not existing Nupeng members, these are freshers even Nupeng cant protect them

where court have power to decide is, If Dangote employees were already registered to Nupeng and dangote acts against them cos of unionism action

Unionism even though has its benefits but it's more glaring that it's like a club whose main intentions has always been a way to wield unnecessary power over an organization that treats you right to start with. It is a shallow move. And any reasonable organic corporate body warns against it... But either way, they will either get a deal with this or perish. Unionism is a big no no in a growing economy... And I think this will even be a good incentive for employers to have a good clause before recruitment in their contract or company policy.. Joining union.. nonsense..like they are not already gainfully employed already.. Dem belle full.. Dem deh find beku beku up and down

Prosperity comes from your country economy being based on manufacturing and export of manufactured goods and services.

its one of the means of raising Revenue Not the only way to generate Revenue as Tinubu is trying to confuse us

What are you saying? It was Buhari that approved the borrowing of money to repair the obsolete refineries despite expert advise from Kackikwu.

What has Tinubu done differently? This is bizarre.

He ended the petrol subsidy about 5 decades after it was introduced.

He went against the Petroleum Industry Act by
allowing the importation of refined oils to prevent
Dangote from becoming a monopoly and charging exorbitant prices.
If it was OBJ or Buhari, they would have banned imports, and supported Dangote.
