personally i hate greyhound , the only time i entered it smelt so much (might be different now) but yes i understand as a student it good to cut cost .

For me greyhound is for short journeys , maybe if my school was like 5 hours or less bus ride but anything longer than 5 hours on greyhound then i rather fly . If you are still going to TN , then really check the price of local flights from JFK or LGA, it might be $150 or so more expensive than busing , but it quicker and easier for long journeys . Long journey with bus can mean a lot of change change as well , making it stressful

Yes oo aunty mi.. am really trying to cut cost oo. But anyway, i will look into both options closely and pickwthe one that will favour me more. However, i really can't thank you enough for spreading out all the available options for me.. Big kisses to you kiss

I have only used Greyhound from Philadephia to New York once. I don't know how far the bus station is to JFK as I was there at night. What I know is the subway is in the same place with the station. Since you didn't tell us where your final destination is, may be others can help you.

Thank you for sharing your experience my oga at the top.

Errmmm what state is your school located? I’ll advise you to take a Southwest airline flight...they don’t charge for luggage (2 boxes and all) plus flight is quicker and if you compare you’ll see bus and flight is the same price although flight might be cheaper sef plus southwest is really cheap too

Thanks alot, thats another option, please i would like to know more about that flight.. have sent you a PM, kindly respond.

Too lazy to type so taken from an old post ... prices might have changed .
Time can be hard to predict but leave at least 1h30mins

Step 1: take the Airtrain from jfk terminal to Jamaica Station. Please listen for the anouncement "Station D: Jamaica Station."

Step 2: at Jamaica Station, purchase a $7 MetroCard from the MetroCard Vending Machine, and exit the Airtrain system into Jamaica Station. Five dollars will be deducted from the MetroCard, when exiting the Airtrain system. The remaining $2 will use for the subway.

Step 3: follow the direction signs to the New sub way. Upon entering the subway, take the Manhattan-bound (westbound) "E" express train (Blue Line on the map) from Sutphin Blvd-JFK/Jamaica Station to 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Step 4: at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, exit the subway into the bus terminal. The greyhound ticket counter, is right next door to the subway entrance.

This is really helpful aunty mi.. Your ministry gallant no bi small grin Thank you so much for this, i appreciate.

To the best of my knowledge, I-20 does not carry any name, it will just show funded by family member or something like that.

The bold is absolutely not true.. It depends on the school, some still put sponsors name on the I-20 while some just put Family Fund. So it varies depending on the school.

Nope. I didn't know how it happened but I can remember that at one time,I wasn't looking at her.I was staring at my i-20 in front of me. She then asked me what I was starring at. I said 'nothing. She also asked me what school I'm going to transfer to after my ore nursing. I said that I didn't have anyone in mind. Plus the man she interviewed before me got on her nerves. Should I go to abuja for another interview or should I go back to Lagos?

Are you kidding about this? Please stop wasting your money on visa fee and prepare well. It doesn't matter if it's Abuja or Lagos, if you don't know what you really want... No vo will give you visa. Better wake up and stop wasting money that some people don't have.

@ Lagosismyhome is it possible I use a fixed deposit account, that is a fixed deposit certificate as evidence of financial capacity to get my I-20 and go to embassy for interview ?

Yes, is very much possible to use a fixed deposit account to get your I-20 in as much as you can attach the deposit certificate along side with the statement of account. Am very sure you can get your I-20 with that. BUT for visa interview i can't say for sure.. Goodluck.

v.o: how many schools did u apply to
me: just one,
actually I made a lot of research about many other skuls online but I had to settle for Murray state university because I was satisfied with wat dey could offer me....v.o nods head

me: thanks and I left

pls I need u guys to pls help me out with dis nd let me know aw I went wrong and things I can improve on in.my next interview . Thanks

There are 3 things i can say that led to your denial as side from the fact that i don't know your age as someone going for undergraduate, Haven't said that.

1. Most Vo's don't like students applying to only one school as they hardly get convinced.

2. When the Vo ask what does your sponsor do? The first answer you gave was actually very okay. You should have stopped at that and keep quiet even if you remember something more meaningful, because that could generate another question which might take you off track, the second answer was not really necessary.

3. When the Vo ask about your highest level of qualification, Marriage and number of kids + have you travelled out before? I feel all that put together gave the Vo the impression that you have no strong ties.

So for me i feel those are the areas that led to your denial. However you did well.. just add more effort and reapply again.. Goodluck man.

What of if the major he's going for in the states is different from the one he's doing right now?? Like someone studying law that really wants to study something like Accounting or Economics in the states. Would you advice him to wait to complete his degree??

The question is why did you decide to back out now in your final year? Even if you don't like the course try and finish it up.. No knowledge is a waste. There are so many things to put into considrstion before taking such decisions. Think about the time you have spent and all the money you have also spent from 100 level. Anyway, i think his/she knows what's best for him.

Do I have to tell the truth because because I never included it on my DS-160 that I was presently in one of the Nigerian university.. I might get penalized for it’s not on my DS-160..
can I risk to tell lies that I have been helping my uncle in his chambers?

You are currently in one Nigerian university as we speak right.. So what will happen if you finally got the visa? You will abandon your school here in Naija. Isn't that waste of time and money? Why not take it one step at a time.. finish your university program here and apply for masters which will make things more easier for you. America is not running, it's always there anytime you finish your program here in naija. My little advice is try and complete your program here before jopping to America. You can choose not to take my advice but i really wish you all the best and hope this help.

thanks it really helped do you know if there is any space for filling up numbers of schools applied to?? And names of the school on Ds-160??
Please give me your contact or have mine 08143244245

I think there is a place on the DS-160 form that states did you apply to morethan 1 school (YES) (NO)

But am not too sure about that.. You can ask those who recently fill a DS form.

I greet you,
Please my question is, i have an Aunt in the USA( a nurse and citizen too) she will sponsor my masters, will it raise an issue at the interview because she is not based in Nigeria?

Or should i be my own sponsor?

Which one is better chance.

Most people i have seen here have their sponsor base in Nigeria.

1). Anybody from any part of the world can be your sponsor in as much as you can justify why that person wants to invest huge amount of dollars on you.

2). As a graduate student, you can sponsor your self as well, especially if you have been working after your first degree, the VOs understand one can save up for his/her studies. The most important thing the Vo will check is, can your personal fund covers your 2 years program including living expenses for that 2 years? So if you can prove to the VO that your personal fund can cover all that, then you are good to go. So to answer your questions, the two options of sponsor you stated is very okay.. just choose anyone you feel is okay for you. Goodluck.

Please help me house..
my interview is less than 2days now..
Can I say something’s that are not on my Ds-160.. hope will i be penalized?
For example
I actually applied for 3 schools but I never included it..on my Ds-160
I only included one. Can I tell the VO I applied for 3 schools.. hope I will not be penalized since it was not on my Ds-160..
please I need response
My interview is at hand ..
Please please.. God bless you all

It's not really necessary to input all the schools you applied on your DS-160. So yes, you can tell the VO verbaly how many school you applied too and why you decide to stick to the one on your DS-160 form. My advice for you is to go the website of all the schools you applied to and study their websites, if you can have all their informtions handy, then you are good to go. I can bet you the Vo will surely ask you how many schools you applied to and why did you settle for the one on your DS form. I hope this help.. Goodluck.

Being that this is part 13 of the thread, I know this questions would have been asked and answered, but because I lack the keywords to search it out. Please you can either refer me to the page for comprehensive response or provide me with fresh detailed answers.
Question 1:
I was admitted to Missouri S and T (to resume spring, January 2017) and given visa December 2016. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, this was deferred till Fall, September 2017. But still could not travel. I was then advised by the school to move the admission to this session, which I did and was given admission to resume Fall, 2018. Prior to this, my previous visa is still valid till December 2018.
Based on the foregoing, Can I still travel with the previous visa for this present admission taken into consideration that I am aware I need to get a new I20, which I am working on already.

Please gurus in the house, help a brother in need! Biko

Question 2:
Assuming I can travel with the previous visa with this present admission. Can I travel to the US 3 months to resumption without having problems at the Port of Entry.

Yes, you can still travel with your previous visa but you need to check your Sevis status if is still valid. Secondly, you can't travel 3 months before your resumption, you will be sent vack back home from the POE. However you can only travel within 30days of your admission date stated on your I-20.
