Politics / Biafra Stay At Home : Nnamdi Kanu Releases Fresh Message by chimoskyg(m): 9:45am On Sep 23, 2016
Following the 23rd of September, 2016 slated by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to stay at home, the leader of the group Nnamdi Kanu, has released a statement through his lawyer.

The statement reads:

I AM NNAMDI KANU I have chosen death, I shall die for Biafra and let my death give my generation a better life, let my death be a guarantee

for a better future, let my death be your smile and let my death end your marginalization, subjugation, slavery and tears. I am Nnamdi Kanu the lion that chose death over the abuse of his people. I instead die than renounce Biafra, give me Biafra or kill me is where I stand. I have been arrested for nothing, I am a prisoner of conscience, they are here to break me, to make me renounce Biafra but they don’t know me, they don’t know Biafra is my religion and they don’t know renouncing Biafra is a death sentence, is like committing suicide. In their widest dream shall I commit suicide and I assure them that days of reckoning will come, for Chiukwuokikeabiama shall avenge the death of His children. I have taken an oath with the name of God that I shall never betray or give up Biafra because I knew this day will come. I am physically and psychologically prepared for this period. I took the oath and staked my family, my generations and everything I am, and so giving up Biafra in any condition is impossible, even at gun point, I will only accept my inevitable death than renounce Biafra.

Politics / Recession: It Signs, Causes And Consequences In An Economy by chimoskyg(m): 1:31pm On Sep 19, 2016
Recession in any economy, like it presently in Nigeria is simply a slowdown or massive contraction in economic activities.

It's a significantly declines in economic activities which may last for some quarters thereby completely hampering the growth of an economy.

Signs of a Recession

Recession occur when there are several quarters of slowing but still positive growth in an economy.

Some time a quarter of negative growth occur, then a positive growth for several quarters, and the third quarter became negative growth.

When there are declines in consumer demand which brings about slowing growth leading to drops in real GDP, income, employment, manufacturing, and retail sales.

A decline in GDP growth is also a sign that a recession may be underway.

Causes of a Recession

Politics / FG Explained Why They Are Unable To Rescue Chibok Girls by chimoskyg(m): 5:15pm On Sep 17, 2016
The Federal Government, through the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has explain reasons why they are yet to secure the release of Chibok girls, who were abducted by the Boko Haram sect on April 14, 2014.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Lai Mohammed, said President Muhammadu Buhari, on assumption of office, directed security agencies to locate and ensure safe rescue of the girls.

According to Mohammed, the Department of State Services on July 17, 2015 opened negotiations with the sect, which demanded the release of its bomb makers and fighters involved in major terrorist activities of the sect in the country.

The reason is that the division among the sect stalled government’s efforts to rescue the girls, he said.
He however, assured Nigerians that the government is committed to the release of the girls.

Mohammed also said that “Officers and men have sacrificed their time and energy, and some have already paid the supreme price since the abduction of the Chibok girls, fighting for the safe release of the girls.

Many friendly countries and organisations have equally been very forthcoming in providing their human and technological resources to assist in the process. They are still doing so. We cannot, as a nation, ignore these sacrifices.

He stated that the Federal government and its security agencies remain committed to ensuring that the girls are safely released in fulfilment of the presidential mandate.

Let me emphasise that government appreciates the resilience of Nigerians in the fight against insurgency and terrorism, and will continue to call on fellow Nigerians to hold that much is ahead and therefore support Mr. President’s resolve on this matter.

Business / MTN Ends Mobile Money Service In South African by chimoskyg(m): 8:06am On Sep 16, 2016
The South African Communication Giant, MTN Group, yesterday, scrapped its local mobile money business because of it's high cost of operation.

The MTN Group issued a statement in Johannesburg, saying the money money business was no longer viable in a country where around three quarters of the population already had a bank account.

Adding that the costs of providing a mobile money platform has become prohibitive. Our decision did not mean a complete exit from financial services, MTN said.

The group said they are still committed to remaining a significant player in the financial services space and will keep exploring opportunities in financial services space and other adjacent sectors.

The mobile money service was launched in South African in 2012 after the success of Safaricom’s M-Pesa in East Africa convinced some executives the service was the industry’s next growth area.

The MTN Group has now joins Vodacom in abandoning the service in South Africa.

It will be recall that the mobile money services have gain large popularity in some other parts of Africa.

The mobile money services is mostly used where people have less access to bank accounts for their transactions.

Politics / APC Blasts PDP For Demanding Buhari Resignation by chimoskyg(m): 10:27pm On Sep 15, 2016
Following the call by the People Democratic Party PDP, that President Muhammad Buhari, should return the economic to the way it was before he assumed office in 2015 and then resign.

The All Progressives Congress APC, has reacted through a statement signed by its National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni.

Buni in his statement said :

The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is drawn to the latest ridiculous demand by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari return the country to the the voodoo economics and reckless fiscal policies the country was subjected to during the immediate-past PDP administration.

Also, PDP’s silly call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari is not worth the ink it is written with. Hence the APC will not dissipate energy responding.

The PDP faction by its demand to return the country to the years where looting of the public treasury was the order of the day, has taken its orchestrated plot to deflect
attention from the economic mess it left behind to new insensitive and shameless heights.

Instead of this charade by the PDP, we advise the PDP and their cronies to apologise to Nigerians and toe the path of honour by returning public funds stolen under its watch.

While the PDP attempts to fraudulently re-write history and misrepresent facts on its misrule of the country, Nigerians are traumatised on a daily basis on disclosures of the startling level of pillage of the country’s commonwealth perpetuated under its watch.

Instead of saving for the rainy day, past PDP administrations and their cronies literally looted the public treasury blind, using the loot to build luxury hotels and other properties, stashing loot in farmlands and hidden bank accounts.

While the APC led administration is open to and welcomes positive and constructive contributions on resolving the country’s economic challenges, the Party assures Nigerians that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration is already employing all legitimate and innovative means to restore the country’s battered economy back to health in the quickest possible time.

The results of the fiscal and economic agendas embarked by the President Buhari administration to tackle the effects of the country’s diminishing crude oil revenues, falling value of the Naira and resuscitate the economy will be evident soon.

The APC appeals for patience and cooperation from Nigerians as the President Muhammadu Buhari administration works assiduously to pull the country out of the present hardships and restore the country on the path growth in all facets.

Signed: Hon. Mai Mala Buni
National Secretary

NYSC / Good News As Corpers Can Now Access N3m CBN Loan Without Collateral by chimoskyg(m): 5:55pm On Sep 15, 2016
Good news as Serving Corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who want to start business can access a loan of N3 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) without any collateral.

The Acting Director, Corporate Communication of the apex bank, Isaac Okoroafor,
made this known while speaking in an interview with journalists at the sidelines of the CBN Fair in Enugu.

He said under the CBN youth entrepreneurship scheme, the serving corps members and those who have not exceeded five years of post graduation from the scheme, were not required to provide collateral in order to access the loan.

Okoroafor said the issue of collateral has always been a problem among those of them interested in entrepreneurship. Adding that corps member who wants to start business could get as much as N3 million to start as an entrepreneur.

Okoroafor, told Corps members that they are not required to provide any collateral because we discovered that collateral is the problem. That their degree or HND certificate will serve as your collateral because we know it is an asset in which you have made investment. So just surrender it and that is all.

He said the purpose of CBN coming to Enugu, is to meet with young entrepreneurs and to bring to their knowledge what they do in CBN and to explain to them what their policies are, their initiatives and their programmes and how youth entrepreneurs could benefit from the numerous policies, put in place to grow the real sector of the country’s economy.

We also went to Ogbete market Enugu to meet with the people and the market associations and interacted with them.

We explained our purpose to the traders and they showed enthusiasm and a lot of passion.

CBN also sent to media houses to sensitize the people and urged them to attend the fair for the real interaction and exhibition that started on a good footing.

Okoroafor said the MSME development fund which is about 220 billion naira fund for micro small and medium enterprises. Sixty percent of that fund is meant for women and women owned enterprises.

While some states have accessed the fund. Some have collected as much as N1 billion and N2 billion and then they retail to registered cooperative members in those states in bits. Some states elected to pay the interest, which is not more than 9 percent on behalf of the beneficiaries.

We also have the commercial Agric Credit Scheme (CACS) for larger commercial farmers. We are for everybody. One of the greatest highlights this time is the youth entrepreneurship programme and that programme is for corps members who are either in service or have finished service in the last five years.
