Businessmogul93:Not really The general/study Visa Irish thread has lots of input on this. |
BUHARIISCURSED:@seunmohmoh, thanks for the question, I'll give my opinion below. That's the mistake people make, they'll come here and do bsc, spend Four years and it becomes a journey to work and living life. Its easy for them to get carried away and become dropouts. The best thing is to do your Bachelor's in Nigeria in the most stressless school, maybe private universities that is accredited with no strike and then go abroad for your masters, most country actually require you to study a year in their country in order to be integrated into their economy. In reality, its not every student that do Bachelor's that finishes, I've met lots of blacks that came here to do secondary school and Bachelor's working in the warehouse. Because of the masters thing, I was watching a news documentary about the Nigerians in the USA, a huge percentage of the masters and PhD owners are Nigerians. When you do your Bachelor's in Nigeria, you get lots of benefits: ITS CHEAPER I cant shout about the benefits of doing this in Nigeria. A semester fee in Dublin APART from my rent, feeding and transportation is enough to cover my tuition in a federal school in Nigeria. My rent for a month in Dublin is more than my rent for a year in Nigeria plus I even share the room here. I watched a Vlog in canada, Majority of student finance their education through student loans that they spend close to 20yrs paying off after getting a full time job. Higher likelyhood of completing your Bachelor's. Yes, drop out rate is lesser in Nigeria because of lots of stigmas for those who fail. Debt free If you're paying just one tuition like me, where will hypertension come from Fun Imagine sending your child overseas to enjoy their holiday. For parents it's a great incentive to reward good behavior Learning In my first semester, while I was studying Economics, I remembered that we had a course where I studied just Nigerian Economy History and I got to understand the impact of Agriculture before the Oil craze started. How will I have learnt that if I was abroad, now I can plan and see how I can impact the Economy wherever I am. Instead, I'll be studying the history of other nations. You'll get to learn more about your root through lots of Case studies and all. Remember in 2019, celebs overseas started to investigate their roots and even when they didnt find it, they went to one African country and bonded with the people there. Then they said, THIS IS MY COUNTRY. You get to connect and have people you'll continue to relate with. Even when I have my kid....... These are my opinions. Cheers. |

Hotdawg:Loooolllllllll, this gives me Joy mehn. Thanks man. |
seunmohmoh:Masters ![]() |
badmanjo:Dm then |
badmanjo:Really, what university did you go to, I'm currently at Dublin business school. |
sayitall:Hmmmmm, so how do I write it. |
sayitall:Awwnnnn, thanks man Let me kill several birds with this stone below. This is for all. The minimum requirement to enter into DBS Data Analytics is a second class lower, you'll need to package your application and work experience is going to be a huge boost. Cheers man, I've been there, I had a 2'2 and was supposed to study in Canada, they said i had to do a TWO YEARS POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA before i do my two years masters. I think my school can give you a 6month to one yr premasters or diploma, then you can jump in and to study your one year masters if you dont have work experience. Then you can swiftly join the labour market and start to make impact.

Dollywood:You noticed right, the one on my phone is sharp, it's just Nairaland image resolution limit. You know how expensive data is in Nigeria, sharp pictures will finish peoples data. If you care of the shots, I can forward them to ya email. I use a Samsung s8+, 10 don come out and e dey bust my brain. Since you got me covered, epp a broda na ![]() |
I promised to show you all what the quay looks like. Its pronounced key, lol, I learnt that my first day in Ireland. I booked Abigail's and it was located at Aston Quay. The hostel is facing the quay actually. I didn't pronounce quay as key but followed my English teacher rule of Thumb, Pronounce as you spell. I must say that me and the driver had a wonderful tug of words. Until he got fed up. I simply reached for my Loyal Hand luggage and fetched the printed bus pass. That bag has served me right from when I was in university, it followed me to the North and accompanied me in all my trips to lagos. I rocked it during my brief stay in ilorin and all. I kinda bond with items and have lots of memorabilia. Each with a precious memory. That's why I dont travel light easily. It's a vintage leather travelling bag my mum used and gave me, if you want a picture, theres one I dropped when I was in Doha. In the Quay, you can see lots of birds, that's another one too. You can spot the Luas tracks, that's the name of Dublin's tram. The birds in Ireland are really huge, they can torture a chicken we have in Nigeria, they're even bigger than chickens and smarter. I'll write about them later.

Sparrow0:I can say that IT is a thriving sector in Ireland, software engineering is really good. |
Sparrow0:You're right, a normal week involves me going to school only on monday, Thursday and friday. I get about three classes a week, with two lectures per appearance. On friday, I get two usual core courses and writing for graduate studies, to prepare us for our dissertation. Cheers. |
Dollywood:Thank you very much. Just so you guys should know, I dont read my write ups, any errors you see, pls pardon me. I type in the flow, that's why I might ramble and all, keep checking us out and stay safe. |
Linsigne:Thanks man, very good then |
imran90:Meeting people isnt the same as naija, its club person gaz go, no time for me, I enjoy the quiet time I watch youtube, read a book and cook myself something for now. |
Sparrow0:I take my classes online now, so will the exam also. Before the lockdown, I have three appearance in school in a week, where I take four courses, three of them for purely Data Analytics with two meetings a week and the last one is a preparatory class for dissertation. Every class is equipped with: Projector and for a larger class, there will be a huge display in the middle so those at the back can see. A charging box that houses about thirty laptops just incase you dont come with yours. This laptop can be accessed with your student ID; student number and password of your choosing. In the laptop, your student ID will unlock an Operating system which is hosted by a huge server. In this operating system, you have a windows arrangement, just as you can adjust and save things on your laptop, this also does that once you login. We also have a student email service and a learning app called moodle where you can submit your assignment, see the notes your lecturer drops, and other resources. Wifi connection your phone and laptop connect to instantly immediately you're in school. From your student App, you can submit a file to be printed in any printer in the school environment, these printer are connected to your app. When you get to the printer, you simply flash your Stidejt ID card which instantly brings out your account and the files you've sent over, a single tap, it is printed and deducted from your account. Yes, your student card also hold currencies. Lecturers computer, the projector and displays are connected to the lecturers computer which every class has. From this, the lecturer is able to access their account, change slides, connect their tablet so they can write directly into the display for all to see. Heater and airflow system Speaker system... White board marker for the old school, Card reader mounted at the door entrance so tap in when you enter the class. The information about your attendance is displayed for you and your lecturer to see in your ELearning app. Awon feminist will be very happy to see this, one of my core IT courses is taken by a female Indian lecturer, shes doing well.

Sparrow0:Lol, lemme alone oooo, theres a form of beauty you'll admire in rough sketches, who knows if I can create like Picasso. |
Going out to the park to exercise and take in some of the Sun's energy. No power frenzy military men here is going to make me do frog jump, Lol. As long as we keep our 2meter distance, I'm safe. We can go to the supermarket, bank, even some warehouses are open. How in the world will people stay indoors in Nigeria, what if the food runs out. Hian See ya later.

queengift:Amen oooo, praying for your wish to come through. |
The first pic was the evening of Ireland lockdown due to the covid virus, I remembered I needed to buy rice and other items. There was almost nothing on the shelves, even those outrageously expensive items we normally ignore was wiped out, it scared the crap out of me. After the announcement was made by 11am I guess, people stormed the supermarkets, malls in search of food. Those who came and couldnt find the items they wanted started to abuse the staff verbally. They had to invite the Guards- Garda, that's what they call their police here. I think it's their native name for the cops. Me as an African man, I jejely carried my nylon and walked out, I started to imagine, the prices of the food items wasn't increased, they ran out of stock because, the staffs there couldnt restock as quickly as possible. The next morning I came there, to my surprise, the shelf was full to the brim and more staff was available to restock and attend to the impulse and bulk buying. I bought times two of the essential stuffs I needed, just so you know, the prices didn't change if I had a car, I would have filled it with groceries. But this creates a big problem for those that will buy when I leave. If I was in Nigeria, I would have been in a very terrible and critical situation, you all know why. Humans will always be human, this is why we need a sane government. Because these supermarket are very large and they supply the grocery needs of people it's easy for the government to regulate them and observe for changes in price due to increase in demand. How many market women and men will the government influence. These are trying times indeed.

It snowed, this in February, it was mild and very little. The locals said they only like the snow because of their kids so they can come out, play with it by throwing it about, making snow men, and other fun stuffs. Ireland do not have much snowfall in reality due to the fact that it is situated in a region that makes it enjoy all kinds of weather, from humid to dryness, to rainfall, to lots of sun, to cloudy conditions to windy conditions, to snow also. I like the fact that I dont sweat even when i jog and i get home clean and refreshed. Little wonder why we don't have reptiles here like snakes, lizard and others. Legend tells it that in addition to introducing Christianity to Ireland, St. Patrick banished all the snakes from the Emerald Isle, chasing them into the sea from atop a cliff where he had undertaken a 40-day fast. Scientifically, it is believed that snakes couldnt come in the first place because the weather wasn't favourable to them. You can see lots of trees that look gothic and gloomy in my pictures, you need to see them now I'm typing, they're beautiful, I'll show you later. The winter affects the trees badly but not the grass. They're green all year round due to the constant rainfall.

This is almost 8pm, I really dont know what's going on, longer days. Nigeria is one hour ahead of Ireland which is a good thing for calling and keeping connection to home. Longer days don start. Winter is going. During the winter, daylight starts at 9am. And it gets dark around 5pm All the chimes in my Geography class about longer days in summer and shorter days in winter, they didnt make semse in Nigeria but here, it now make sense.

omoluka:Wellllllll from my background as an Economist, the opposite might happen, this is one of the biggest news of the century Globally. When theres a recession, they might reduce the number of people coming in, sadly. |
