Way back in my primary school, I had lots of friend, we read books a lot, played ball, swarm in unimaginable places like in a flooded area and even in the Lagos lagoon, we attempted it, hahaha. 2019, 3 months before I came to Ireland, I visited that lagoon and it was quite filthy, to be honest. When I got to secondary school, my parents also relocated with me, I became lonely, I turned to the comfort books could give me. I read a lot, especially those Ghanaian books that's very short, our parents then thought we were addicted mostly my friends mum who kept seizing their own and throwing them away. So we saved our pocket money to buy those printed pleasures, parents couldn't buy for us and they thought that being broke will discourage us, just as the irish government here add a special tax to cigarettes and alcohol in a way to discourage consumption. When I'm shopping, instead of buying 3, I only go home with 1.

Some of the time I will read faster than I could buy them and turn to the dictionary, reading from A-J, falling asleep and continuing when I woke up. In one of this times, reading the dictionary is like the bible, it never gets old at all. I came across the word BLACK a number of times. It never stood for anything positive. From the cartoons to the Pulpit.

Have you seen our teeth, we have one of the best in the world, I close my eyes a lot here when it's time to kiss, lost of yellow teeth here, it's almost normal. You need to see how they compliment my skin especially how smooth it is. The way one was even licking my body, I almost felt used. Haba. I used to think when I was in Nigeria that my skin wasn't smooth enough and my teeth wasn't neat due to misconceptions and preconceived bias.

Never let any one call you a black man, follow the news, when an African person achieves something, they mention his name and even his country of origin, but when he misbehaves like in Grand theft Auto, the word black will appear glaringly.

I have to educate myself henceforth, Caucasians not white, what is even white in their skin? What is even black in my skin. I am six feet tall African man with brown skin and brown eyes, only thing black in me is my hair which other races has. Take a sample of charcoal, it's very very few in the population will match that shade of colour. We are supposed to be light in the world, like salt....the average Caucasian is cream colour, pink sometimes, never white, take an A4 paper to their skin and they'll go red with that comparison.

Bias and preconceptions are very subtle, from the art of war, silence and indirect approach are powerful. Never let anyone call you black, politely educate them, even the Africans chanting BLM are also in the wrong. I did a little bit of research and got enlightened. So glad exam is over. I would have written to the Irishtimes, but my words will fall on deaf hear unless we are in number so it can be amplified. I will continue to create awareness even if it means starting an NGO or something to put the word out. I know I have a voice, you also have a voice and when it's time to use it against wrongs, let's scream ALOUD.

It's just validation they seek, that's why some girls dress that way, the number of uproar they get might be proportional to how they Dressed to kill. I've heard girls boast about this kind of things, they'll say, how can you be a woman, no man has ever gone crazy on the road for you, it's things like this that fuel this act.

Plus I get to use the wifi and download till my laptop storage is full, and my external hdd is full too, I don't know why I brought it with me to Ireland, I've only plugged it to my laptop just once this year.


You see those bunch of paper, ill finish them in a week and be waiting for the next time I go to the office, the remaining paper, a suya man collects them and supply me with hot simmering dry meat. I miss them now, hahaaha.

I also have a lady that supply me with fresh palm wine, I don't know how she gets it sha, I guess it's from the Former compound of Lord lugard, Railway compound, haha, Yh, Lord lugard actually lived in ebute Metta, the Railway compound, the place still retains the charms of the old days.

Something struck me when I noticed how plain the area the congregation sat and how lavish and luxurious the pulpit where him and his wife sat, it felt like a throne....theres a world of difference between what I saw there and what I see here.

And folks spend a lot to buy it, the poor needs just a little to eat and survive. When there was a lockdown here, everybody in the country that lost their job both the students that get €200 weekly working just 20 hours to the specialist and managers that get about €3000 weekly on a €350 weekly relief, now that's Equality.

Being rich isn't about acquiring everything at once too early, there's a limit to what you can even buy. Imagine if you were gifted a 2020 rolls royce, and you were able to visit all the tourist attractions in the world in 5 years, after then your happiness will be in a terrible decline, there's no next best thing to hope for. This is also why the rich also commit suicide cos the thrill is gone. That's why you see the rich rushing items that aren't functional. A face mask was launched recently, it was made with gem stones, can you wear it to protect your life? They even launched gold toilet paper, and even tissue paper with real dollar bills.

The best thing is to spread the fun over the years, there's a reason why self made millionaires will feel fulfilled than those born in wealth.

Shoot your shot, as long as it's not Third class, the doors to do your masters is wide open. That haunted me as I finished with a 3.47, Ireland was a better option, even the UK also.

Truth is at out backyard, we only have a wire mesh that has been covered with climbers and other plants, I'm sure it has rusted cos foxes do pass through a lot and I'm sure they are not as nimble as cats to jump over it.

There's better financial security here, anyone that begs here might just be stranded or is a crackhead, they all get money from the government, I wrote a lot about this. I've heard of just one case of burglary from someone that has stayed here for some time, she was living in the city centre and went to church, only for her house to be raided, she reported to the guards, and within 24 hours, her laptop, and jewelries was recovered, how they did it, I don't know. Though they flashed the laptop, hehe.

Because the government takes care of jobless people here, it poses a problem, they become bored n jobless, and start to cause trouble. They would mug people just for the fun of it. Stealing phones and throwing it in the bin, they might be looking for pictures that they can use to blackmail you, I don't know o, they will just rob for the quick cash.

Safety is very high here, if only these boys will put their energy elsewhere....even the irish people are complaining too o, I thought it was racism cos they might just Leer at those they feel looks better than them....jealousy thing.

In as much as there's a lot if humour in what you wrote, it's simply the truth. A lot of Nigerians are blinded by the church mentality. Even in the lockdown some churches held secret services and people went, but dressed casually. I had to ask one of the church goers that can't you pray at home? Does she know she can get the Corona and transmit it to her community if anyone gets in her Church. Even the Bible says give Caeser Things to Caeser, meaning we should give honour to the government of our Time. But the person saw me as a devil advocate. Now Churches are opening on Sunday, you nee to see the jubilation on my street, alot of people won't put in practice the Government regulations for opening Churches. Honestly I don't talk about this Church thing, as alot of people tag me as an atheist because I don't share their reasoning. Shrugs

I went somewhere once and the fare on the meter was €12, I had €20, the irish guy told me, €2 won't make him rich, and gave me €10 change, he rounded it down, now up, naija guy for just hand me €5, because I had a relaxing ride and I want to treat myself, I won't have the energy to argue with him. I'll just consider it as his patriotic tip and hope he gets rich from the tips.
