My interview was for 6:30am, i arrived at the embassy at 5:30am, i was interview by that slim beautiful lady they normally talk about here, she did my Bio-metric and also interview me. from the moment i step in the embassy i started smiling to everyone including her not knowing she will be the one to interview me but i actually didn"t want her to interview me because of what have heard so far about her, that she normally drain people with questions. I was the 3rd person she interview, the first guy she interviewed was denied and then the second person was one of those sister's from catholic church, she almost denied her but she was able to explain her self well and she was approved and then Meeeeee My Transcript goes this way... VO: What are you going to study in the Us Me: Am going to ETSU to pursue a bachelor degree in Business administration and Management for the period of 48 months which i will taking courses in.. she cuts in Okay..okay and started typing VO: Why are you just going for your Bachelor degree now Me: This is when my Dad is capable of paying for my tuition been that am the only son VO: How many schools did you apply to Me: 2 schools, ESTU and Montana state University VO: How many admitted you Me: Both of them VO: So why did you choose ESTU Me: I chose ESTU University because they offered me my choice of course and the curriculum are well..VO she didn't even allow me to land, she cuts in with a strange face and said what do you mean by curriculum Me: Montana State University offered me Marketing Marketing Management..VO cuts in again is the same thing Me: i became confuse and said one rubbish thing about marketing which i can't remember and later continue with that is not my choice of course But ETSU offered me Business Management which is what i wanted. i guess she was not satisfy with that but she just let that go (that was favour) VO: typed for some seconds.. Did you take any exam like SAT, Tofel or IELTS ME: No, i made an inquiry from the school about proficiency exam and it was waived because our official language in Nigeria is English VO: she nods her head and started typing again VO: when did you finish your secondary school Me: 2009 VO: so what have you been doing since then Me: After my high school in 2009, i did a 2 years course in event planing and after that i got my diploma in hotel management in 2014 and in 2015 i did one year IT at Southersun Ikoyi Hotel. i wanted to link up what i do at work to that answer but i noticed she started typing again so i kept quiet Vo: What do you do at your place of work Me: I work as an assistant event coordinator, my job is to meet with guest and take reservation for functions and also discuss the kind of set they want for their event such as Banquet setup, theater set up and class room set up. I always speak very fast while am talking so she ask me to repeat again what i do at work which i did. VO: what will you do with these degree Me: this degree will help me achieve my dream goal of becoming a Manager in a standard hotel and also set up my own business as an enterprenural after completing my Bsc and Masters VO: Have you traveled out before Me: No ma'am VO: Do you have any friend in the Us or any family Me: No VO: are you sure Me: Yes, but i was so scared because i applied for visiting in 2008 which i was denied but i didn't apply again since then, so i was thinking she as seen something fishy in my old DS form cos i was invited by a friend then. VO: Do you have any siblings Me: Yes, i have 2 elder sisters VO: Do they school here in Nigeria Me: Yes VO: What school Me: My eldest sister school in University of Ibadan while my immediate elder sister school in Unilag Now the last question to approve my visa was where i saw how Grace and favour works, devil bin won try him power but God say No no no.. leave him alone VO: who will be paying for your studies Me: My Dad VO: What does he do Me: i went blank, i couldn't remember what my dad does, i was lost for words for like 35 seconds, she was just looking at me to say something, me i was just struggling to say but i couldn't, she noticed that and she said don"t worry take your time, settle down but yet i couldn't say a word, i was just smiling shaking my head, after some seconds she moved her head closer to the window glass and said relax, take your time we are just having a conversation with an elegant smile on her face while she was saying that.. before you know it i just pick up like motor wey dem dey push Me: My Dad is into real estate business and he also import ties from Spain (although i starmara a little bit) VO: I will be approving your visa, pick it up in 3 days time, she pick up the white paper and circle a place there, gave it to me with my i20 and said i should keep my i20 safe as will be required at the Port entry. Na so i collect my visa ooo No singles document was asked. My transcript seems long here but it"s actually less than 4 mins with Vo because she speaks very fast and i also respond very fast as well. |

Time2Smile: All praises and thanks be to Allah Visa approved this morning at windows 1 by the young bespectacled female VO. The interview lasted for less than a minute and I was only asked three questions The crowd was mammoth and blue papers were mostly dished out. Although I think the process was fair and those that were denied were given time to make their case. I am not accusing anyone, but those that are delayed don't seem to post the full transcript. Denial interviews usually last longer than I read here. On to my interview, the VO approved the two visiting visa to two middle aged men before and I have to say their response made sense. Pronto it was my turn and the following ensued ; VO: Good Morning Time2smile :Good morning ma'am, how are you doing? (She didn't reply me) VO; Pass me your documents. ( I complied while she scanned my passport and studied my I 20) VO: You are going for a PhD, what research would you be working on? Time2smile: I would be working on Neurodegenration research. The department has an ongoing collaboration with the School of Behavioral and Brain Science on the molecular mechanism underlying neuro degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. (She wasn't looking at me but was typing and nodding so I continued) We would be using various molecular biology tools such as Real PCR, Next generation DNA sequencing, Micro array analysis to look for genes expressed in Alzheimer's disease but not in healthy individuals (I actually said all this but not as smoothly as it reads, by now I had her full attention). VO: Good, why did you choose University of Texas? Time2smile: Actually one of the the reasons is because of the research interest. Also, the university has high diversity with high number of international students and has great support for international students and........ hmm there is another reason(actually forgot and was thinking) ..... yes I was given funding. VO: You funding is it through a scholarship or fellowship Time2smile; I am awarded a graduate tuition scholarship that covers my tuition, I would also work as a graduate teaching assistant. I would be assisting to teach courses, invigilate exams, conduct tutorials and hold office hours. She picked a white paper, returned my I 20 and sevis, and said Your visa has been approved pick up your passport in few days. She no circle location of. Time2smile; Thank you and have a nice day.
Congrats Bro.. Your name really worked for you.. It's really your time 2 smile. Go and enjoy the blessings of God.. Cheers! |
joeluv: I was so hungry I almost passed out and it's been a stressful two days for me because of the flood, I have not had any decent sleep for two days. I was interviewed by the chubby white lady in her 50's, the lady did not smile at all, not even for a second. She denied the two guys before me and she approved one guy before them. The guy she approved, they where busy cracking jokes and she was all smiles (The Guy fine Sha). After that it was frowning all the day. Fear catch me for real, coupled with the hunger and the sleep that was on my case I felt like I lost my voice. Fast forward to my turn. Me: Good Morning Vo : still frowning (Pass me your paper) Vo: what is your highest degree Me: Masters Vo: When did you have this Master Me: 2011 Vo: Why do you need another Masters Me: I intend to pursue a career in economic analysis and a masters in (Vo cuts me off) Vo: What have you been doing since 2011 Me: I first worked with Union bank as (She cuts me off) Vo: This scholarship what's it about Me: Its an academic merit award? awarded to me by (Vo cuts in) Vo: Why where you given this award Me: because of my previous academic record Vo: How many schools did you apply to Me: Two Vo: What's the other one Me: Illinois state university (Because of hunger and frowning I could not even properly pronounce Illinois) Vo: she leans over and is like come again No: said it agin this time she heard me Vo: Where you given admission Me: (With a smile)I was not admitted Vo: Who is paying for the balance Me: My uncle Vo: what does he do Me: Owns a Micro finance company Vo: Have you been to the USA before Me: Yes VO: Where would you be staying Me: I would get a place around Arlington Virginia. Vo: Pick up your Passport in three days (circling something on the paper) Me: Thank you very much. I prayed so hard for a smiling Vo and an uncomplicated interview. Baba God answered the most important one so it's all good. No documents asked, no question of why this school what would you do with this degree. In fact neither She nor I ever mentioned the name of my school through out the conversation. She was so focused on the screen I was just wondering if it is only DS-160 she is reading. That was it everyone o. Please pray pray pray before you come for your interview, because the whole process is a lil but awkward and can easily unsettle some people. The God factor can not be over emphasized. I have learned to much from this thread and I wish to thank everyone that contributes to its success. We all need to be our brothers keeper and it's evident in this thread. All the best to others awaiting their interview. God would surely do it for you as he did it for me.
I say BIG AMEN to that great Prayer of yours.. What a transcript.. May God bless you Broda. Important Note: For those of you who don't understand the meaning of giving back to the thread with your full transcript, this is an example for you to learn from and not all those XYZ and BlaaBalala stuff that you guys type and call it transcript. God Bless you Joeluv for your transcript.. thumbs up for you! |
ukrsc: Thanks for your advice and moral support yesterday. I was the one that went to apply for nursing. As my second degree.. The interview went well and the vo gave me a white paper to provide my sons i 20 which I didn't Know the college was meant to provide. I only took my own i20 and sevis form along. So want to know if all is fine. Gave me a white paper. Told me to submit my sons I 20 form and post it via DHL to VFS center In Isolo
Ma'am Congrats on your approval.. Pls kindly share your transcript so other's can benefit from it.. Bless you! |
Edward890: NMHU is not xyz, it's a short form of d school name....And for the records I searched for it online despit I stated it was recommend by my lecturer.....if you type NHMU university in google it will pop up the name of the university. I don't have to exchange words with u coz I believe everybody has got a stage to get to before behaving maturly.... Next time ask questions before u jump into conclusions
What you are saying at Bold doesn"t make any sense. Besides how does XYZ the short form for NMHU? we have talked about these XYZ of a thing and BalalaBlala answer. it's just so annoying! but if you guys need help from the thread, you will type your question in full even some people will bold their questions just to get quick response to the question and when it comes to sharing of transcript giving back to the thread you will starting seeing XZY and BlalalaBlalala answer. look, let me tell you, there is nothing new in these world especially visa stuff, you are not the first person to get admission to that school you are hiding neither are you the first person to work in that company, so hiding names doesn't make any sense because no body will stop you from travelling or steal the name of that company you work for, Abeg Nigerians biko lets grow up and drop these low backward mentality. I rest my case ooo. Shalom! |
Anyway to answer your question..
