Arizona042: Hello gurus in the house,
I received my i 20 last week. I submitted my inlaw's statement acc. but my i20 is nt bearing her name.Rather, it was written "Family funds": $Bleep
can I go with my dad's account to embassy since there is no name and relationship of my sponsor written in the 120?
Bigfrancis21,lagosismyhome . Yes you can. I noticed of recent some schools don't print sponsors name on I-20 while some schools does. So with such I-20 you are good to go with whatever family sponsor you want to use. Haven't said that, Is your dad not part of your family? So you have nothing to worry about. Goodluck man. |

Santiago69: Greetings all,
I had my interview on Monday 26th and everything went well. The VO collected my bank statement and said that he will get back to me after verifying with the bank. However, he later gave me white paper indicating that my student visa has been approved. I have been checking my visa status and it's indicating administrative processing. When does the status change after visa approval? Does it change immediately after the interview or does it take few days? Thanks Hello Good evening.. I sent you a PM please kindly revert lets talk..Thanks. |

Samie1das: Do it for free for two people then get 100 people to pay money and then run away? Everyone had better shine their eyes properly. This is a faceless forum and you must be very very careful with giveaways that have no basis. He never said you should pay him the money or send the money to him.. he only said he will help 10 people to pay 50% of the total cost of Toefl. For me i think is better that way so that more people will benefit from instead of paying 100% for 2 person. And there is no guarantee they will be serious with the exam being that the money didn't come from their pocket but he pays 50% for them and the applicant pays the rest.. i feel that will make them more serious because when they remember part of their fund is there, that will help increase their seriousness in the exam. However, lincoffm you are really doing a great selfless here and make God bless you aboundantly on behalf of the people you have help and the good work you are doing.. stay bless. |

Please I need advise on this as am close to my interview date. Also i don't want to lie and I can't afford applying to another school now. Thanks Kindly scroll back to page 112 or 113 i think someone gave a detailed explaination about applying to only one school. All the answers you need is right there. On the other hand, its not a crime to apply to only one school in as much you can defend or explain to the Vo why you chose that partucular school of all the schools in the US. Shalom! |

Aphrodite007: LagosIsMyHome
I am mentioning you because you are someone I respect a lot on nairaland and I have seen your contribution. Yes, Twoods is rude, but No, he is rude for good reason. We lack research culture in Nigeria and its very bad. some people prefer to just ask questions and not make any move on their own to get information- its such a disgusting habit. During my master's, I helped a friend who was doing his master's in Nigeria out with some of his assignments until he asked me to do his dissertation- I ended the friendship there!
Now if you look and the pages between 89 and this one, you will see a set of humans posting their cgpas and asking if they can study in America, however, if only they can go a few pages backwards, they would see the answers they need. I was also a newbie on some pages but I never posted questions until i read from page 0 to the recent page so that I dont miss anything. It is easy to bash TWoods for being rude, but imagine answering the same questions over and over again, even you would snap or ignore (like I do).
Now, to prove the lack of research culture I talked about, someone came and posted a list of 10 schools they found and asked to know if they can get the following from the schools.. 1. Assistantship 2. Low Tuition fee 3. Normal living cost 4 Chances of admission
Neither you nor the people that have been bashing Twoods have responded to this person, because it is outrageous to ask us to do your own homework. I know that Twoods has asked people to mail the grad coordinators of their courses to get such info, some other people have also added that people don't know about funding in a school other than the grad coord, why then would someone expect me to sit by my PC and help them do this kind of work? I mean, how on earth do you want a master's degree in a developed country if you cannot find information yourself, or if you do not have the common sense and patience to read from the beginning of the thread, truly (like someone said) not everyone here is a graduate!
The end point of this is that even if Twoods or whoever is scolding newbies, since you have a big heart, answer the newbies. After three repeated responses, i'm sure you will give up! Am just being forced to comment on this. Bro all what you have stated is not an excuse to be rude or what so ever. It has been said here over and over again.. if you perceive a question to be a dum/foolish question and you feel you can not respond to such questions.. you can simply just scroll pass the question and move on instead of insulting or bulling that person. That is the point everyone is trying to make. Then again as regards to your question about Lagosismyhome. It could be she is off online at the moment when that question was asked or possibly she chose not to respond instead of being rude to the person which i see as maturity. So you can see everything boils down to one point and I hope you understand the point! Shalom. |

Pearl93: One thing i have to say is your looks matter a looot. These people have to interview a lot of people every day. They dont have time for story. One look at You, And they already know if you are real or fake.
Then your spoken English as well.
One guy was shouting at a V.O today. Saying something about coming back home to make Maggie... lol. It was so funny.
Another guy was asked what he would do after his degree and he said he wants to come home. Come home and do what? He couldn't answer.
In the 1 hour I stood there, it was easy for me to predict those who would be approved and those who would be denied.
And all my guesses turned out right. It's not about prayers. The people I was with prayed. I am an atheist. I dont believe in prayers, god or luck. Just hard work and dedication.
You don't need to wear a suit. You can look very good in a shirt and trousers.
Your look is the first good thing. Your spoken English is next. I heard some people speak and I told myself if I were the V.O, I won't approve these ones.
Speak clearly, distinctly and like a graduate.
Don't dress up in bend down select clothes and think one V.O won't notice how cheap you look.
Wear a nice shirt or gown, put on very light make up and put a glasses on your face to give you a more serious appearance .
Luck or prayer don't do shit. Everyone I went in with prayed except me. None of them got it In my opinion, you are totally wrong because the Vo has no time to look at what you are wearing or how beautiful/ugly you are to get an approval or denial. Moreover, this write up of yours makes no sense and is uncalled for. |

The guy that said DeeTus has not travelled to the US before.. what difference does it make..? If you have a good job here in Naija and earn a fat salary, why would you want to live in America?? I know of few people who travelled to the US and they came back after a month.. saying they are better off enjoying their money here in Naija than US. You need to understand that people are different and is not everyone that is crazy about those fancy things in America. Now lets come back home.. DeeTus has a pretty good knowledge about some american laws/rules regarding schools policy, visa processing, etc and which he as been using to do a selfless work on this thread by sharing those information, touching lives and helping people actualize their dreams with the information he as about America, even without him been to america before. His a genius, and a Champion. DeeTus, you are doing a great job on this thread and don't allow anyone to weigh you down or make you feel inferior in any way because you are Not! I duff my hat for you.. for a job well done on this thread and i believe some other people on these thread appreciate you as well.
More grace to you! |
